RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
It definitely sounds interesting! What is this fascination with open worlds lately? I miss the days of tighter and narrower sprawly environments, like say the Spencer Mansion in Resident Evil, or even more recently, the Asylum in Arkham Asylum. It carries the good parts about backtracking, where familiarity with the environment felt nice and intuitive.. the place environment became home. Most open world settings as of late feel very unforgettable and unnecessarily padded.. to keep it on topic in regards to Levine, I'd say BioShock 1 had it right with Rapture. I hope this open world thing is just another phase the industry is going through before the next big thing arrives. You know, Skyrim happened, and now everyone wants slice of this pie. Same like it was with MMOs few years ago. Every single open world game I played was so boring after a while, and as you say, the setting of them and story is completely forgettable. http://www.thejimquisition.com/2015/01/the-jimquisition-we-need-more-spencer-mansions/ He might be controversial sometimes, but this episode is exactly taken from my mind... I sometimes wish, that we could again get new Final Fantasy with HD prerendered backgrounds and static cameras. FF IX-2 made this way in collaboration with Sakaguchi-san would satisfy most of my wet dreams... Unfortunately this will never happen

What are you playing now?
Finally got 30000 kills Battle Trophy with Edge in Star Ocean Last Hope International. After 570 hours played I am missing only last 54 out of 900 Trophies. Thankfully the hardest and all except one timeconsuming are finished. 5 more trophies with Myuria, and I can finally go for another playthrough of the game on 2nd hardest difficulty to get another PS Trophy. After that one playthrough on easiest to finish 49 trophies for dead Faize, and then only one more playthrough on hardest difficulty, and I should see to pop-up the Platinum for this game O.o This is my biggest test of my patience. I started game during Xmas 2010 and I was always getting back to the game after bigger or smaller breaks of up to 6 months. But with PoE coming closer and closer to the release, I do not think I will be able to finish this game before summer. And right after that, I should consult my shrink

This is awesome to read, if this will be feature of Galaxy for all games after it gets into full release, it is an awesome news!!!- RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
Doesn't Slitherine own the 40K license now?- RPGCodex 2014 Games of the Year
I look at a game like DA2, and I think it is a terrible game with very few redeeming qualities. I look at a game like Mass Effect 1, and I see a game that I could never enjoy but looks generally decent, with some things construable as strengths. Same with KOTOR. And if we want to talk about the Codex, or any other hypothetical group of 'Bio haters', I think you'd find that many of them individually have different opinions. Some of them even seem to write off BG series, while others clearly like Bio games enough to buy and play them. Now if you want to talk details about why I or anyone else might consider any of these games, we can! We can talk about the single player MMO grind combat of DA:I, the quest writing behind DA2, the screensaver combat of KOTOR, the Four MacGuffins of NWN1... obviously, I didn't feel the need to write a book about it in this thread. Doesn't mean you can say "hey, you clearly are a Biohater who has no evidence for his opinion." (There is another assumption running through your response, which is that games which millions of people buy and play could not possibly be terrible. Well, I can see why people would go with that. I don't subscribe to it. We're all capable of enjoying terrible things, whether in the realm of popular culture or in more serious realms of violence, racism, whatever.) Basically my point is simple. Why do some people say harsh things about a game, or a line of games, or a company that makes those games? The most likely answer: they really don't like those games. They really did not enjoy those games, and/or they think the games are objectively terrible. If we want to dispute those judgments, sure, that's why we come to these forums. If we want to sit there and say "oh those people don't count, they just hate Bioware because of what happened 10 years ago" or "oh those people just hate Bio games for no reason", well... I'm sure that's true for some people, but I find that a rather irrational and unreasonable stance. Tigranes let me ask you a different question because you a reasonable person who I believe who will ruminate on the question and then answer honestly This dislike of Bioware I understand can be perfectly justified for some people, but how much of this dislike do you think is really motivated by the fact that Bioware has been one of the first companies to challenge traditional gaming "norms" and be really inclusive for their fanbase So in other words they have gay characters and optional gay Romance options. Do you not think this is another factor to the whole fall of Bioware in the eyes of some of the previous fans? I doubt people would admit this but I believe this is a contributing reason? You could have gay/lesbian marriage already in Fallout 2 and a "romance/relationship" in ToEE as well, long before Bioware. And I do not see anyone hating on these two games for that reason. Saying that people are hating on Bioware only because they are homophobes is imo kind of naive...- RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
I prefer this one- What are you playing now?
I am playing Gran Turismo 6 now and then, finally found a good online community, the only problem is, that I am really far behind the best of them But the racing is really fun. In the meanwhile I am still playing Star Ocean 4. Just got 99,999 hits battle trophy for edge few days ago and getting close to 30,000 kills battle trophy with him. ~3600 kills to go. And started to play again Shadowrun Returns on Hard difficulty. This time with Dwarf melee brute, with almost all karma put into Strength and Close Combat. The Pommel attack combined with Haste buff from Shaman is really overpowered O.o- Amazing Kickstarter project which have been released so far.
OK, I think this thread needs a little bit of digging out of the grave and blow of the dirt and settled dust. So, except the amazing Wasteland 2, Divinity: Original Sin, Dead State and Shadowrun: Dragonfall, what are the other kickstarter games, that were released after august 2013 and requires our full attention?- Reboot or Re-imagineering that are drastically different from - and superior to - the original classics
- what campaign will it use?
Mamoulian War replied to redneckdevil's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)http://pathfinder.obsidian.net/ I think this answers your question- Reboot or Re-imagineering that are drastically different from - and superior to - the original classics

Can't wait to get my hands on this as well!- Bioware, a return to former glory ?
You are going by the literal, 50%+1 definition of "mostly", right? I haven't played DAI, but from what I've read, it doesn't really deliver on promises made, it's buggy as hell (a hallmark of Bioware products) and the PC controls aren't very good. This doesn't necessarily make it a bad game, but nothing that "restores faith", whatever that means. I'll get around to playing it if I see a good bargain or in a few years, and I'll probably like it enough to finish it, much like every other Bio game, except JE. However, I reserve my worship and faith for stuff that is actually important in my life, such as peanut butter and bacon sandwiches. My guess is half of those negative reviewers are people who haven't even played the game, they just automatically default to hating all things Bioware. At least that would fit the trend we are seeing on these forums. I can play that game as well: My guess is half of those positive reviewers are people who are paid by EA, they just do what their exec told them too- I figured it out... Why RPGs seem to be going down hill.
Man I wish I could see such writing for intelligent-like-a-brick characters in modern games...- I figured it out... Why RPGs seem to be going down hill.
That's blatant lies. My grandmom still cooks as fantastic as 25 years ago...- RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
And they will probably be far too much for my poor old pc to handle... If it is anything like GTA IV at release, they will be probably far to much for any PC to handle...- The last physical game you ever bought
Fairy Fencer F for PS3 month ago. And tomorrow I will pick up Kingdom Hearts 2.5 Remix. I actually purchased 7 physical games this year all for full price at release day or shortly after. Would buy them more, but my job does not allow me to spent so much time on all the games I like. I am buying digital games only after they hit the price under 5USD. And only bought 2 games this year which were worth that price (Shadowrun Returns and Wasteland 1).- Why isn't there a Dead State kickstarter thread? What's wrong with you guys?
I rather take game which has last years technology with last years gameplay, than to get game which has today's technology and get bored to hell with today's gameplay... Video games have progressed in 16 years. Even Pillars knows this. Unfortunately most of them progressed into boring snorefest. We are lucky that there are some indie developers who start to give us some quality for the first time after 10+ years.- Why isn't there a Dead State kickstarter thread? What's wrong with you guys?
