I would add too as I kid growing up playing AD&D computer games - I found BG1/BG2 pretty easy on normal difficulty - I think there is one demon fight I skipped from the expansion - but never ran into too much trouble ... Later on playing on the hardest it was still pretty easy, never played with mods as poster is discussing - but from what I have read BG2 was only great because of the mods, the base game was always so-so ... Now if you want to talk about a real challenge - Pools Of Radiance - the first fight against the troll, I think it took me a good couple weeks to figure that fight out

Hmm, I play with an experience reduction mod and don't experience this at all, I also play with the companions, and don't make a custom party. I have had some of the most epic fights in Deadfire - I mean I have said this before but nothing beats winning that fight against the zombie Guls and the ones that explode in the Undercity of Neketaka with one man standing and actually having to use Empowers for spells!! So much fun ... I mean on PoTD I don't buy the argument that its too easy - I am level 15 and 16 right now and just got my party wiped out in BoW by making one bad choice in the battle - I know I can beat the fight but still it isn't a cake walk. Of course could it be more challenging - heck yeah and am totally down for more but I don't buy that the game is easy. Edit: I agree that the combat in Deadfire isn't your typical D&D style combat where it is a puzzle to figure out - it is different maybe a little pushed towards an action style of play, but that being said in many ways I enjoy it more

I disagree - you can be a good guy, it is almost like you start neutral good but and end up chaotic good I like the game did 3 or 4 playthroughs - all the critiques above are true though - short; easy combat once you learn how it works; etc. The expansion helps a bit. Best playthrough I enjoyed was the Chorus .... also I loved the dungeons but not trying to be contrary on this just expressing the smalls joys I have found in life!!!

Is anyone familiar with the Pathfinder Kingmaker PnP campaign? I am always wondering how much of the writing came from that vs being original? Or even how much of the writing in KM is mostly descriptions from the Pathfinder game books? I have a feeling that a large portion wasn't written by the design team.

Wait! Did they bump the PoTD difficulty again??? I mean those skeletons were always tough, but they made them tougher??? That excites me in all the most morbid ways!!! ... personally the first part of the game is tough, but if you buy a couple custom companions you can whip through it pretty easy - I mean in one playthrough I had to avoid the fights almost completely which in itself was kind of fun, sneaking around ....

I would add that I pause so much in RTwP that it might as well be turn-based. Will miss the chaos the RTwP with pause adds to the mix, and with the slow mode as was mentioned they finally perfected it (only took 20 years ; ). I go for either - I think Obsidian games play very well as RTwP, but I think a game like Pathfinder would have benefited greatly from TB, especially since it would have been closer to the PnP. I honestly like them both about the same, as long as they are done well - interested to see if people play POE2 more as turn-based or RTwP ... we should make a survey!!!!

New subclasses!! PoTD got the ending section toughened up a little, and I can't remember the dates but my best guess is you were playing for the first major re-blance, oh! and they bumped the stats of enemies on Veteran I am pretty sure. Tons of new Magran's challenges. In terms of re-balancing for characters - I can't remember if they did any major changes to the "mage" class, but they did try to help the Paladin class a little, especially where Sacred Emulation was involved, if I remember correctly they lessened the damage from lighting yourself on fire ...

This. This really annoys me soooo much. It's a weird-ass relic of BG/BG2, where if you tried to rest in town you were ordered to go to an inn instead. Meanwhile, in Deadfire, in town you can wait around for literally days, but you're not allowed to rest for some hours? Why the heck not? Sometimes I want to get my food-based resting bonuses without having to get to the world map. Because the camping screen - you can't start a fire in the middle of Neketaka jeez! Sorry totally joking around

I do kind of enjoy that you only need to reach the skill check level, rather than the classic DnD dice roll in most cases - though I am not sure that is what you mean when you mentioned increasing passive skills to pass checks - or maybe have it as an on/off option for those who do like that stuff (I personally always want to reload on dice rolls just because I know I will go back or cast a spell to be able to re-roll anyway so it's not like I won't open it in the long run - am I rationalizing - most likely). Otherwise totally on point - the more they have it can only be better - unless its a mess. I like the reputation system when I started trying to not to get certain reputations - otherwise before that it didn't make much sense to me.

I could go for Aedyr, but isn't the Living Lands an Island area?? Not sure i can handle another boat and island hoping ... "The Living Lands is a frontier island area in the far north" And I mean in terms of Old Vailia - you can't beat the description here: "Once the crown jewel of the southern seas, Old Vailia is now the crumbled remnants of an empire of warring merchant nations. Counting many humans and dwarves among their ranks, the Old Vailian countries are still forces to be reckoned with and are proud of their rich cultural heritage.[3] The nations that once made up the empire are engaged in a continuous war for dominance that has been going on (and off, and on again) for over two hundred years since the empire's collapse.[4]" I mean what better setting than a war torn Empire??? And don't judge a book by the ones who left ....

My kind of bug ... -
I would love to see a Tyranny 2!!! Ugh though I must say depending on what path you took in Tyranny the ending either wrapped up nicely, or seemed incredibly open ended. As for POE3 I would like to see Old Vailia, but people keep saying Living Lands and that would be good too. Though the idea of an Ancient something stirring in Old Vailia uniting the nation into a conquering, warlike force seems good - maybe even with the rulers of Defiance Bay and the Deadfire, etc tasking the watcher with finding the root of this evil, and why the Watcher because at the heart of Old Vailia's new found power is animacy and the devouring of souls - who better than the Watcher ... Hello! So it seems my stacking weapon status effects that should be on a timer and wear off after the time expires or leaving combat seem to get stuck. For instance right now I have Grave Calling (2% damage dealt as freeze for 60 seconds / tacks 10 times) stuck on my watcher at 2% damage and with 35 seconds left. For awhile until I removed Serafan from party and took the weapon away from him had Opening Shot stuck from Scordeo's Trophy. I can provide a save game with it stuck on my main character and Serefan if you like.

Except that game - like BG - is using a PnP system, so it tries to follow the rules. The initial outrage was caused by the fact that nobody really knew Pathfinder, and the difficulty threw them off. Now? People keep coming up with more and more "solo unfair" builds, and do you know how many balance patches did the game get? NONE. Hey! I would be interested in a build that gets through the Prologue and Chapter 1 on unfair / hard on solo, can you post some links: (Sorry I know this is a POE2 forum) Edit - saw the Vivisectionist one but that is all I could find

Hell with it, I am getting into this!! This looks more like a furry rat killer ... straight hands down bird catcher / Xuarip mangler

Was using Xoti Symbol of Eothas - used it a couple times, empower it if you must, it basically wipes out the spawning zombies and hits the Messenger for high damage ... use as much flame magic, flame prayer, really knocks him up. A couple good fighters with knockdown combined with a rogue hitting with blind fight etc will get rid of its concentration ... Not sure what else - use two-handed weapons for greater penetration - there is a Priest spell that gives a character added Penetration Champion's Boon. The modal with the mace lowers armor rating / as well as the Saber (can't remember the name but you get it off the body in Poka Kahora) it lowers armor rating. Use your modals, especially on sabers, swords, etc ... Funny do you have scaling turned up? I wonder with scaling turned up if the fight is harder than on say level 14? Of course there was that bug in POE1 where whenever you reloaded the enemies stats kept going up ???? lol Edit: Would like to try Pallegina and Sacred Emulation on it, that would be pretty fun ... Edit2: Also noticed you can't get symbol of Eothas with Xoti as she is multi-classed, but flame magic really does a number to it, maybe Cleansing Flame or Pillar of Holy fire if you have it ... and some magic user spells like Ray of Fire
