  1. Finally a study on how movie sharing has impacted movie industry in 2003-2009. http://www.scribd.com/doc/233935885/Using-Markets-to-Measure-the-Impact-of-File-Sharing-on-Movie-Revenues-Koleman-Strumpf Would like to see something similar for computer games and music as well. TLDR version: the effect is estimated to be 0,03% of profit made, which is less than half of MPAA money thrown out of the window to "combat" the piracy...
  2. Just finished Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World for the first time and I was able to achieve Bad, Normal and True Ending on my first playthrough.
  3. No gaming news, but you should watch this before making just another preorder after you complained about quality of the last game you bought http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/jimquisition/9516-EA-Ubisoft-A-Cycle-of-Perpetration-and-Apology
  4. OK... Reading the forums If the PC comes with OEM 32-bit of Windows I am ****ed and I have to buy Win 7 again if I want to change to 64bit... http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_install/windows-7-pro-oem-32-bit-64-bit/279a9ccb-a1dd-493c-ad27-6496353f7395 Now I am reminded again why I switched to Linux and consoles 7 years ago... Or has anything changed recently? (the answer was posted in 2009)
  5. Ok to complicate it even further. The PC has only 32bit version of win 7 :/ So with 4GB RAM on board the big memory GPUs are useless :/ And you should not be surprised that not all EU countries are equal for multinational corporations... Just ask Sony how many EU countries still do not have PSN available as an example...
  6. I forgot to mention that I am EU guy , so some of the brands like PowerColor are not available in my country But thanks for your input. Really much appreciated. I'll try to find something comparable with brands which are available here. Any other recommendations are still welcome
  7. I want to change only a GPU. All I want, is to run Witcher, Witcher 2, Wasteland 2, Numenera Torment and Project Eternity I am not a PC gamer anymore, so I would like to have best GPU as cheapest as possible (or in other words - GPU with best performance for dollar ratio not to powerful for this PC) My last PC I bought was Athlon 64 3500+ with 2 GB of RAM in 2007 and later purchased Nvidia GeForce 9600GT for it... So I am really out of touch with newer stuff, especially Intel processors and ATI GPUs.
  8. Soo, I was just gifted Intel Core i3-2100 3.1GHz and 4GB RAM, Win 7 and MB Intel Desktop Board DQ67OW. It has only integrated GPU, and because it is my first ever Intel computer, I might need some advices from more Intel savvy members here. I have no clue how ****ty is the CPU and MB, so if anyone is able to recommend me any GPU which will not be bottlenecked by them, I'll be very very grateful. Thank you.
  9. As soon as it is on GoG I money on it.
  10. Just got Platinum Trophy for Gran Turismo 6. My 8th platinum so far. It took me 81 hours of driving
  11. Missed that Shall I be a sad panda now?
  12. Blackguards Special Edition 66% off on gog, if the next 1 hour, if there is still someone who does not own it.
  13. Finally a game worth of buying PS4. http://www.siliconera.com/2014/06/16/hyperdimension-neptunia-victory-ii-playstation-4/
  14. I don't really know, as I haven't played the game nor have any interest to, but it doesn't paints a pretty picture of the gaming industry if the PC versions are being gimped. But they apparently still use the superior capability of the PC to create the pretty sales screenshots and videos, oh the delicious irony... Coz that's all what are PCs capable of
  15. Yeah, the outrage here is the way Ubisoft shot themselves in the foot and then just continued to saw off the leg. But hey, it's easier to just say "women should just shut the f**** up", so here we are. I'm not saying in any way, shape, or form that is what you have been saying, Calax; but the general message has been distorted in order to just simply rag on them females. OTOH, I get the feeling that journalist were out for blood after seeing that "AC: Unity didn't have no women"(something that could easily be patched in or given as a free DLC) and decided to make them suffer for it. Quite frankly this whole thing (the entire SJW crusade) is just childish and counterproductive, they been at it for years and all they've got to show for it is how many people they've grieved. Or how many grandstanding praise was given for little to nothing done. @ Orog Your cynicism makes me laugh Personally for me if I thought raising issues of SJ was pointless I would stop doing it. But I only see the awareness increasing and companies taking considerations like inclusivity more seriously. Yes I agree sometimes I know my intentions are misplaced but I think the greater cause of SJ gets more things right than wrong Sorry to tell you, but it is in Human nature, that the more you are pointing about some problem, the more they get annoyed when they hear/read about it and just start to completely ignore it... If you want to make people aware, you should be only raising issues about the most serious problems. If you starts to raise issue about it every day, the common populace just stops reading/hearing to you, because their short attention spam will not allow them to focus not even on the biggest issues anymore... Unfortunately the journalist's way how to handle this issue is already for many people at the level, that if there is more negative SJ backlash about content, the more likely they are to purchase that content. We have one proverb in my country: "Priveľa všetkého škodí." (Too much of everything is harmful.) And I think, people in other countries should take an advice from this proverb as well.
  16. I found this, if anybody is interested in this Final Fantasy Type-0 HD announced for PS4 and the other system. http://squareportal.net/2014/06/10/square-enix-announces-final-fantasy-type-0-for-europe%E2%80%8F/
  17. Have I missed something or no one talked about SONY press conference here? Was it that awful? And Any chance Square Enix had announced anything? EDIT: Well except Tomb Raider multiplatform...
  18. Why not buy them Injustice GOTY for PS3?
  19. The only games which interest me this year, and I will be playing them, are Tales of Xillia 2, Wasteland 2, Pillars of Eternity and maybe Kingdom Hearts 2.5 Remix.
  20. Dunno, but probably someone working for EA
  21. After reading news about such ridiculous trials such as these almost every day, it's for many people harder and harder to sympathize with any copyright holder... http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2014/06/web-browsing-is-copyright-infringement-publishers-argue/
  22. Comparing piracy to parking on handicapped parking spaces... OOOkayyyyy... Now I can safely quit the internet... Coz I have seen everything...
  23. Layoffs are never good news, I'm sorry to hear that. This is just another example of the tough economic pressures many companies face Not wanting to sound like a prick, but "gross mismanagement" is far away from what I see as a tough economic pressure.
  24. Funny how Sarex is the common link in both discussions, tells you something about his debating etiquette And I find funny how many people from another part of the world think, they know better about what's going on in Ukraine, because Fox News or some similar "news" said so... So in your opinion only people who live in a particular country can give an informed view about an event or situation in that country? You do realize there is only one person on these forums, as far as I know, who lives in Ukraine and has commented in that discussion and its not Sarex? Only one reply to this, because I do not want to derail thread and I never talk about politics on internet. The fact is that the far away are you living from the place of conflict, the more skewed the news are, that is the fact, because like it or not, US, EU and Russia all have their own political and economical agendas in Ukraine and most of the medias are far away from independent on covering most of what is happening, including most of the medias here in Slovakia. Another fact is that Ukrainian citizens, (it depends not if they have Ukrainian, Russian or another nationality), know the best what is happening there. But you still have to cherry pick these information as well, because some of them are doing propaganda of their own side as well. The situation, as always, is not Black and White, it is in thousands shades of grey and both sides of the conflict believe in their own truth.
