  1. If the text in the game files is any indication, every faction companion can stay with you and fight against their faction under the right circumstances. Not that I'm a fan of the romances in this game at all Really? I'll happily eat some crow then - is it just a disposition requirement? I wasn't able to convince Maia no matter what I did. I don't know, and it's possible it's cut content. But there's lines for, eg, the head of the Rauatai faction talking about Maia betraying them. It may depend on the faction- I can see Maia siding with you in the "go it alone" ending, but maybe not if you go with the Vailians or Huana
  2. I'm definitely hyped for it, the wait for this release seems longer than the first two- with BOW I didn't know what to expect and was apprehensive, with SSS a combat arena wasn't something I was particularly interested in. With this last one I know the DLC team does good stuff, and the content sounds cool. If you haven't already, head to Marihi's Metalworks in the artisan district. There's a new character who'll get you excited for the next DLC in another way
  3. Question about the megaboss: from looking in the game files I see there's a book with info about the boss. Is the book placed anywhere specific in the game? Or do they have a random chance of spawning on eg bookshelves?

  5. I'd enjoy some more short stories for sure. I really liked that twine thing about the dragon too
  6. That's only on Ironman, and iirc was the same in Pillars 1
  7. "The wielder merges with target Ally, granting them a huge bonus to both Power Level and Health, but removing the wielder from combat." I haven't looked at the associated status effects, but knowing Obsidian it's +1 power level and +10 health or something E: if you have the Necklace Of Unlocked Possibilities equipped when you use that summon copies ability on the cloak, each copy gets a random weapon, which isn't tactically useful but is a bit of fun
  8. Plus if someone complains Obsidian can presumably just remove any offending mod. I tried out Heironymous's character, and some extra info: If an imported hireling is lower than your level, you can import them at a higher "custom level". This starts them at their native level and then levels them up. Eg- Heironymous's character is level 16, I hired her at level 19, and she started at level 16 with 3 extra levels for me to choose. If you import a hireling with a custom level lower than their native level then they start from scratch like a normal hireling, but still keep all imported equipment
  9. It saves time coming up with a new character- I'm making a bunch of characters at inns and just exporting them so I can play as them at a later time and cut character creation time down. New players who see all the possible options and don't know what to make of them can just look through premade characters and pick one that seems cool
  10. On the character summary page there's a new tab along the top that says Export. There's a guide to importing and exporting pinned in the main technical support forum
  11. If you import at character creation they start at level 1 with normal starting equipment. For hiring, I think you can only import characters at your level or under, same as normal hiring, but I only have one character and they're level 20 so I can't really test that
  12. You don't need the most expensive ships to take out all the bounties, and apparently the only way you'll make enough money to make back the cost of the most expensive ship is to close to board every battle which gives better rewards, and you can just close to board in the starting ship
  13. You can't import anyone who's in party roster, so no copies. Also if you import someone and hire them at an inn they would be a party member so no TCS
  14. You can mod in a new grimoire pretty easily, and fill it with Cleve-appropriate spells. You can even create new spells! Be the change you wish to see, and all that
  15. I'm hoping for some lines that affect companion reputation, since this DLC is my last chance to get to romance-level with Aloth
  16. They're closed at night time, if you're trying to go there during the way and getting turned away it sounds like a bug
  17. Gog doesn't have a steam workshop equivalent as far as I know, but it'll probably be easy enough to throw characters up on the nexus, since they're exported to their own file. I'll give that a try when the patch is out of beta
  18. Do you import this character at level 19? What happens if you choose him when starting a game?start a new game and the character just levels as normal; I think the level you import at only matters for importing hirelings- you can choose to import a character at "native level" which I'm guessing means they join your party as-is with all ability and skill choices made by the person who created them Character portrait update: I deleted the custom portrait from my game folder, and deleted several other custom portraits too. I started a new game and selected the character I'd exported with a custom portrait, and his portrait was shown in the game. I progressed character creation to portrait selection, and none of the portraits I'd deleted were there but my exported character's was. So it looks like exporting your character DOES include the portrait
  19. Oh hey: take a close look at the picture for the other Berath's Blessing that gives you the "evil captain" passive. I got a chuckle from seeing the face on the wanted poster
  20. When you upload to Steam Workshop the custom portrait is shown as the steam thumbnail so maybe: I'm going to delete my custom portraits and see what happens when I start a new game and try to import this character
  21. You can preview ability trees for your party members' classes in-game or on the wiki, I don't know how else you'd go avout viewing ability icons
  22. I don't mind either way but I'd prefer it more open. You may be able to get around disabling mods by adding text directly to the relevant files rather than going through the override folder, though that'd be a hassle and would get overriden by any game updates
  23. Question: I see we're warned when exporting that characters can't have quest items equipped. Are there warnings when importing? Eg if a character has DLC items equipped are they unable to import, or are they imported without those items?
  24. You can just look at the character sheet, but it's tedious unless you know the specific name of the effect you're looking for. I think ideally the list of active effects on the character sheet would be sorted into positive/negative and collapsible
  25. I'm at level 9 now, and apart from the four or five tools available (crowbar, grappling hook, etc., the absolutely essential stuff you don't want to be without in a scripted encounter), I have not bought anything. There has been no need. Actually, come to think of it: I have bought one thing that gives +2 might. I'm not saying that you're wrong, but so far it seems to me that Deadfire is identical to PoE in the sense that there is almost nothing to be bought in the game. Like in PoE, I also have not used potions at all, except for the two occasions I tried potions of moderate healing. the unique weapons for sale are very expensive, as are the high-level upgrades. You spend more money on your ship crew and such (wages/food to keep morale high). There's not much you're forced to buy, but certainly there's more to spend money on than PoE1. I like to get and upgrade all the unique weapons, which in this game isn't easy to do
