  2. Shoot we are just gamers too, haven't experienced any real horrible issues yet but definitely feel for you, I would try to get your money back for sure! No use playing a game that won't play on your system.
  3. So total newcomer question in terms of multi-classing - I have noticed most builds online only suggest taking a few levels here and there in other classes. Is there any builds that benefit from a 50/50 split, or with the level 20 cap you just kind of shoot yourself in the foot when you do that?
  4. Are they that good? Well, am game for hand-crafted encounters even if they have the intern doing them, and I always hate playing a monk, but when you experience them in combat they have a tendency to wipe the floor with you Edit: could be operating on the assumption that we won't see monks at all without the stretch goal, but could be wrong.

  7. The mod ... its funny I am playing at minus 25% experience and right now I am wishing to level up a little faster lol. Which is better too slow or too fast? I am in the camp that making you work for levels is never a bad thing.
  8. I think they represent the corresponding negative effect that will cancel the positive effect, in this case a perception / will effect will cancel it.

Hmm - combat is much more playable in Deadfire - slow which I like and playable - I do wish sometimes for an extra companion - its is hard to choose between all the NPCs Maybe Microsoft with their next console is thinking outside the box completely - maybe with them adding keyboard and mouse support (https://www.theverge.com/2018/9/25/17903312/microsoft-xbox-one-keyboard-mouse-support-razer-features) - their next console will be even more accessible as a computer, so they want to capture the Steam market which already offers both controller and mouse/keyboard. So Obsidian and InExile in way can offer both markets to them. If they steal some of the Steam market they beat Sony on that front, and if they have their own dedicated games they compete with them on that front. So maybe we get a more controller friendly Pillars 3, that keeps the core keyboard and mouse-style play. In a perfect world of course.

  14. Hey - Been getting this for the first time since 3.1.1. I have had it twice happen in the Hanging Sepulchers area, more specifically when I leave the Forgotten Mausoleum back to the Hanging Sepulchers. Had it happen once in the Forgotten City too. Here is a save right before I left and an output log. Hope this helps. Would also mention in the Forgotten Mausoleum it is one of the first areas where I am getting FPS drops, most everything else is fine.   15. Lol - still CA again?? Such speculation ... Well, since everyone is throwing in their 2 cents... It's more the 2D unity environments that aren't attracting the next generation of gamers, I would argue, I don't mind it at all as I am really used to it, but I think new gamers feel like it is somewhat old and outdated - especially the loading screens. All the most successful games recently that get mentioned Dragon Age, Witcher, DOS2, Dragon Quest XI - they all have a somewhat over the shoulder, third-person perspective (DOS2 is like a hybrid between isometric and the third Person over the shoulder). New gamers want updated game engines - Unity feels old school. I think Deadfire has some legs left on it, especially once all the bugs get fixed, and the final DLC comes out. I think some of the major FPS and combat bugs, include the balancing issues early on hurt the sales definitely, plus expectations of people who wanted BG2, but instead got a great game that wasn't BG2. In that vein you could also point that they stepped away from the D&D-base a little too much with all the changes to combat - I mean I find it interesting that Pathfinder potentially outsold POE2 even with worse reviews (I don't know for sure, but just looking at the number of comments people have left for the game is well past POE2 and it has only been out for 2 months), but it won't come close to DOS2, and again I blame the 2D static environments they will never be as popular as the more dynamic cameras of other games!!

  17. Hey! So I am in 3.1.1 and I just played the crazy battle in the Old City against all the Gulls and Rhotghasts, the one where you get the Corroded Bronze Horn figurine that summons the corrupted animat. The majority of it played great, thank you empowered Relentless Storm ... But near the end some of the Rhotghasts were getting stuck using abilities not a big deal just makes me wonder if I cheated, and after the battle I fought the huge grub, and I noticed that a few of my characters were getting stuck doing abilities - not very often but once or twice during the battle - and I was getting a string of text in the combat log that says "[character name] cancels ability" (paraphrasing) just going repeatedly and repeatedly. It king of looked like: "[character name] cancels ability" "[character name] cancels ability" "[character name] cancels ability" "[character name] cancels ability" "[character name] cancels ability" "[character name] cancels ability" "[character name] cancels ability" "[character name] cancels ability" etc ... Anyway, not too bad and it only appeared after a very graphic heavy battle, and it started near the end of it so I am guessing if I just saved and reset the game it would clean it up, if it happens another time will see if restarting jogs it. Spoiler Oh thanks for info. (seems gog server is somewhat troubled atm, sadly) Well i know things were working ok, then broke. And - thing about damage nerf and magrans shield? It seems to be counting as second weapon, and lowering damage of mainhand (which makes it completely useles, with 7 pen and so low accu, it never makes up for it). Or this is fixed too? Unsure, but I think the shields with bash counting as a second weapon has been that way since POE1, but fixed somewhat in POE2 see this thread here: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/106429-questions-about-bash-shields/?hl=%20shield%20%20bash You really have to build your character around the shield vs just picking it up! And if you are talking about "Tuotilo's Palm" it should count as an offhand weapon so should give the penalties of Dual Weilding - but if you don't have another weapon in hand not sure. A quick disclaimer - I am in no way an expert on the combat mechanics, but I know people in the: Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Characters Builds, Strategies & the Unity Engine (Spoiler Warning!) have it down to a science, but I don't think you incur a damage penalty, the only thing I can think of is your character was stuck attacking with the shield and if this is the case it should be fixed Though I could be wrong about the damage penalty, tried to do some research though

I thought of one more difference between the two: -random enemy encounters on the overland map - this is a staple of old RPGs vs the mini-quests in POE2 - both allow you to get that extra experience or a level when you need it < this is a tough one for me but I think Pathfinder so far found a good balance where I think POE2 made experience gain a little too accessible with the point A to point B quests. I mean you need the option to get a level but would rather fight for it

It sounds like you are saying I co opted this thread to be a comparison of PoE to PF:KM, as if the thread originally had some other purpose. Otherwise I don't understand your use of "co opt (or co-op'd as you wrote it). So I don't think you are missing any irony as much as I seem to be missing your point. Oh shoot totally sorry didn't mean it as a negative, was actually pretty excited to discuss the topic, sorry didn't mean it to come off the wrong way I mean it is just a forum thread, and your thread!!! Edit: was making a pun on video games with co-op'd ... what's that rule in the web where no one knows your are being sarcastic etc etc
