There was a Wheel of Time pilot on FXX last night, after midnight. 30 minutes fairly low budget and probably only created so Red Eagle could hold onto the license. It's basically the prologue of Eye of the World. They avoid doing the rising of Dragonmount, obviously because that would have cost money. It can be found on youtube, but due to the questionable legality of those links, I won't share. I feel comfortable sharing this however. Edit: Neither Brandon Sanderson nor Harriet McDougal Rigney (Robert Jordan's widow) knew about this. https://twitter.com/BrandSanderson/status/564649980775108608 https://www.facebook.com/TaverenTees

Isn't the natural next step playing through Mass Effect 3? I hear the ending is superb! You're a monster.

With Mass Effect 2 off my plate, I have nothing exciting to play. I might take Rayman Origins off the list of games I own but never tried. Otherwise I'm probably going into a gaming hibernation until Borderlands PS4 and Bloodborne. I feel some withdrawal, but it's probably time to clean up these piles of unread books.

Finished Mass Effect 2 PS3 and all DLC. For some reason I got the long service medal. Is Genesis responsible? Anyway, it's such a shame that they never made more. This one ends on such a whimper. You just blow up a relay and all the Reapers die. Guess it could have been worse.

Wrapped up all the loyalty quests in ME2. Legion is still the best character in the franchise. But Grunt is growing on me like he never did before. Now to finish the main game, hit up the remaining sidequests, and do the DLC.

Which of these Star Wars games are any good?
Tale replied to Althernai's topic in Computer and Console
This is so disappointingly correct. Was a big fan of the first and hoped the second would polish it up. Instead it rushed it out. It's short, has no variety, and ends with a cliffhanger -
I think it's a dominate behavior among players. We're well conditioned that way. It doesn't take a min-maxer to not want Legion or Tali to die on the suicide mission.

I hate morality SYSTEMS on the grounds that it feels like a constricting of choices. When it becomes a system there becomes an incentive to stick to one side of that system. You're making choices for the meter, not because you like the choice. If the incentive is significant, then you won't ever want to stray. The game might as well have just let you pick good or evil at the beginning and made your choices for you. If the incentive is minor, then there's no need for the system.

I still want to see Defiance.

Monty Oum passed away. He rose to fame with Haloid and Dead Fantasy, short action crossover fan films. Went on to Rooster Teeth to work on Red vs. Blue and RWBY. He passed from a severe allergic reaction that put him in the hospital on January 30th. Edit: Corrections, he was in a coma for 10 days from the reaction which occurred during a medical procedure. It was only publicly announced on the 30th.

There's enough guides telling you where to find that out there. I just looked one up earlier today for that exact purpose. Also, fun with bugs! The missing background texture from Garrus' loyalty mission is not present on PS3. I miss that one. The bug where you get ahead in Thane's is. You go to a cutscene dialogue too early and Thane starts bugging you about progress, well, this causes the dialogue to drop and you're stuck looking at a wall with no control. Bug I never noticed before, in the same mission, in the area with the walking Keeper, his shadow clips through the floor. If you have the Keeper off screen, the shadow fails to animate. Presumably the Keeper doesn't animate at all in this case to save memory or processing, but it's neat.

Back to Mass Effect 2. The morality system is probably the biggest flaw in the game. I don't think the weak main plot even comes close. You're stuck picking choices based on expectations of points so you can solve problems later, instead of playing a character or even picking based on situational demands. Anyone who's played it has probably figured the same thing out, but it annoys me enough to harp on it still. Just did the Thane loyalty and I wanted to punch Kelham for the interrogation. But since I've been Paragon so far, well, if I do that, I fear that I'll fail the Tali/Legion check later.

Finished Life is Strange Episode 1. Not as great as Telltale Games, but that might be that there's quite a bit more slice of life to it, and I'm not as drawn into that kind of thing. The time rewinding is more of a mechanic than it is central to the plot, though that may change as the series approaches a climax. Still, I thought it was pretty good. There's a few plotlines in it I'm really interested in seeing how they go.

"I don't wanna Bust All that." Don't tell me what I do and don't want to do, Calavera.

Anyone hit up Life is Strange yesterday? That was the Steam release, today is the PS4 release.

Edit: I see this is about Bokishi saying it was cryptic, not my saying I'm checking every nook and cranny. I'm feeling better about it now that I've found a new path.

Apparently Grim Fandango has cloud saves on Playstation even if you arn't a PS+ subscriber. That's unique to my knowledge. I was wondering why it always did an extra load when looking at saves. But yeah, I'm on the second year and the passion is dying down. I think it's because I know my goal, but I don't really see how I'm supposed to get there. Well, I know how to get there, but I don't know how to get that. So I'm checking every nook and cranny for something random that will be useful. Takes the thrill out of adventure games.

The first hour or so is great.

We all kind of saw this coming (in much the same way we saw Morrowind online coming, except it didn't), so I can't say I'm surprised. Disappointed but not surprised. The original game's a great game deserving of a better polished sequel.

I'd hate a remake of Alien starring anyone. The interesting thing about Alien is that it was written entirely gender neutral, but because of the casting choices and what followed, it's become a bit of a feminist icon. I don't think Ghostbusters ever held quite the same position. I've never seen that sentiment expressed. Were there people saying Die Hard 3 should have been a Lethal Weapon movie? Or did we all just think it was fun trivia that it started that way? Were there people going around saying that Disturbia should have been Rear Window 2?

The cast is good, I just don't like the idea of a Ghostbuters reboot or whatever it's supposed to be. I know why studios do it, I just wish they wouldn't. I can imagine the cast being in a completely separate movie that shares themes with ghostbusters. And that's what I always advocate for, just because I see greater flexibility and don't have to worry that if it flops, it'll drag fond memories with it.
