  1. I dont know about wizards but because i have two parallel games before i try any fight with my triple crown run i makesure i can beat it in y non triple crown and as a result I know how to hadle most fights safely. Maerwald is quite an easy fight tbh. all you need is a speed buff and dodging hs spells is quite easy, if you can block the doorway and kill his fire elementals they explode and deal heavy damage to him, and besides which they are slow enough moving that its easy to seperate them from himand once he has blown through his spells he is a really weak oponent
  2. It isn tbh. I can quite easily live with 20 seconds of my speed chant/fortitude chant to get out two ogres then switch to my aoe Fire nuke. Its just tactical. TBH i wish other highlevel spells came with similar consequences, because it keeps the lower level spells more competitive. I think the problem is that most classes dont need to min max or make any real choice strategically, as a wiz or druid you unload you high level spells first and work down, as a chanter you have to make a choice about faster invocations with weak chants, or slower invocations with more powerful chants.IMO chanters realllly shine in longer fights
  3. I cant imagine how much grief that would cause, given ai pathing is as it is i would hate for half my party to die permanently because some ai kept walking over them, like its not as if i could crawl out the way or anything. I wasnt aware of the ranger pet being able to do this but this is one cheese i would avoid as i think it crosses the line from abusing in game mechanics into a flat out exploit
  4. ohhhhhh god too many to count lol. I'll edit mine later with where they actually died if I can remember mostly the temple and care nua I don't wanna jinx my current run but I hope I've burried my last hero
  5. Personally I like feeling like my choices are important and I like feeling clever, my monk build for example is made so that torments strike hits two rows of mobs in most fights (unless the mobs have very big hitboxes) and also has the might and con high enough to take full advantage of the moon godlike heals. I maxed dexterity so that when I'm hit hard I can unload my wounds without them going to waste and i synergised that with other attack speed boosts. I prioritised interrupt over concentration because my attacks are so fast and as a result I mitigate a decent amount of damage just interrupting the enemy. Sanguine plate together with my aoe stun means when someone hits me it hurts them much more than it hurts me. If you look at the solo expert/hard thread a few days ago there are plenty of people who enjoy theory crafter the perfect build
  6. 1) Tiello the monk-died of too many bears 2) Rhaegar the barbarian- died of Druid raw damage to the face 3) Cernai the chanter died on the bridge to the monk with infinite stuns 4) Kylar the rogue- died of too many bandits Sorry what exactly is this supposed to be ?
  7. And when I came back forge knights going wild, assasins everywhere is this part of the main quest or what XD? I think its the combined effect of my progres in the main story and in the crucible knights side quests but its pretty hard to move in defiance bay right now lol
  8. lol the figurine makes it 1000x easier though. right now i only use my figurines to open up fights, then i let my summons take over. That and my sanguine plate does more damage than i do, it depends if i let myself get hit or not
  9. Thats my spot get out of my spot! All you need for that room is 4 fire scrolls and the figurine and if you do everything but the temple and collect all the herbs you can get the money and ingredients
  10. I restared my game and it seems to be fixed for now. I feel guilty though because I killed a really hard group of mobs and they didnt even try to hit back, got sanguine armor for free. Im on trial of iron so reloading isnt really much of an option for me.
  11. well on my trial of iron im up to heritage hill, and ive cleared cliaban rilag. Im relatively confident going forwards as nothing ive encountered so far has been able to eat through my summon shield before i can replace it, my only problem is a lack of dps, but when i get the fire aura that should get much better because as it is ive put all my talents into being as tanky as possible, large shield, heaviest armor, shield and sword, cautious attack. as a result mostly i rely on wearing the enemy down, however I can use level three scrolls so if the need arises i can nuke people.
  12. I wouldnt put much stock in a wiz for trial of iron though, I mean i havnt played aroudn that much with a wiz but i think chanters are the best :D
  13. I don't think anyone is frowning on them, i do think there is a line between tactical use of ingame mecahnics (doorways etc) and abusing bugs. For example quiting midcombat and reloading for a trial of iron game is clearly exploiting a flaw in the saving process, blocking the doorway with unlimited summons while cheesy is clearly not breaking the game.
  14. i prefer to think of it as tactical, I mean i could never solo with my chanter without some tactical blocking
  15. This is no more cheesy than putting a full tank paladin in the doorway, If you want to see real cheese do the same thing with a chanter and their summons. three wurms can block not just doorways but entire corridors because you can replace them every 16 seconds you can pretty much just hang back and kill everything from range
  16. So i think my triple crown run be ruined by ai freezing. I mean its not stopping me playing but its turned what were two crazy challenging fights into hitting target dummies. Which while great for making thinks easy is not great for the perfect triple crown run. Has anyone else encountered this, i posted in the tech forum but no-one has yet replied.Im not going to start all over again with the exact same build so i guess ill wait till this is fixed but i was having fun so its pretty annoying. Im gonna play my non ironman non solo run till its fixed.
  17. So i was doing the bridge quest with the guy in sanguine armor, it was working fine on my practice (non trial of iron save) then when i loaded up the iron save i entered the fight, none of the enemy team moved. I completed the fight anyway thinking it was just a lucky occurrence that made a tough fight trivial, anyway I then went to ondras gift and found the same behavious by the thugs for that chest quest (the one with the captains hat). https://www.dropbox.com/s/987avdvvy9nb58k/04aeb3ef-4661-45ee-82c1-49dc39ab8937%20autosave.savegame?dl=0&s=sl Thats the save file, I couldnt find the output log but when I do ill link to that too.
  18. Wurms all the way, they have more combined HP than two wisps and higher defences and DR, their DPS is lackluster but you can use them to form a wall that blocks off pretyt much all inside areas. Wisps have a castable spell one use per wisp that charrms so i suppose you could pick wisps for the charms but its a very weak charm tbh, only lasts a couple of seconds most times. Only way i know to scale up the damage chant is with might but tbh is such a weak chant I only use it when i have nothing better to chant or when i need to squeeze out every last bit of damage.
  19. OK so it turns out the bug is not limited to the bridge, ill file a bug report and wait for a hotfix i guess..... no ****ing way im starting again now. This run was going so so so well....
  20. You should probably check out similar threads elsewhere as this topic has been done several times, I would highly recomend not doing 5 rangers and one chanter as you wont have any heals and once the pets die your dps will plummet. If anything I would go 5 chanters and 1 priest, priest for buffs and heals 5 chanters so you have a never ending supply of drakes, phantoms, wurms etc to throw at it. 1-3 phantoms should keep him stunned relatively well (havnt tried this myself yet) wurms can attack from a range and drakes are drakes lol
  21. Ok so i spent a while trying to figure out how to do it and with the right items its actually not that bad a fight. Problem is when i loaded up my trial of iron save for it the fight had bugged and none of them moved or attacked me.... what a waste of time I could have just autoattacked them to death anyway. Anyway for those reading who arent so lucky as to have the fight bug out for them the trick is jolting shock a level two scroll, i killed the tank guy in two hits using it. In my practice runs I opened with beetles, split pulled whoever followed after the beetles were dead, the mages you jsut wanns avoid their spells so run speed (i almost always chant speed tbh) I laid a trap behind me which helped, and save 4 jolting shocks for the guy in sanguine armor, kills him pretty much every them unless you have the worst luck. It as a little disappointing after planning the fight for so long for it to be made so easy by such a big bug XD.
  22. Ive figured out how to avoid the pull, you open with beetles and you should cast in time to block the pull, then you run away. im thinking im gonna try it with various scrolls
