Wolfenstein: The New Order is waiting on my doorstop. So excited!
-
Now, speaking of trainwrecks... Episode 5 was good, I will fight you.
-
I don't see how you even could bridge the two. The opening cinematic did that. How do you make an entire game out of "you fled and got jumped."

Hmm, I could have sworn I saw a note on Steam not long ago, that the GFWL had been patched out of that one (finally). I might actually reinstall it and give it a second shot [/OFF TOPIC] I don't know if it's still going on, but they were saying they'd transfer achievements and progress to the new system.

I could complain more about The Walking Dead Season 2 if you like. Dark Souls 2 vs Dark Souls 1, maybe? It might be hard to generate a thread on Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright, but I'd give it the college try if I wasn't probably the only one here who played it. Complaining about them doesn't mean we necessarily see them as a trainwreck, though this community does seem to be split on that idea. And Bioware is not churning out non-stop masterpieces, that's true. The fact that they can occasionally touch that point is admirable. And it makes when they completely miss, in whole or in part, all the more baffling. I like to talk about what games can do better with rare exception. And right as I get ready to write up those exceptions, I start remembering where they need to improve as well.

Game of Thrones, the Telltale one. I've only just started, it seems great, but it looks awful. I mean that. It's very fuzzy and blurry for some reason, like I would have expected if I were playing the PS3 version, not the PS4. Also it tries to recreate the intro from the show. And that is the worst thing I've ever seen outside of a bleeding bargain bin movie tie-in. The writing and characters are sound. Mechanically it's a Telltale game, but they really should have done something original with that intro. Trying to copy a high budget HBO show in the Telltale Tool was such a bad idea. Edit: Apparently the awful look in the game is a paint filter. They're going for a painted effect. This work a bit better in lighted areas, but the game starts off dark and it just kind of smudges the graphics. However, it also causes everything to look artifacted when the camera moves. Finished episode 1: Bold move, Telltale. Good show.

This is all a serious tragedy and I'll understand if people are upset beyond the norm. But we won't be tolerating use of the thread to push hate. The rules are still in force. Edit: Nor will this thread be the go to place for a debate on what is or is not hate speech.

Terrible tragedy. I'd say I hope justice is swift and without mercy on those who perpetrated, but if I'm going to hope, it'll be for a time machine or that the whole thing is a joke. But I guess if I have to deal with reality, I'll stick with the original sentiment. My heart goes out to those the victims were forced to leave behind and the injured.

I like comparisons to ME1 because I view DAI in a similar vein. Very short main quest, lots of wandering and sidequests. I just happen to think DAI's sidequest material is more polished. Still, after digestion, I'm favoring DA:O over DA:I. I think DAO uses what it has better. Better density in content I enjoy, characters, and hand placed combat encounters. DAI has spectacular main quest missions, the best, but they're few and far between with all the side content. And their isolated nature, you can never visit those areas outside of the main quest missions, makes it feel like you're jumping between two games.

I'm being a warmer for a cat all day today. We have an office cat (in reality the boss' son's cat that he was too lazy to take care of, so it got foisted on me here at the office). She keeps trying to find places to sit on me today.

Did it have a type A-1 personality? I don't know whether that deserves a rimshot or a shepard's crook.

I have a few to offer. Cogs Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition Cthulhu Saves the World & Breath of Death VII: The Beginning Darksiders The Ship x 2 Aww, to heck with it. Okay, I have several copies of Halo Wars for Xbox 360. They're still in plastic gathering dust. If you're interested, PM me your address. Finally managed to give something away. I've had that copy of Deus Ex since Human Revolution came out.

I just found out that I slipped into an alternate universe where Frank Oz didn't die shortly before Revenge of the Sith, forcing them to use a replacement. Apparently he's alive in well in this timeline, which we will call Universe D.

I live about 15 minutes from there. If you have any questions, ask away.

I can't agree. It wasn't abominable, but it needed some work. I love what happened to Roland and the cycle. But the rest of the team is just kind of meh.
-
If they'd kept the ending exactly the same, but had your two squadmates there to say "Red's what we were fighting for all along" and "I'll never let you choose green!" then I doubt the furor would have been more substantial than it is for every overhyped game.

Fair enough about the 1995 look, I can't even remember what it looked like until I looked it up. But I don't see Batou being done justice, either. I'm similarly skeptical of them doing the world justice. It's possible, I'll grant. But I think that'd require more of a budget than anyone's willing to commit to starting up a sci-fi movie license. I'm thinking it would be on the scale of Guardians of the Galaxy, and the only reason that got lit is because of Avengers and Iron Man before it.

I was never impressed by the original movie beyond the setting. Standalone Complex gets real interesting though. I see a lot of people say that, giving different reasons why it wouldn't work. And I can't help but disagree. I think it can work in the broad strokes, but not the details. Cyberpunk can work, but I'm not sure if we're ready for the prosthetic work covering up large portions of the male leads face and a female lead that dresses like a sex worker. We're talking about a AAA movie here. Which means they're probably going to want to make things a bit more safe than that.

I just don't see Ghost in the Shell translating into a western film. Not when the main character dresses in what amounts to a bathing suit and a jacket. On the upside we might see Scarlett Johansen running around in a bathing suit and jacket. Or even full frontal, y'know, for stealth.

I decided I wanted something positive of the game community and sent a praising e-mail to Telltale Games. I immediately regretted it because it was simply badly written. Really needed a complete revision and some planning. Maybe after Tales of the Borderlands episode 2 comes out I can find the excuse and they'll have forgotten that rambling piece of crap.
-
I can't stand the revised ending, either. I just think the ending misses the point of what the audience is after. The squadmates aren't there at all. Try and think of another piece of media about a group where they all get shoved away before the climax. Dark Tower comes to mind, but King didn't exactly nail that one himself. His own writing of it showed he wasn't too sure, going so far as to advise readers to skip parts of it. I mean, it would be kind of like if The Walking Dead ended without Clementine present. The most important thing in the franchise is not the Reaper's goals, but the ending cared about nothing but.

It's good enough aside from the nitpicks. It's the weakest of the three games, with the least exploration and stuff to do, but it's an expansion so that's expected.

The trick is to find one of their spawns and let them retreat when the icon over their head turns into an alarm. That triggers a reinforcement wave. After a few of those, the Matron will spawn. I've been playing GTA V for PS4 and feeling like I'm wasting my time. It's not bad, but it's not exciting. I bought Alien: Isolation for a second time recently (previously owned on 360, but since I disconnected that to make room for PS4, I rebought on PS4) and should be playing that instead while I wait for Wolfenstein: The New Order to arrive. Edit: Did I mention I beat The Wolf Among Us a few days ago? It's officially my favorite Telltale game, unseating Tales of Monkey Island. Tales of Borderlands Episode 1 is good and has the promise to be even better, we'll see.

I'm willing to buy your claim about Maze Runner, but saying that about Divergent is simply tipping your hand.
