New beta client has Trade feature to trade games with other Steam users. They have dedicated Trade forum for people to post what they need/offer: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/foru...play.php?f=1189 I'm offering Robin Hood for any other similarly small game.

I've never found that to be the case, even now that I'm in the US. Every new big brand title on Steam costs 49,99 EUR, while I can get the boxed version from play.com or verkkokauppa.com for ~35 EUR. This is the case with EVERY game ever released on Steam & retail. Example: Deus Ex: HR Steam = 49,99 EUR http://store.steampowered.com/app/28050/ Play.com = 34,99 EUR http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/9976061/De...;searchsource=0 EDIT: wrong quote >.<

I just hover over the crash site / base until it's noon, and then enter.
-
Deus Ex: HR I guess this is what AP should have been like. Feels like I'm playing some Mass Effect / AP hybrid with improved everything.

That is the absolute definition of raping an established game setting. I think I lost few brain cells just watching that demo.

Blizzard launched their new Diablo 3 community site: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/ Seems like 1:1 copy from WoW.

That's kinda the idea, I mean it's you who's trying to make the case that these mythical gamers without INTERNET are out there. I'm only responding to what you claim. The original question was "But what about those without a stable internet connection? What should a player do if, say, the internet wiring in his house is flawed? ", I don't see any mention of BROADBAND. And that's because you do not need broadband to play online, don't try to shift the argument to something it wasn't in the first place. Here's a study about internet usage in the US during 2010: http://www.internetworldstats.com/am/us.htm Users with any type of access: 239,893,600 Users with broadband: 85,287,100

Steam does exactly same, and even publishes those details, and I don't see anyone crying foul over that. I guess it's cool to hate EA, but not Valve. I'm not too savvy with the technical details on these matters, nor am I hating anything yet (except for cabbagesoup), but someone at other forums put it out that Steam only monitors what you do in/with Steam but doesn't touch non-Steam matters (outside of the optable surveys). Any truth to that? Steam has it's VAC (thanks Tale ) anti-cheat software which monitors all active processes at least. Here's Steam data collection section from EULA: Steam anti-cheat section from EULA: And here's Origin data collection section from EULA: This bit "Application usage (including but not limited to successful installation and/or removal)" means the Origin client. This bit "software, software usage" means active processes. So I guess EA is a bit more "creepy" by not giving you the choice to opt out from software data collection (unlike Steam HW survey), but they both DO collect the data. And nowhere in there was a mention about scanning your HDD for warez or logging your website browsing habits.

The color scheme on the in game screenshot looks way too pastel to me, and that completely destroys the nice concept which is more grim and gritty looking.

Fine, I'll bite. The US has a population of 308,745,538. According to this paper 72% of US citizens play video games (this includes everything from handhelds to consoles and PCs alike) so that would be 222,296,787 individuals. Do you know how many of those live in Montana ? 0,4 % http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_...e_United_States So yes, it is perfectly fine for Mr. Wilson to COMPLETELY ignore the whole state of Montana and still be successful in his business.

I didn't know Congonese were PC gamers with their $40 monthly wages and all, I guess you learn something new everyday. If you guys REALLY wanted to play D3 in the first place the internet requirement wouldn't deter you away. You remind me of: "Maan, this ain't no single player, this is a facist internet game, Diablo 3 to the ground!"
-
Hopefully it wont be as bad as Oblivion. I have nightmares involving leveling monsters, mundane loot, cloned dungeons and worst facial expressions ever.
-
I can agree with that, sure. But RPGs are not going vanish like HD-DVD did, they're evolving and merging with other traditional game types.
-
How's that any way related ?Everyone, the industry and consumers, benefitted from having one standardized storage medium instead of two competing ones. If you want to draw analogies from other industries try the music industry. Regardless how much I loathe Pop music it hasn't killed off the fringe groups that I like, and the same WILL apply to ARPGs / MMOs, they won't be killing traditional RPGs.

Good luck with that, there is no open beta, and they've stated as much. All they've announced is they're holding beta weekends in september where high number of people will be INVITED to join.

How is;-lower resolutions -lower computing power -lower game time due to battery life -inferior controls -inferior display quality just to name few, more convenient than succumbing to online DRM ? You're so delusional in your self righteous quest against DRM that you actually convinced your self to believe that switching to mobile phone gaming would be BETTER than playing on PC, as long as you don't have to be connected to internet. Now unless you can produce some kind of evidence that a SIGNIFICANT number of players are abandoning PC as a platform in favor of mobile phones ONLY BECAUSE of DRM I think we're done here.
-
Is that sarcasm? Please let it be sarcasm, because otherwise I'd have to think you're a complete tool. Playing games on your cellphone in order to protest PC DRM, bwahahahaha-aaah! Thanks mate, that was really the best joke I've ever heard.

OMG so blocky, my eyes burn!

Doesn't sound promising:"The game has apparently had a rocky development, with the project being restarted several times thanks to tech issues, creative differences within the team and a number of staff leaving the studio. " But I would soooo love to see a new proper Syndicate game.

And the difference here is that in a MMO you can choose to not interract with the population of the server, and in D3 you CAN'T interract with the population of the server. Typical MMO is like going to a night club, you're surrounded with people but you don't have to interact with them, they might still bump into you, you might pick up some chatter or some jerk might want to punch you in the face. D3 is more like like a VIP room, you could go alone if you want to and you'd be truely alone, but you could also invite few other people to make it a party. It seems to me you're trying to force a square peg in to a round hole, but I can't understand why.
