  1. Clint Eastwood is the only one with any good looks in this group, imo. That Steve Harris is ugly. Even if he cut his mop he'd still be ugly.
  2. A good friend of mine passed on this news to me this morning. Although I was a constant part of the old BIS crowd I didn't know Tarna on a personal basis. He was one of those people that you just respected. It's clear he touched the hearts of many people though. Has anyone let Sargy know?
  3. I haven't actually given up on it quite yet, although I put it aside for the time being. My thoughts keep going back to it thinking that there has to be a reason for him being the way he is. You've given me a bit of encouragement, whether you know it or not, so I will probably take it up again ... after I finish the book I'm reading right now, lol.
  4. Saw it right before Christmas for the first time. I thought it was pretty decent. I like Alien a lot better though. Night before last we watched The Legend of Hell's Gate: An American Conspiracy. Man that sucked imo. So confusing, I finally walked away and did something else.
  5. I don't know the specs of my first computer. What I do remember is it was a brand new Dell with windows ME and we still had dial-up. I remember being so excited when it arrived that I stumbled and fell on the porch steps while my brother was carrying it into the house, lol. I actually had received, as a gift, BG2 which arrived before the computer did. That was nearly 12 years ago.

    Music

I was going through some boxes in the guest room and came across some cd's I haven't listened to in a long time. I'd forgotten how much I love Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. Listened to it with my new headphones. Awesome!!
  7. Another thing came to mind... it could be that the parents may have originally had someone else in mind for their son. Happens quite often really. And when it does, it is sometimes hard to accept the son or daughters choice for a spouse no matter what kind of person that spouse is. Attitudes, actions etc can get a bit distorted under those circumstances.
  8. You don't want to hear what I have to say about those books. I'm guessing the books don't really get any better... well, *sigh* there's always other series. Okay, don't know if anyone else has read any of the Mortal Instruments series. I've already read the first 5. The 6th isn't scheduled for release until March of next year. Kind of a bummer because I'll probably have to reread the series to get back into the mode before then. But they were rather interesting, imo. Better than the Twilight series.
  9. 2 hours a day, 5 days a week = 10 hours of gaming a week (not counting extra weekend time) most games are 40 hours or less to play (with shooters and action games usually being only 10 hours, though some rpg's can go as high as 100+) so i average about 15 games a year Really? That's not that much time at all is it? Pretty reasonable actually. Especially considering how much time some kids spend playing games. I don't know what you're implying there but my 50 hours of Civilization 5 in the past 2 weeks is a perfectly normal amount of playtime I tell you! Oh lol! Then by the above estimation you should be well done with that game Bucko! :D I don't know, it always seems like there's so much I have to do that getting time to play a game is kind of a luxury. My boyfriend has had 2 weeks off for the Christmas holidays and he's spent an incredible amount of hours playing Skyrim. Stays up til 2 am! That's wild.
  10. Well there's always going to be somebody who doesn't like something about anything. People are nitpicky by nature. Personally I liked how the dwarves were done up... gave them all some physical individuality like humankind.

  12. Yeah, over here too. I really liked him in Robin Hood. If I was maid Marian I'd have picked him over Robin any ol' day.
  13. Read some of the first books. Interesting enough, but too 'slow' paced and too much, not sure what, but the stuff that makes you want to put the protagonist over your knee, spank him and tell him to man himself up a bit. Wielder of the White Gold my butt. Whiny ass emo is what he is I'm getting a similar impression of him. I keep waiting for some revelation to 'wake' him up. I don't know, if this second book doesn't get any better by the end of it I may ditch reading the rest of the series.
  14. ....None of those games came out in 2012.... Oh man, lol! Totally didn't catch that part... thought it was what we played last year. Sorry! Well in that case, let me update...
  15. How do you guys find time to play so many games? Here's my top 10 list for 2012 DA origins DA 2 Sims 2 Spider solitaire
  16. You do have some good points, but I think it depends on the people involved. If it's good close friends or family it is usually no big deal to go get something needed or overlooked.... (and I confess, that does happen in our group of friends quite often). But there are certain people we've had over for dinner that I'd never dream of asking or expecting to go get something. I think it just depends on who you are and who your company is. And I'm usually not relaxed around those other 'certain' people, lol.
  17. Well maybe you're right. I guess my perspective is just a bit more like Hurlshot's than his father's at this point. But since I really don't know any of the people involved I'm just basing my opinion on what information is available.
  18. I kind of thought I'd get Skyrim for Christmas but I didn't, so I'm playing my good ol' Sims 2 game again. Although I guess I could always play Skyrim on the ps3 since my boyfriend has it now. I'll probably start another quest on DA origins though... sometimes this month.
  19. I like just about everything to do with rpg's. The character creation; the exploration; and leveling up is a blast. I'm more into rpg's where I can have a party along instead of playing solo though. Just a lot more fun with all the interaction among members.
  20. Started reading the Thomas Covenant series. Anyone else read those yet, or even heard of them? I'm into the 2nd book. There's 9 in all afaik.
  21. I take it you haven't actually read The Hobbit. And how is it you came up with that conclusion? I have read the book, 3 times in fact. Originally I heard the movie was to be a 2-parter, then heard that it was now to be a 3-parter. Sure in hell don't know why my asking that question should make anyone assume I haven't read the book.
  22. I'd have to agree with your father on the first two of his points. We've been to a lot of parties and also held a lot of parties and never been in a situation where we had to get wine after guests have arrived. It shows that you're not well organised and running things by the seat of your pants. If we arrived at a party and the host had to go out and get wine after guests arrived, We'd be thinking 'what have they been doing all day to be getting wine now?' Your father probably felt uncomfortable having to leave the gathering to get wine with your wife which probably annoyed him and felt obligated to say yes, especially since he doesn't get along with your wife. He can't say No because he's family, hence obligated to say yes. If I had to leave a gathering and get alcohol with a host because they didn't pick it up earlier in the day, I'd probably be thinking, 'what else have they forgotten for dinner?'. The third point about the winery being nothing special? Don't know the winery so can't comment. Although having been to a few wineries, they don't really mean much to me. So while it may be of no consequence to you about the wine, for others it can be a bad start to the night. But this is a family dinner. I can see your point if Hurlshot was entertaining royalty or something, but family, imo, should be relaxed and fun. I don't see a thing wrong with going out to get something after the company's arrived. But late than never I say!
  23. Wow, this is cool. I'd love to have a bigger one for storing extra blankets in and set it out here in our livingroom.
  24. Just saw The Hobbit last night. Haven't read anyone's comments on this movie, but imo it was fun. I heard this was being turned into a 3 parter?
  25. Oh man... I haven't read all the responses, just simply don't have the time, but.... Families, imo, are made up of unique individuals. Thank God we don't all act and behave the same. How boring that would be. Your wife is simply another gem in the family pot of jewels. Gosh, what's so bad about her comments? If we had someone raised in a vineyard in our family we'd want to know all about it. We'd want to know all about her showgirl background. That would be fantastic to hear about. I have 4 sister in laws, each one unique, and none of them come from a background like mine. Yet I love each and every one of them. And my boyfriend/fiance comes from a quiet small family in Arizona. To meet my family was like being shot out of a cannon for him. He literally didn't know what the hell to think of our loud gang. But, after getting to know him my parents adore him.... my brothers get along great with him, yet he is nothing like any of them. You know Hurlshot, you might have to be the pivot here. Turn those 'offensive' comments into a new conversation opening. I don't know if counseling is the thing here. That's like saying that yeah, there's a big problem when maybe all it is is that nobody is including her into discussions or whatever. Maybe they don't know how to turn her comments into a new channel of conversation.
