Odd Weapon Grouping?
wanderon replied to steelshark's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I kind of like the oddness of the groupings - I tend to have "extra" weapons for many characters (one slash one crush one or two ranged etc) and the odd groupings push me to try new options - altho I might have been happier with ruffian having one gun and one "normal" ranged weapon. (as well as noble) -
Actually on either hard or normal difficulty once you reach your camp supply limit you can no longer purchase or remove supplies from a container - you can attempt to buy them but the transaction will not go through and if you try to remove them from a container they will remain there - I've been using the note section of the journal to keep track of places I had to leave them in case I want to go back for them.

On true role-playing (?)
wanderon replied to Isolated Cat's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Stealth is your friend in dangerous environments - if you stealth into the cave and see how big that bear is (and its cub if playing on hard) it gives you the Khalid option immediately and once safely outside again you can mark the cave on your map for stew later when you have some assistance. Better part of valor! -
Totally agree with the OP setiments about the masses of "this _____ sucks" "How ____ should have been done" "Why you have to do ____" and other "why my opinion beats everyone elses opinion so you have to do this NOW" threads - All of this of course as the game is less than a week old and would be the perfect time to come to the forums for real (non-spoiler) discussions about PLAYING the game which of course are off the bottom of the page minutes after they are posted. I was going to post about this last night but then sighed "why bother" - thanks for offering me a platform for this small rant! Thank you Obsidian - the game is awesome - keep up the good work!

Well I logged about 200 hours in the beta and about halfway through those hours I switched from normal to hard so I am fairly familiar with how things work but the beta started you at level 4-5 which is much different than levels 1-3. I started the full game on hard and the "prologue" was pretty easy but once that was over things got much tougher and since I hate reload fests I backed off to normal so I could enjoy the game without feeling like I had to "cheat" to move forward. I am also a chronic restarter and already have a half dozen characters started as well altho I like this cypher better than most and will probably try to continue with him later today (unless I get a better idea)

Well I deleted my save games back to before we got the quest and I am going to see if I can't get the group up to level 4 which will give my casters access to level 3 spells which may make a huge difference - haven't decided yet whether to add an adventurer or not as well. It occurred to me as I wrote this that the group was also which may have also been a factor in our less than stellar performance...

Ok so I had gathered a party with Eden, Aloth, Durance, and my Cypher PC and after doing most of the stuff I stumbled over in the process of gathering them we were all level 3 - we got the quest for Raedricks' hold - I wasn't sure we were up for it alone so I hired a level 2 Paladin - and our party of 5 found our way to the end battle where we were pretty much overwhelmed - twice... (on normal) I'm thinking we are just too early (too low level) ?? What say you - what do you think the minimum level for this quest is assuming a party of 4-5 on normal?? NO SPOILERS PLEASE!!

Only have about an hour in the game so far - one character taken through the "prologue" on hard with dialogue labels turned off (two others only through character creation) - today is my first real game day and I will probably fiddle with a few builds before deciding on a character for a more dedicated run at the game (as if my restartitus was not going to kick in several times before anyone is more than a couple of hours in anyway) The prologue went fine on hard with a non min/maxed rogue built for dialogue/rp options (high int, per, res) - he was looking for rest by the time he got through the prologue but was not in much danger of dying at any point - I suspect the prologue is designed to be sort of forgiving anyway and if it turns out hard turns into a reload fest later I'll back off to normal with no regrets altho I'm pretty sure I want to keep the dialogue notifiers turned off and choose them from an RP standpoint and see where they lead me and not choose based on their labels - probably not going to go "expert" - will likely never try POTD but may well go for Ironman eventually (was big on No Reload IE games once I learned my way around them).

I'm having a blast, guys.
wanderon replied to Musicker's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Ditto - only an hour in but thus far I am extremely pleased! -
Items can always be put in the stash - some will go in automatically like quest items and ingredients - you just can't remove anything from stash when playing with the stash restricted except in certain areas (inn, stronghold etc) there is no way to drop items on the ground once you pick them up - feature not bug

So... Was it worth your pledge?
wanderon replied to Luridis's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Actually you contributed your thoughts and opinions and hours and hours of time doing so - cash is over rated - we each give what we can! -
So... Was it worth your pledge?
wanderon replied to Luridis's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
absolutely worth every cent and more because without our pledges a game like this would likely have never been made today! -
Not much point to unlimited stash if it's overwritten by encumbrance - you can always ignore the stash for everything except the items that automatically go there (ingredients and quest items) and restrict yourself to the individual "backpack" spaces if you really need restrictions on what you carry so PLEASE don't ask the developers to force encumbrance on the rest of us who want to concentrate on playing the game and not micromanaging inventory.

Pros & Cons - Steam vs GOG which will you pick and why?
wanderon replied to wanderon's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
In the US most debit cards can be used as either debit or credit - the difference being only the manner in which the outlet processes the sale - the outcome is still the same the money is deducted from your account immediately on processing - other differences between how a debit vs credit transaction plays out may vary from card to card. -
Some people prefer to determine the type and personality of their character and then use that as a benchmark for how said character would react to the world vs creating a character based on the world and the best way to approach that world.
