  1. Searched the forum, didn't find any reference to it yet so not sure if new or old. I am getting a uniform, and strange text string on my Cyclopedia Beastiary pages, it is on all my Beastiary entries: "tShock:00, Crush: 00" Here is a screen shot attached and you can check out a saved game here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1ah1qhqSgkBWRJZKcFPXjUIzWx8yUSQJg
  2. Orlando Bloom - as Drizzt Do'Urden this time since they couldn't just leave him dead in BG
  3. I always equated Eothas with the word Ethos - Ethics Thaos with the word Pathos - Passion POE3 Logos??? - Logic or perhaps the logical conclusion of the trilogy so now they must make a 3rd. Interesting they are all persuasions for arguments too.
  4. Beta’s been out for a while. Announcements are usually made in the Beta sub. Yeah - normally I get an announcement on the steam page for the Beta, anyway no big deal happy to wait for the patch and check it out this weekend.
  5. I am answering my own question!! How did I miss this what is wrong with me ...https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/105415-v210-is-now-available-on-the-beta-branch/
  6. I hope you're joking about your fav line lol I mean, I saw people post about the line a while back ... but normally don't want to contradict people's opinion but that cat is out of the bag already so - I saw that line and it made me laugh, and choose it every time. I really liked it. It was perfect!! (call me unsophisticated if you must - but just don't call me a boat lover). I don't know ... if I had a criticism of Deadfire story and plot, it would be that there isn't more of it, but not that it is deficient but the fact that I want a huge game that plays for the entire year!! LOL which is asking too much. Even more so I wish there were more lines of dialogue to choose from, instead of five or 8, why not 10 or 15 please!!! Last thing I will say is about Star Wars ... I keep hoping they turn Timothy Zahn's books into movies - the Heir To The Empire trilogy was great!! It just seems so out of place when it's availavle. Like a teenager wrote it to be a meme or something. I should probably make it my signature and call it a day ... most of the story I find pretty immersive especially when I look at them individually. Deadfire may have done a slightly better job at fleshing out motivations for a few quests, or tying a few together better, or making some a little more involved, but when I play the game I really dig it - and there are many of them that were exceedingly great - can't wait to play BoW after reading some comments. I agree with a lot of the critiques too, and think there are some great ideas popping up. I have one complaint that irked me lol: Truth though most of my minor critiques got mentioned in these forums so I am not saying anything new ...

  8. That would explain the mixed bag of where POE2 is falling on the Top Sellers chart, and I don't doubt it is a mix of marketing and actual data - and again who the heck knows, just thought it was interesting stats that I have been tracking. I own only RPG games and rarely visit other types of games. Still curious if it is gonna get back up on my top 30 list once all the new RPG's release.
  9. "I.Hate.Boats" that's my favorite line ... I mean I like to read as much as the next person, just finished The Broken Earth Trilogy. Here is a question for you about good writing - why is the Twilight series so popular - I mean you could spend days picking the writing apart but still people love them. Faulkner wrote whole paragraph's as a single sentence. I can't figure out what the hell Samuel Becket did with Molloy, Malone Dies and The Unnamable - but there is a whole line of scholarship behind his writing. Did you ever try to read Infinite Jest ... I mean writing rules are meant to be broken - though if you were part of the M.G.M society from Massachusetts I could see the problem ...
  10. I really wasn't making that numbers up I gave and do check every few days - it rarely drops out of the top 50 sellers, but as others stated I have no idea what that means. For some context - Withcher 3 was on sale this week for super cheap - Divinity 2 just released a new version (also at reduced price) - and Dragon Quest XI is also releasing today - these have definitely knocked Pillars down the chart which is understandable - it is pretty far down right now lol - that's what I get for expositing. With Pathfinder releasing I don't see Pillars getting in the Top 30 for awhile, but it would be interesting to see if it makes it back to that position. Hopefully the DLC ticks it up a bit. I have noticed it gets a bump in its positive reviews as they fix bugs too. Totally out of context - Dragon Quest totally knocked DOS2 out of the top spot ...
  11. I have been tracking it pretty weekly on Steam, it rarely falls out of the top 50 selling RPG games, not sure about the overall boards. It has a consistent 82 percent approval rating that hasn't moved in months which is better than Final Fantasy 15, Battletech and a majority of other games that are also in the Top 50. It also has over 3,500 total reviews and they keep going up monthly. The original Pillars has like 7,000 and something. I don't know, was it a blockbuster success? It is definitely selling. Interesting about that sales article it is a month old now.
  12. Don't get me wrong, I think POE2 is great, definitely my favorite game right now, but I keep coming back to this idea that maybe it isn't open world enough ...
  13. Not through Steam (as far as I can tell). Fingers crossed they release the Beta for testing next week! Curious about some of the technical bug fixes.
  14. Yep, totally non-biased ... oh wait, except against people's sexual orientation. But now that I think about it, you didn't mean non-biased, you meant biased they way you like it (which is obviously "missionary" - so in other words boring) - or even better it was so honest, it honestly showed the writers character perfectly - but honest I'm sure you could read the same reviews on the Steam comments page, and honestly I wish the dude said something new and interesting but sadly he fell into the same stereotypes - he's afraid of god and man, so basically he is a bad stereotype of a southern evangelical ... its like fascists - they can yell how much they hate people all they want and disguise it as freedom of speech or "truth", but eventually someone in the street is gonna knock them out .... Anyway all good jokes deserve another: My grindr went off in my Uber pool and the women in front of me said, "I recognize that sound. My husband plays that game all the time!"
  15. If I have kids I hope I never find them reading the comments on that site ... But in regards to the combat, slo-mo mode can be liking pulling teeth, but I never have the same issue that I did with Pillars 1 where combat got confusing even when I am losing... Funny thing, every time combat did get confusing in Pillars 1 - I was on the verge of getting beat to a pulp, most of the time it meant I wasn't tackling it the right way ... Well, than there was that bug in POE1 bug with Commander Baelorin - it took me awhile to figure out why that fight was so tough ...
  16. That plate did look really good, so have my vote. (something, something blood boiling ... )
  17. @Mikeymoonshine fair enough point and I definitely can't argue with that, the evidence is literally right here. But to your comment, I really didn't have an issue with the way the story unfolds, the writing, the characters, etc because it unfolds pretty similar to text heavy CRPG games that I started playing - and this is basically that there is no story, only the one you seek out and find (mysterious music cue here) - of course, other than that time-tested general idea that the world, or you is going to end soon if you don't click the map and move your character to whatever the game designer puts in front of you first. I actually find the way Pillars started genius for the niche genre. My point was only that many games abandoned this and started to merge the traditional Adventure game with the RPG because most people want something more engaging as it makes the game more accessible, and turned out to be a selling idea - now you just don't have to like to explore and discover, fight and steal magic items - it gives you other ways to play the game and get something out of it. Perfect example: people mention the lore of Pillars - I never had an issue with it, but I also read everything, even the books, journals, mosaics. I actually am digging uncovering the mysteries. But I do read the comments and think all these points are valid and good feedback, the only thing I don't dig is trashing the game writers since I am sure the put a lot into it (even if these were mistakes people hate), I think they did a pretty bang-up job (don't hate me for being a cheerleader). Truth, I have complaints too for sure, but ***** where is that spoiler tag!!!! Is there an html coding section I am missing!!!! Now what is really on my mind, why do people hate RTWP so much - jk???
  18. Man this thread is old lol. But that quote above is your answer to this whole entire thread. The real question - why does a game like Dragon Quest 11 sell 3 million copies and it isn't even out in the US yet - DOS can't even boast of that??? Easy - it is accessible to all ages - Dragon Quest more than DOS, DOS more than POE, checkers more than chess. Or even better why did RPGs stop having text based interactions with NPCs where you had to type in your questions rather than pick them from the menu (fyi - I was really upset when this happened lol)? - Easy answer, because it was difficult and not accessible for everyone (or you could blame RPGs like Dragon Quest again). To go along with this why did RPGs start to abandon text heavy descriptions - again easy answer, better audio and visuals - why read a story when you can watch it, which made it more accessible. For that matter why did Larian abandon the really hard puzzle quests in DOS1 when they created DOS2? Same answer - people get frustrated and it wasn't accessible. Why does a game like Pillars get criticized for being text heavy - because it is and not everyone likes it that way - its not as accessible as a story line with lighter writing and straightforward plots - it literally makes you read almost everything. Why does Pillars seem boring? Because RPGs have changed and are more adventure games these days and that's what people want! I am really happy that a game like DOS2 is doing as well as it is since it means that many core elements of the classic RPGs, though changed and updated, will continue to exist. Pillars structure in terms of story and pacing, open world and side quests is pretty good, definitely great for role playing. it's too much to get into the comparisons and details for me so I will leave that to everyone else. I would argue that Pillars is much more like a "Malazan Book of the Fallen" novel and Divinty a lot closer to a "Stormlight Archive" novel. I always thought that Pillars pulled a lot from the Erikson books, and I would be interested in creating a sapper like Fiddler to play in Deadfire!!!
  19. It sounds like what is good about Pillars right now is all the ways you can play and will be able to play - what's not good is the drop off at higher levels. I do remember people saying when the new PoTD balance came out that it seemed like they only really did it for the first half of the game. So I'm not giving up on the Obsidian until is all said and done. I don't care if they fix the bugs first and wait to do a final balance after all the DLCs come out, but that doesn't mean I don't want to see it. Maybe ... after reading the last few comments, maybe they did it like they did in anticipation for the challenges (just a question - not trying to make a definitive statement)? Even if that is true would still like to see the drop-off in difficulty lessened on normal PoTD with a party and no mods, I would also argue they won't get rid of it completely, no game ever does.
  20. And you should never be able to crush enemies in a fight in a majority of encounters with single blows, some encounters sure but ... I mean that really was the issue before the first PoTD rework patch that made me put it down for a little until they did some balancing. If this is still happening it would be awesome if they fixed it please!!!! Haven't had as much time to play and have started over a few times due to patch updates so haven't gotten to the high levels yet, but hope to reach them around the time the next DLC arrives, if I have time!!! Ugh, wish I still got summer break ...
  21. The Broken Earth Trilogy

  22. - Being a pirate - Game mechanics (slow motion combat mode, thieving mechanic is way cooler, Food bonus resting and crafting, Pets mechanic, how skills stack between characters, etc) - game replayability with the various classes, companion NPCs, factions and ways to solve quests *In regards to Benwith ... what?!!!!! I missed that lol - the agony of having to pick between two evils ... - graphics and animations look great
