As far as meaning, the gods have always been analogous to real-world societal structures and the powerful in general. In this context, the fact that Woedica(the villain of the first game) is palling around with the other gods like she's one of the gang is a statement about the nature of the elite. The gods' petty squabbling and frequent asking of the Watcher's opinion on matters is a reminder that for all their grandeur they are still only human- not primal and unknowable, therefore not unchangeable or (possibly) undefeatable. You can see where the analogy goes from here, with the Wheel being the way the gods maintain their power by literally feeding on the common people, and the necessity of a whole new system being built rather than simply casting them down, but basically it's the same ideas as the faction quests (what kind of society should we have?) presented as high fantasy. I'm not sure what inherent worth Naasitaq has as a concept that means it would have been prima facie more meaningful than the main quest we have

There is loot- Mythical Adra Stone which allows you to make one weapon or armour Mythic quality, and a trinket for each boss. It'd be cool if they dropped rare crafting ingredients too, and the odd pair of boots or gloves or something since the spider and ooze at least have probably eaten a fair few adventurers

I guess I'm just not too clear on how not being able to prevent Eothas breaking the Wheel is particularly relevant to the branch of philosophy that examines the fundamental nature of reality, including the relationship between mind and matter, between substance and attribute, and between possibility and actuality.

You mean like effects from two or more pets creating collisions unforseen by developers? I would assume it should be safe since there is Berath's Blessign allowing Eder to have a pet as well.btw that Berath Blessing just gives Eder the statuseffect "unlockpetslot". You can give that statuseffect to any character via abilities or items

God Challenges Feedback!
house2fly replied to Aarik D's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Announcements & News
Idea for Abydon's challenge: Mythic enchantment (you can apply this to a maximum of four or five items ever) makes items immune to degradation. Wonder if this could be modded -
Luminous adra never really did get explained that I remember, but luminous adra near the Wheel as opposed to the sluggish/dead adra in the Dyrwood(I recall there did seem to be some instances of growth there) makes some intuitive sense as a connection. We need someone from the dev team to drop some hints about the true nature of luminous adra, and where some explanation might be found in the game itself. *performs alex scokel summoning ritual*

I was kind of surprised to find the archmages all being buddies when the first game had them hiding out in swamps and trying to kill each other. But I kind of like it as a parallel to the gods all being buddies too, even inviting Woedica along for chats. In times of great danger the powerful will flock to each other

I definitely like SSS the least (the arena runs at sub-10fps on my computer on lowest settings so I couldn't actually play the fights, which make up 90% of the damn thing) but I liked the story content overall. The Seeker mentioning that Od Nua's madness was basically responsible for the creation of the gods was a nice touch, and I loved Galawain getting mad and yelling at me. SSS and BOW both have good getting-yelled-at-by-a-god feel. I think Deadfire's structure lends itself better to DLCs like this than it would a big expansion like White March; I like being able to sail between smaller adventures. I wouldn't mind a DLC with no real overall story which added some quests and islands and maps to the world. And more unique warhammers. I think Forgotten Sanctum is probably the best of them- the dungeoning is crazy good- but I have a soft spot for Beast Of Winter, so I'm happy to call that my favourite. The main thing is, I want to play more stuff by the DLC team, so I hope they're onto another project soon to do some cool stuff.

[4.0.1]"News" is broken
house2fly replied to ~Wanderer~'s question in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Damn it Wanderer -
How do we know this? That seems like a big assumption for Obsidian to ask us all to accept blindly. it was discussed in the first game. The dwarf animancer you talk to as a ghost mentions that souls are always less than before when they're reborn, and Hiravias wonders if souls splitting apart and creating "soul twins" is because of the world's population going up

There are no new souls. The Engwithans usurped the entire natural function of reincarnation in service of their gods. With the machine which now controls that function broken, either the natural order cannot reassert itself, or will take so long to reassert itself that the world will be starved of essence by the time it happens.

Let's say a man eats a lot of sugar, and is diagnosed with diabetes at age 40. He has to take insulin. He lives in America, so he can't afford insulin. He falls into a coma and dies. Even though there was clearly a time before he needed insulin injections to survive, the fact remains that at the current time he needs insulin injections to survive.

Engwithan tombs
house2fly replied to hollerer's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Not really. There are no Engwithan tombs in either game, and no undead populating them
