Tbh, I got it free as a gift from a friend on Steam last year but your point still stands as I have bought other games based on appealing graphics/art styles. How do they go backwards? I don't understand how devs cause their games/franchises to devolve! Why try to change what the fans love so much???

An answer I'm used to hearing and one that contradicts itself. I mean, if that was the case, every developer who pours in hours of hard work would get rewarded, no? Every good/great game would be a success and no developer would be closing their doors, this obviously isn't so.I can't relate the gaming industry to all things in life, maybe musicians... Musicians would be a valid work hard and only out of luck do they become noticed. It's about as close to a real example I can get. Everyone works hard, or at least they say they do. As far as getting rewarded for it - well, that all depends on the person's definition of rewarded. Hard work can be coupled with luck, usually with alt of competitors, it's just that. Something I have learned over the years is that the games industry is a different kind of business, sure it's easy to say "The Witcher 3 is a phenomenal game" but what if it wasn't? It would still have those 1 million pre-sales... all because of hype and a great demo. This industry has alot to do with luck, whether people want to admit it or not. Let's also get to another fact that The Witcher 3 was bought mostly by people who had never even played a Witcher game before. Anyways back to the OP's question,an important thing to keep mind about PoE franchise is that they're crowd funded games and only on one platform. You're missing the point. He is not saying that hard work automatically equals success, but that to get 'lucky' in this business you still need to put the hard work in and develop a good game to get lucky with. It's like the lottery: you can only get 'lucky' and win it if you actually play it, but playing it does not mean you will be automatically lucky. You put the work in and then hope you get lucky. Of course, where you put the work doesn't necessarily mean the game in the gaming business, EA shows you can get lucky if you pour the hard work into advertising and marketing instead, but that's a debate for another time.Precisely. That's why I said it wasn't "dumb" luck in a prior comment. While we're on the subject, allow me to say that CD Projekt Red didn't/doesn't work harder than any other developer. In fact, I'm going to go so far as to say that I know 1-5 person indie game developer teams work much harder on games that may never be seen by anyone here. They will never play the lottery and they deserve more of a chance than CD Projekt Red. I don't expect people here to agree with me because I know that there are alot of Witcher lovers on this forum. I love Witcher too though so it's okay

Coming from someone who has ME2 but has never played an ME game before... I was afraid to buy it, I almost did but then I stopped and thought "It looks TOO pretty and that's usually a bad sign" for fear that the franchise may have become another Call aof Duty, Halo, etc. Where graphics and marketing matter more than the actual gameplay itself... Was I wrong to think so?

Be happy, because after posting yesterday I went grocery shopping and bought the ingredients. I couldn't find black cocoa powder (it's really not easy to get by in France) but regular cocoa will do, I think. I'll post a picture of my Dark-ish Rauatai Cookies when I'm done baking them. Not today (I have to bake other stuff before that), but in a few days for sure! Please do! Please do!

Other Godlikes
SonicMage117 replied to DrTomT18's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I think Josh Sawyer answered a similar question in the most recent Q&A... Somebody asked "Will there be more types of godlikes in Deadfire?" To which Josh replied "No, because insanely hard to create, even though the artist loves doing it" I'm not sure if it was about playable race or npc's. I have tosay, your question is a good one. I think godlikes are a pretty intriguing part of pillars' world. I'm glad that this is an original race for the game. -
ummm... I don't get it, how am I a rat for bringing back the classics? I'm lost lol Edit: Come to think of it, a wheel of cheese would be delightful right about now >:-F

Definitely hoping for some epic battles as well! It would be pretty neat. Cargo management would be interesting and cool, I had not thought of that. Lol Icey icey

Pertaining to ships and sailing, what do you, the player, hope to see in Deadfire? Me, I'm really hoping to see full throttle Pirates Of The Caribbean scale ships. I'm hoping to see sea-creatures like Giant Crabs and Cthulhu-esque being. I'm really hoping that we will see Megaladons and Mermaids. Mermaids that can be friendly or hostile. That would be great. I want Obsidian to get jiggy with it and let loose the funk and be like "FUNK ALL Y'ALL!" What do you hope to see and what do think will realistically be in there?

Torment: Tides of Numenera Released
SonicMage117 replied to Infinitron's topic in Computer and Console
But atm I only game on Steam. While I have alot games via Origin and GoG, I found Steam to be a better place to play. So I'd like for it to come to Steam. If not, I guess I'll be missing on a great game. It's okay, I've survived this long -
I think mine was a 9800pro with 512mb iirc... And now sporting a 1080ti... how times have changed. I used to be ATi only, at that time ATi was at the top lol

Serious Fighters vs Anime/Waifu Fighters
SonicMage117 replied to SonicMage117's topic in Computer and Console
That's exactly how I feel about Soul Calibur! They really seem to go backwards, it must be a Namco thing lol Soul Blade and Soul Calibur 1 and 2 were all perfect and then after that, things started getting weird. The last one was horrid from what I heard so I didn't even bother to play it. I'll try out Tekken 7 just for the heck of it. I'm hoping it does well. Net codes seem to be a cause of some games going bad too. So hopefully they nail that. Street Fighter ticks me off the most, I can't stand by a game that (in my opinion) has such a weird art style. I'm a huge fan of 2D sprites. Thanks, the real waifu only apporves of Zelda and D&D lol- 16 replies

I have to be honest, I quit playing all the serious fighters like Tekken, Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur and Steet Fighter games. I've seemed to have moved on to anime fighters. At 30 years of age, I'm playing games with waifu's jumping around all over each other. My wife comes into the computer room and gives me strange looks at times because she is not a fan of anime or the message that it conveys to the young audience which I can understand but anime fighters are addictive. That's where it's at now... I've become "that guy". NOTE: Keep in mind that I'm not really into anime, waifus, visual novels, hentai, dating sims or anything like that so this was a strange thing for me to get into it. It's still surprises me if I am to be completely honest. Here's a list of some good ones available on Steam (in my opinion): Arcana Heart 3 Love Max!!!!! Melty Blood Current Code Accent+ Chaos Code - New Sign Of Catastrophe Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel Do you play fighting games? If so, which ones? Do you have any fond memories of older fighting games that you've played growing up?

Torment: Tides of Numenera Released
SonicMage117 replied to Infinitron's topic in Computer and Console
Is it really that great? I've been hearing mixed reviews... I never played the first one lol I'm gonna wait til it gets a remaster/HD version. I don't care how long it takes. -
I have 16gb ram in my desktop and 8gb in my Alienware Alpha. There's no noticable difference in "most cases" but usually the games I play are very demanding. Arkham Knight, Just Cause 3 to give a couple examples where performance was not varied due to missing/adding half the ram amount. I recommend you get a total of 16gb of ram just for some extra headroom. 32gb or anything more is overkill for gaming so don't worry about that.

There's no way for anyone to truly tell what the future of Crpg's is or what it will be. We're the community, it's all speculation and biased assumption at this point. The thing is that the industry changes so rapidly and is always full of surprises so there's no way in which we can put something in a box. Speculating is always fun though lol

I'm looking to something bright and colorful, yet haunting... how about that place from Bastion?

Classic DS game "Lock's Quest" is coming to Steam in an HD remastered form next month and I'm excited about it.

You must be fun at parties. I'm glad I could be a record breaker, now go change your panties I'm sure you have more important things to get offended at right? -
Shame that I already spent more money that I should have this month on backing other projects (namely Deadifre and Sunless Skies) or I would have backed the heck out of this thing For now though, I'm going to recommend a hardcore tactical mech game to you guys that's a little different. Hopefully you'll like it: http://store.steampowered.com/app/274500

Taking turns between three games: Dex, Renegade Ops and Metro 2033 *Redux. Looking forward to Lock's Quest HD, Crossing Souls and Shakedown Hawaii to come to Steam. Once they do, I'll probably be playing those two more than anything for a bit. Rarely do I ever just play one game at a time. It's probably because I want to get some time in the games that are in my backlog.
