It had an optional coop, which didn’t work unless you really really wanted it to. It was a single player game with an optional coop. Divinity1&2 is a coop game with an optional singleplayer. Personally though, I am against “typecasting” developers. If Larian sets their mind on doing a strong singleplayer experience, with still lighthearted but less absurd writing, I am sure they can do it. They are clearly a talented bunch. First though, we do need to confirm what this “III” stands for.

State of TB mode?
Wormerine replied to Kordanor's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Turn-based Mode is as good as it’s gonna get. I am deep into my playthrough using it, and it is in good enough state to warrant a playthrough if you are not into RTwP. It’s underlying issues haven’t really been resolved - most of all, the game doesn’t properly translate action speed from RtwP meaning classes and characters who benefit from quick recovery don’t get this advantage in TB. Heavy hitting weapons are simply a flat out better choice, abilities which give more “initiative” are skippable, and some classes which rely on quick attacks (monks!) are pushovers. As for the pace, I think it becomes clear pretty quickly that the game wasn’t designed with TB mode in mind, but I think it is quite alright, until you get to DLCs - I am making my way through SSS and some of the fights can take a really really really long time. I mean make a coffee in a thermos and pack a launch kind of long. -
Considering the multiplayer focus of Divinities, even if BG3 were a thing I wouldn't hold my breath for it to be designed as a single player experience. Divinity right now is a bigger IP then BG, and they would want to attract Divinity audience. And those will expect coop gameplay and adventure editor.

I am into that stuff. I would love Deadfire to have a more indepth and reactive world map in general. However, I don't think the game would benefit much of it. I don't even thing the exploit OP found to be a big deal. Money just isn't an important enough part of the game. So you have infinite money. Does it break the game? Not really, more items, just mean more of choice, and most of them are achieved via progresing the quests. Upgrades might be the biggest offender, as theoretically a player might jump from fine - to legendary... if one knows were to buy necessary crafting components. As someone who is on my 3rd playthrough.... I have no idea. Money in Deadfire is fairly irrelevant because it is not a game about making money. Intimidation exploit is an unfortunate oversight but it is not something that makes or breaks the game. I did try it out of curiosity and I just don't see why I would do it. Money gain isn't good enough to compete with selling bunch of Superb items. Infinite stash already breaks any chances of having a balanced economy. One might farm some gold, but for what purpose?

Well, that's apple to oranges. If including references to Baldur's Gate in the code were a misdirection, in the very worse case it might be an infringement on IP. It would be an odd case, as Larian never used this IP. What Bethesda did was a pure pligirism - copying someone elses work as their own. I must say it would be an odd prank, but at the same time I am willing to give Larian credit of the doubt that they wouldn't make such a rookie mistake, when putting up the page designed to tease, without revealing much. Unless the intent was the indirect reveal. Uuuuuu.

Uhhh... Need to get back to it. I got myself a pad couple months ago and picked up DS1 and loved it. Picked up DS2 and so far I found very little enjoyment in it.

Woedica's Book
Wormerine replied to Wormerine's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
A quest item yes. I got it the same way one gets a missive. -
My bet would still be in it being D:OS3. However, if it was Baldur’s Gate3, or another D&D adventure pencil me in as interested. While D:OS2 wasn’t my cup of tea, those guys clearly have a knack for RPGs, though I am more interested in singleplayer experiences, then their social experiments. Whatever they do, I will keep my eye on it.

Microsoft makes a promise to release their games at launch on steam: https://www.pcgamer.com/microsoft-games-on-steam-announced/ Really happy about that as they purchased multiple studios I am interested in. There is also this bit: Let’s hope that means we might see Obsidian and inXile stuff on GOG. Either way good news.

Patch Notes for 5.0.0
Wormerine replied to Cdiaz's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Announcements & News
For me SSS arena and backstage are still the worst offenders. With some tweaks everything else works fine for me. Disabling lights in the hub of SSS made it fine, but the actual arena is still rough. -
Do we need seperate trinkets for each subclass? How about a trinket which would work like heart-chime amulet, granting different boon for different subclass (although my PC has both breaths and rymrgand’s chimes, and when I checked if he gets double bonus, the boon he had was... moon godlike?) what do you guys think about quaver trinkets? Like limited unique missiles for ranged weapons?

I don’t know the backstory. At the time I was less interested in the behind the scenes. What I remember is the odd sense that they tried it go more open world, but didn’t put anything beside main story. Main story being busy introducing many many characters with some awkward time jumps and pretty weak character development. I remember really not liking the “mature” content of M2. Doing Scorsese style dialogue and such is not easy. It ain’t enough to throw bunch of f- words to get there. Oddly enough the soft approach of M1 felt to me more genuine and involving even with its really not subtle references. Also M2 felt like a console game. I liked M1 gunplay.

Woedica's Book
Wormerine replied to Wormerine's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Book should be given to you upon leaving Neketaka. -
Mafia bundle looks tempting. I adore Mafia 1, Mafia 2 was disappointing but I played it when it released, would like to give it another go. Mafia III I hear is pretty bad. Apparently music is missing from M1&2, which is baaad, but I saw mods for that. Maybe I will pick up Kingmaker with seasonpass. Hopefully, it will cover Enhanced Edition once it releases. Maybee the Thronebreaker. But at the same time, I am not really feeling it. I have time until 17th to make up my mind:-).

That additional PEN for imbued spells applying both to the spell and the shot itself is a bit crazy. Looking forward to the fix in the next build of CP.

Woedica's Book
Wormerine replied to Wormerine's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
No, I don’t think so. When you get the book you will have an opening conversation about some things. After that Woedica will want to talk to you after certain quests. If you start in the middle of the play through, you will get long chain of Woedica commenting on every relevant choice you did up to this point. -
Picked up Void Bastads. I love the art style, and so far the game looks promising. Pretty tough.
