  1. The main quest should be high-level, frankly. That'd push players to explore and interact with the factions to get more levels
  2. Per rest/per encounter is pretty much just a line of text, BMac used it as an example in the tutorial. Number of casts/abilities and hp per level are as well, not regenerating health I'm not sure about but possibly
  3. Non-unique trinkets backported into base game lootlists! A conversation with Eothas, somehow. I liked him getting a word in in Beast Of Winter
  4. There will be new pets, and it seems there will also be new things to do with pets
  5. There's a good mod called The Pantry which adds a ton of crafting ingredients to the fishmonger at Port Maje. Well worth an install.
  6. Is that the place where you get the ball and chain? I was nice to them and left, and I guess I realised I could probably get a weapon off them or something, because I reloaded and killed them
  7. Yeah, if their health runs out. Presumably you're healing them because the fight is more winnable with them in it, so if you heal them hopefully their health won't drop to 0 and you can win the fight and rest after. If a party member's health is as low as their endurance in a fight you're not far from resting anyway
  8. It's not unintuitive to let a party member go down because you may need them more in the next fight than this one, it's just a trade-off
  9. oh yeah, I definitely hope none of the new subclasses are companion ones, but it's the most likely way to go
  10. This makes sense, I've seen people complain that they can't be a shark druid or whatever. There's companion subclasses for priest, monk, cipher, druid, chanter, paladin... I think that's all of them?
  11. Can't use mods with challenges, unless they change that. It's easy enough to mod more spells per level though
  12. Why should healing always be a good thing?
  13. Is it my imagination or does Tayn actually look a little like Paul Rudd?
  14. The flesh of a sleeping god sounds insanely cool. I wonder if my idle theory that there was a 12th Engwithan god that was malformed in creation or a faulty prototype, and that's what the 12th slot in the god challenge UI is for, will have anything to it
  15. isn't it literally just an adaptation of a pre-written adventure module?
  16. A re-release would be a good idea once all the DLC is out. Time it to match the console release, discount the base game, $50 for game+all DLC, call it "Pillars Of Eternity: Deadfire: Crown Of Woedica Edition" or something (DO NOT CALL IT COMPLETE EDITION) and get some visibility on steam
  17. It's... just an innocuous phrase people say when talking casually with acquaintances or work colleagues. Someone says "what can I do you for" and you know they're in a jovial mood. It means nothing else
  18. This might be people just waiting for the bugs to be ironed out. I have bought the game, but I'm not playing it until much much later. Mainly due to bugs and DLC's Very possibly, but today's media environment is a constant deluge of content. People taking their eyes off your game is dangerous, because it's trivial for them to find something else to play.
  19. It seems to have real trouble retaining players- after nearly two months, less than 1% of players have finished the game, and only 55% have got the "founded a barony" achievement, which presumably you get early in the game. It's sold well but might be close to hitting its cap. Maybe this big patch will turn things around- player count has more than doubled since I last looked, so it's probably given them a boost.
  20. In one god conversation Berath uses the metaphor of a reservoir that empties because it doesn't rain any more, but that's a skippable dialogue option iirc
  21. They don't need an excuse, is the thing. Aloth is, what, in his 60s? Eder is a combat veteran. They both start the first game at level 1, and nobody cares. Sagani has been wandering the world for years, Hiravias is a nomad who lives off the land. Zahua was a tribal chieftain and briefly invincible! None are higher level than you when you meet them, nobody cares
  22. No, there's a movie called WarGames and "the only winning move is not to play" is a line from nesr the end
  23. Isn't "Eothas destroys the world" the only one that wouldn't be importable?
  24. People who aren't completionist probably don't care one way or another about hitting the level cap. Though if Obsidian does slow XP gain, the non-completionist people will have a more annoying time due to getting less levels. For that reason I think the best solution would be to cap power levels but raise XP levels to, say, 25. That would give multiclass characters enough levels to hit power level 9 by the time they hit the very last level, still keeping them behind single class characters but letting them advance all the way- assuming there are 25 levels' worth of experience in the game+DLCs. You need so much more XP per level that there may well not be! Maybe what I'll do is raise the level cap myself and take a character through everything to see how high a completionist can get
  25. Probably azata nui shells. Those are currency, so they don't appear in your inventory- the number of them you got is multiplied by their monetary worth and the total is added to your available funds. Say your funds were 100cp and you got 20 azata nui shells. They're each worth 5cp, so your funds after picking the shells up would be 200cp. Here's a page of the currencies used in the games; some of them are a bit esoteric! https://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Currency
