Critical hits/misses are relics of the past, remnants of pen & paper gaming, that should be forgotten. They bring totally unnecessary random element in to the game which is only detrimental to strategic combat. I want to win, or lose, because I made meaningful tactical choices, not because of a roll of dice.

The Monk Class
trulez replied to Aedelric's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
If anyone, with a bit of training, can channel their soul to either defensive or offensive powers that rival any weapon or armor, then why are weapons and armors not obsolete ? A fighter who moves and strikes without any encumbrance is surely faster, more accurate and harder to hit than one encased in steel. There is no need for two different disciplines of fighting skills to co-exist if one does the same job better than the other, it would be only logical that EVERYONE would switch to the one that is better (par few conservatives). -
The Monk Class
trulez replied to Aedelric's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Martial Art is completely ineffective against armoured and armed opponents, so yes, I am completely against introducing such a illogical immersion breaking class to any game. -
Should encounters have aggro mechanics?

Transformation - Morphs the player to look like the target of the spell. This would let Mages do what Rogues do but in a completely different way. Want to get past that guard at the gate ? Rogue: Sneak Mage: Morph into a guard and walk past Want to convince that quest NPC to give up cricital information ? Rogue: Diplomacy Mage: Morph into his friend and ask him Want to open that locked chest in the backroom of the inn ? Rogue: Picklock Mage: Morph into the owner of the inn and ask for the key This would open up ALOT of different options on how to play the game, and how to influence the world around you.

A dog companion?
trulez replied to bonarbill's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Dog's been done, and then done some more. Original animal companion would be nice though, even better if it's magical/mystical or other worldly (like Okku the Bear God in MOTB). -

[Merged] Combat Friendly Fire
trulez replied to vril's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Friendly fire should be one of those difficulty toggles that were suggested in another thread. Some like it, others don't, let the player choose. -

Most of the criticism really only pertains to games like MMOs where questing and leveling up IS the game. I don't think anything you said pertains to offline single player RPG genre. The player who chose to be a brutal warrior slashing through hordes of baddies did so knowing that there would be hordes of baddies for him to slash through to finish the game. Same is true for the stealthy thief who chose his class knowing he'd be able to slip past and sneak around most if not all obstacles and baddies in order to finish the game. Does it REALLY matter that somewhere out there someone finished that same quest few seconds faster than you just because you're the warrior and he's the thief ? I think not.

Identifying found items
trulez replied to Piccolo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
There's nothing good about identifying found items on the spot with lore/scroll, it's just annoyance. Either drop the identification mechanic, or make it a proper one, where you haul the item to a legendary smith/craftsman who holds on to it for days while it's being identified, and maybe even requires you to do a quest ("To identify the true power of this items I need some dragon eyes, would you fetch them for me while I study this artifact in detail?"). -
Project: Eternity and Characterization
trulez commented on Chris Avellone's blog entry in Chris Avellone's Blog
Gann the Hagspawn was an awesome character, anything similar would be greatly appreciated in Eternity. -
Respawning enemies.
trulez replied to Labadal's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
If they're not going to reward XP from killing, like stated in the recent update, then it makes no sense to force non-stealth players to clear out areas again and again. -
Urgency: Please Have It
trulez replied to Zombra's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I wouldn't mind seeing few quests with urgency implemented, but those should be OPTIONAL quests, none of the main line quests should have it. -
