  1. I'd like more levels, but I've played through two DLCs at max level already and didn't really miss the xp trickle. It's one of those things that wouldn't be difficult to implement unless they add more power levels, but just the superficial "23xp. You are now level 21!" stuff is literally just a matter of changing some numbers in the game files. E: by which I mean, of course, you can implement it yourself. There's a mod which does it, but it also beefs enemy stats. Of course, if you want more levels, you'll also want tougher enemies...
  2. Obsidian probably assumed most people play these games to experience the content. If they'd known it was all about numbers going up they could have saved themselves a lot of money and just had infinitely-respawning mobs on copy-paste maps with a level cap of 99
  3. In addition to a lot of abilities being reworked, there are multiclasses and subclasses now, all of which can make a difference in how the game is played. Plus obviously a whole swath of new unique items, with a new upgrade system where every unique item has multiple unique spells and effects to choose from, all to be used in a combat system that was basically remade from the ground up. Most of the ability icons on the character sheet looking the same isn't nearly telling the whole story.
  4. You don't have to accept Eothas's plan, and you can try to stop him
  5. Some of them are identical, some of them have been heavily revised due to the new mechanics, some of them do almost completely different things. There's also a lot of new spells and effects
  6. You don't hit level 20 with anything like 50% of the game left
  7. Looks like he has been badly misled by youtubers, because though spells/abilities are often "the same", or seem so, PoE 2 differs from 1 quite substantially (unlike in case of BG1/2, let alone their EE versions). If that the only beef he has with Deadfire, he can buy it, no worries. Anyway, I would prefer starting from level 1 even if it did not differ, because RPG systems invariantly work best at lower levels and only get worse the further one progresses, so I am happy with Deadfire not mimicking BG2. ^This. Plus PoE1 took us well beyond level 9 in comparison with BG1, so in effect PoE1 did what BG1 and 2 combined did from a levels standpoint. One additional thing that I feel is important to this discussion is that Obs specifically did NOT title PoE2 as "PoE2". That is how we're talking about the game in these forums, but there is no "2" in the title of the game. So the proper way to look at the game is that it is a completely new game relative to PoE1 and you really don't need to have played 1 to enjoy 2. lol yes there is
  8. Nothing specific, but they put out this image in a recent update: https://s3.amazonaws.com/obsidian-media/deadfire/news/update-57/deadfire-contenttimeline-10.25.18-500p.png The placing of the DLC logo suggests December as a likely release date
  9. Well, largely they're playtesting the P&P game they're working on
  10. In BMac's tutorial (https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/103384-tutorial-modding-basic-concepts/) he deletes everything he's not modifying So you should be able to do the same here. Give it a try! Worst that can happen is it doesn't work and you have to hit ctrl+z
  11. That perception won't have been helped by Deadfire also being a mess on release uh, what you might be looking for is pornography.
  12. The red X and arrow pointing mean that the thing on the right will cancel out the thing on the left
  13. Lol, though I agree that they should reuse everything they have rather than starting from scratch again. I wouldn't mind some performance improvements, but other than that Deadfire's graphics and gameplay systems are p much good to go. More chance of avoiding bugs with familiar tech as well
  14. There are variables in the game files for beating the megabosses, so they may be planning on having achievements for that down the line. It may be possible to mod in an achievement- the achievement data has conditions it looks for under AchievementStat, which are all set by the developer. Can you set an achievement to trigger when a value changes on a global variable like beating the spider queen, instead of on the achievementstats only? I kind of doubt it, but maybe
  15. It means that they'll be countered by status effects which affect that attribute. You have a Perception bonus and an Intellect bonus; if something gives you a Perception or Intellect debuff then the bonus will be removed. If you have an ice spell it'll be countered by fire, etc
  16. Well, "more voice acting" was a stretch goal; they upped it to full VO later in development. Anyway, I'm certainly not about to disagree the writing suffered in general
  17. as far as I know this bug was fixed, though my only full POE1 playthrough since the Deadfire Pack was solo so I'm not 100% sure
  18. I wouldn't mind seeing these posts that were removed due to legal threats; so far as I know nothing like that has happened
  19. Pallegina can be affected by your ending choice in a few ways, as it interacts with how she resolved her trade agreement. The gods may give you rewards or punishments depending on what you did and what you promised as well- Hylea covers your boat with bird **** or gives you a lovely cake, Berath gives you a debuff if you said you'd return souls to the Wheel and didn't. If you strengthened the souls of the Dyrwood, any characters with that culture get +5HP. There's a few more, all small but they're present
  20. It's certainly possible; you'd just need to add another soulbound level and conditions for it. It's on my list of mods I'd like to try doing (though a bit lower on the list since there's a chance Obsidian might do it themselves)
  21. You are sided with the Principi once you report back after getting the ghost ship. Never report back, never have to side with anyone!
  22. You're not really paying the uber driver, you're paying the uber corporation. It's common courtesy to be polite to the people you interact with, even if they're interacting with you in the process of a transaction- they're not at their job by choice and could use some pleasantness in their day
  23. I gotta say, if Tyranny outsells Deadfire then we can pretty much lay to rest any idea that quality drives sales. I liked Tyranny but it's a flawed gem, emphasis very much on the "flawed"
