Crossbow and gun wielding idle animations
wanderon replied to Bix Copperblast's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)tbh they look fine to me especially considering the size they actually appear on the screen - it is an animated game - I grew up on Rocky & Bullwinkle and Popeye - these are much more realistic than those were clipping or not - I'm not expecting movie quality out of a 4M CRPG

Loading times! This is becoming the single biggest hindrance to enjoyment of game.
A lifetime!

So what does everyone think the best chants are?
She stuns them all with methane when the beans are on the fire... (party will trail stinking cloud traps behind them)

There's no reason companions to have fixed builds
Maybe they are what they are because the devs are operating under the concept that there are no bad builds and want to show that off for those who might be interested while allowing those who dance to a different drummer to go to the adventurers hall and make their party exactly as they wish - seems like a win win to me - well except that the adventurer builds will only have what personality their makers imagine - seems a fair trade off...

Hidden Items and Stealth made me stop playing the game...
In Baldur's Gate games, you had to actively search for traps, but searching for hidden doors was automatic and continuous. And in BG games unless you used an auto-pause you would discover the trap just as you stepped on it because the mechanic scanned once every six seconds and you were never moving slow enough to keep from over-stepping that time frame - that's not much of an issue with stealth and scout combined (well perhaps it is with the silly run-stealth)

Dont know if this is an oversight, or a problem just with me ....
Maybe playing a Wael priest removes all the fine rods...

What race/class did you pick?
Wood elf cipher (diplomat - rogue replacement) - 12/8/10/16/18/15 - most damage done in party (so far) and been knocked out the most as well - obviously a well balanced build. (just got to Defiance Bay level 4)
- So is this game actually good?

Hidden Items and Stealth made me stop playing the game...
Yeah what an immersion breaker to have to stealth slowly in dangerous areas just to discover hidden traps and other hidden items - you should be able to sprint through gabbing with your team and texting on your cell and not miss a thing...

Leave formation for scouting = ok. Re-enter formation = suddenly blocked?
One solution to your current scenario would be to have your rogue use that "shadowed" talent that makes them invisible after setting traps and/or one shotting someone and move them away from the enemies leaving the enemy a clear path to your tanks before attacking them from the rear?

Leave formation for scouting = ok. Re-enter formation = suddenly blocked?
Maybe the combat engagement area is larger and/or more critically defined than the non-combat area for movement purposes.

The No Bad Choices Thread
I think the in-game backers have contacted Josh and demanded an upgrade in combat prowess and a back up disappearing act when health reaches low levels for the next patch - get your hats while you can!

Ciphers failing to cast?
perhaps he was interrupted? in which case he fails to cast but doesn't lose his spell or focus

Map Markers ?
I have notes reminding me where there are camping supplies that did not fit in inventory. at least the markers only display text if you mouse over them (in case you want to remain in the dark and find out what it is by going to it) Of course that assumes you have the self control to not mouse over it...

Those of us who kickstarted the $65 pledge for the box, got the shaft
It was my understanding the regular box set (non-collector) were to ship with discs on a later date - it has only been a week since release - I suspect all is not lost quite yet. It is also my understanding we will recieve an email from Paradox when they ship - and because it comes from Paradox we may need to check junk/spam folder for it - I have not yet rec'd this so I assume it has not yet shipped.

Why don't the developers use this forum?
Perhaps it's becuase this is their forum because once they post something here they have to follow up and continue to discuss as people reply to their posts - since this IS the official forum - next they are spending all day jacking jaws with the masses and no work is getting done. So when you paid 15K for that car and were unhappy with the way the ash tray was left out do the Ford or Chevy or even BMW forums have the lead designer of the project coming on to explain why this was done? Think about it...

Easier way to move items out of stash?
You can sell directly out of the stash theres a chest icon to open it then clicking an item moves it to the sell area - same applies for inventory slots and if you want to remove items from the sell slot again just click it and it goes back to your inventory. (windows version)

Why allow resting in dungeons at all?
This was my expectation. I did try to follow the developer commentary as much as possible, but I think I missed the part where they overturned this decision. I can't help but feel that it would have been better with the original design. Perhaps they were worried about slaughtering too many sacred cows? I would suspect it was about compromise and balance - personally I think the current system is fine The current system is fine, for sure, but we're talking about a company that promised they were going to produce a new robust RPG system that aspires to fix the problems that plague the genre (D&D being the most prominent). Really, I feel like the only major difference between PoE and D&D is the way primary attributes work. I think you are a bit confused about promises - what was promised was not the bright new day of RPGs totally reworked from games gone by it was to create a spiritual successor to some of the most popular RPGs of the past - the IE games -

How is enchanting skill raised?
I believe the levels that are talking about are character levels not skill levels (there is no enchant skill that I am aware of)
