Let me get this straight, your solution to not being able to play games (DRM) is to not be able to play games (Platform). Sounds like a solid plan.

Alpha Protocol Back when it was released I gave it 5 minutes and threw it in the corner, now I'm giving it another go. I've done the tutorial and first mission, it's not as bad as I thought it was but it's pretty damn predictable and repetetive. Every area has the same 3-5 enemies and boring loot (cash & ammo) lying around, clear the room, open a door and repeat the exercise. I'm in Taipei safehouse now, does it get any better later on ?

Sims Medieval

Finished the game yesterday after ~50h of playtime. I think parts of it were improved from DA:O but some aspects had gone backwards. I liked the new fast paced combat style, there was plenty of useful skills available for all classes (mages could have used few more passive skills) and fights usually required some thinking (on Nightmare). Didn't like the constant recycling of same maps, nor the enemies that spawn on top of you out of thin air, nor the sheer amount of fights in the game(but that may be because of the difficulty setting which made every fight last very long). There was only ONE bug that I encountered, in the ACT 3 there was some lady kidnapped but the bandits on Wounded Coast never appeared. Overall I'm very happy I bought the game full priced, money well spent.

Dragon Age 2 The Sims: Medieval Revenge of the Titans I think those will get me through the wait of Portal 2 to be released.

Did you import a save or is that the default? I found Alistair broken at the Inn and I took "No Compromise" history during character creation.

Still playing Dragon Age 2, and I agree what Tale said about the loot system, it's horrible in DA1 and it's still horrbile in DA2. Just yesterday spent like 15 minutes sorting out all the loot I had accumulated to see if anything is better than what I had. Also playing some Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic on the side, that games does not look like it came out 2003, more like in the 90's.

It's not too much to ask, but they've made a deliberate decision to go with the current style in order to pursue the same epic feeling of space combat we've all seen in the movies. The current implementation allows for cinematic fly byes and scripted encounters in a way that would not be available in free flight form. I'm not saying their choice is better, but there is a clear logic behind their choice. Personally I'm hoping they'll build on it either via patched content update or via expansion, so we could have the cinematic space combats and some form of free flight exploration.

Looks like ****. I guess I'm skipping this one.

Why is that important ?

A + B != C All he confirms is that they rushed out the music score.

Playing Dragon Age 2. I'm still in the first city, taking a good look at the scenery and it feels awe inspiring. I find my self thinking: "What if they made KOTOR3 using DA2 enginge, I'd buy that.".

I started the game in Nightmare mode from the get go. I've now played my self to the city and I'm starting to regret it. All it does is turn every encounter into a kiting fest. I run around the enemies regenerating mana and blasting fire balls when they're ready, and that's how every fight goes. I haven't found a way to succesfully defeat any of the encounters with lieutenants or bosses without resorting to kiting, and what makes it worse is the fact that kiting is easy so the difficutly is not reallty even there.

Gothic I, damn those controls are bad.

DC Universe Online It's really fun, the combat is very fluid and there isn't any luls in the midst of the action. Character creation was great, there's so many things you can can choose it took an hour or so just to make my first character they way I want it. The price is a bit steep but if you're into fast paced superhero action I recommend it.

So what exactly is this grievous crime that is committed here which deserves your(addressing everyone here) absolute boycott of otherwise perfectly fine RPG experience ?Are you perhaps overreacting a bit, maybe a tiny little bit ? So the game requires you to activate it online, after which you can play it offline for several days before needing reactivation. Are you perhaps saying there's still a place in the earth where internet is not available once a week ? Bitch please.

Loving all the drama queens in this tread crying foul over a simple online check. Clearly the most draconian DRM ever invented, oh wait, it's not.

This is because games are getting more expensive, time consuming and risky. If you only sell 100.000 copies these days, then your game is a failure (commercially). It's because we gamers have kept demanding more and more stuff, for the same price - that they're doing this DLC business. In Denmark, films in cinemas have gotten more and more expensive over time, but game prices have pretty much stayed on the same level for as along as I can remember. I don't like this DLC business, I agree that they are effectively cutting out pieces of a game and selling them separately. But I understand it and therefore can't blame the companies for it. Movies at the cinema is established mainstream market, they don't really have any growth potential, so the only way to rake in more cash is by increasing the price of a ticket, or the price of the soda&popcorn etc sold at the venue. Games however are still a growing market, every year we hear that many new games have beaten the old sales records. There is plenty of revenue to be had by making a game that costs the same but is reached by wider audience.

Decided to try LOTRO, the dowload and patching took about 20h to finish. Played for about 10 minutes and deleted the game. Still playing Torchlight, I'm now at level 35 and the game is slowly starting lose it's appeal.

Also, just noticed they have KOTOR on sale for a measly 2 EUR, I'm going to buy it as a gift to all my friends.

Release Date: Dec 27, 2010 Nope! I'm going to have to buy me a second copy now. I second that.
