SCII single player saves are stored locally on your PC. SCII had very basic DRM, just like any other single player. D3 saves won't be stored locally, so pirates need to simulate D3 server in order to get working saves. It's going to be either a) simulation software the user installs and plays offline, b) unofficial D3 server where you play&save.

I don't doubt that D3 will get cracked eventually, but it might actually take a while because the crackers would have to build load/save game feature from scratch.

In a MMO you can't avoid other people. Every game you mentioned above has a zone/area where multiple people congregate, Diablo 3 doesn't have that. You could in theory play D3 in a way that you wouldn't _ever_ see or hear anyone else, and that's what makes it just a single player game with multiplayer component. And it still misses the integral part of MMOs, being Massive. No matter how you put it, the maximum number of people in D3 at any given time is less than 10 (4v4 arena PVP matches). If less than 10 people is what qualifies for MMO status then we need to re-brand a lot of games out there.

No but professional football is a job done for money. A game shouldn't be the first, and you ain't gonna see the second unless you're in the top 10. I'm sorry but you're completely missing the point. Those who are passionate about sports or video games play them regardless, it's just convenient for them if they also get paid. And those of us with similar passion but no talent like to watch those games being played, and that's usually where the money starts coming in. E-sports just happens to be still in it's infancy and hasn't been able to build that money making machine yet, but that day will come for sure.

It's not really MMO now is it ? I mean the name gives it a away, Massive Multiplayer Online, there are no Masses that you could play with simultanously. It certainly is Multiplayer Online but those games, and there are many others, have never had any designation indicating they feature multiplayer. There is no Darkspore MO, Starcraft MO or Battlefield MO and there definitely should not be Diablo 3 MO. I think it's vast improvement over normal single player because it offers everything your run of the mill SP would, and more (AH, cloud saves, co-op, social network).

It is also increasingly becoming a data mining tool. All for the improved customer experience of course... Do you have cookies enabled on your browser? That's a data mining tool.Do you use Steam ? That's a data mining tool. Do you shread all your mail before tossing it ? Someone could be mining your datas. Do you use Google ? Guess what, they're mining your datas too. It's healthy to be slightly paranoid about what goes on around you, but I think you guys are taking it just a bit too far. When you start fearing the boogey man is running your favourite game company (Blizzard) it's time to see a doctor.

I could not have said it better, that's exactly how I felt when I played TW2.
-
That's so very relevant question, because that's exactly what I think when I'm buying games; "What if I decide to take a trip in a train, would I still play this game?". ...and nobody said anything, because it didn't affect me. When they started demanding that your webcam was on all the time, so they could watch your behavior while playing, nobody said anything, because it didn't... etc. It's just as much about moving borders and thresholds for what is acceptable. Wait, let me get my tinfoil hat before we talk about this, you never know who's listening. On a more serious note, requirement for internet connection is a DRM sceme, which I gladly accept over installing some dubious 3rd party software that checks god knows what from my computer.
-
What kind of ****ty internet connection do you have that isn't always online ? This is what your complaint sounds like: "I have to keep my PC plugged in to the power outlet in order to play? Outrageous!" Because in these modern times internet connections have about the same uptime as your power does, it's maybe down couple hours a year during a storm.

I see your Deathtrack and raise you with Death Rally.

I didn't mean games that I own on Steam, I meant games that I own, that can be bought through Steam. like I said I hate Steam and I only use it to play games that were gifts or that require Steam to run at all. Say what ? If you haven't played any of those games on Steam, or haven't expereinced the lack of DLCs or the inability to use custom content, then what on earth you base your hate on ?

The Sims 3 with all the expansions. Bought em from Steam during the sale. Having a blast thus far (~16 or so hours played).

Gives a whole new meaning to "facerolling". O_o http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=faceroll

I call bull****. Even I could do that in Photoshop.

IMHO the bandit camp is the worst of the questlines. For my first play through I went with Inquisitors and it was much better structured and more immersive.
-
King's Bounty and it's expansions for 5,99? , if I didn't own them already I'd buy them in an instant.
-
Rango - animated movie with Johnny Depp as the main characters voice. What I thought about it: Meh.
-
Europe is ****ed.
-
I bought Alpha Protocol, The Sims 3 Complete Pack and both F:NV DLCs. Todays sale doesn't have anything I either don't have or would want. Four more days to go, but I'm running out of moneyz.

You can mod both games as much as you like, been there done that.
-
Firing up another run of KOTOR 2. I downloaded the mod tools and save-editor so I can fiddle with my hero in order to produce unique play through, but I haven't found anything interesting to fiddle with yet.

Which is excellent news, as WoW was already a very good game. Statements like this, they're the moments that I realise I am amongst rats. Which, when you understand WoW's basic psychological principle, makes total sense. *tap a button get some crack* Good business plan, but...*sigh* Sophistication is... Well its a waste on such people. I give you 1 out of 10 for that pathetic trolling attempt. Come back with something original. Fixed.

Which is excellent news, as WoW was already a very good game, but Star Wars as a setting is much more interesting than Azeroth. One thing you can't see from screenshots is the extensive voice over work, you'd have to play the game to experience the difference, and from what I've learned through official gameplay videos it does bring a whole new level to the immersion (i.e. fun).

Bought Commandos: Behind the Enemy Lines - Ammo Pack from GOG.com. I can't remember if I ever finished it back in the day, but at least the first mission felt very familiar. Works great out of the "box" even on Win7 x64.
