Im starting to wonder if dumping my intel was the best idea, early game it didnt matter but now my frost traps are really quite small and dont last as long as they could, and given my 'technique' for most fights is running around in circles casting frost the extra size would really help imo, whats the range on the fire chant? does anyone know, as long as it hits people in a decent range it should but im a little worried now

My monk can get out that kind of damage on his torrents reach, but he has max might max dexterity

Not neccesarily, as chanter your damage is gimped already, Im not sure that dumping dex is worth it. As it is I often go into stalemate fights where they cant killmy summons but i cant kill them faster than they heal (currently practising for the sangune plate bridge fight and i have yet to scratch the guy wearing it, even with my summons up he just shrugs off the damage, his only low def stat is will and i can only mind contro him 3 times, even his own teamcant kill him I REALLY WANT THAT ARMOR I will post my run when Im done only at act two but im running a non trial of iron parallel, i find that the chanter, while being not very tanky and not very high DPS is the least luck reliant of any class ive played so far, mostly because your summons allow you to reliably mitigate damage, that and the frost trap/speed boost that allows you to kite pretty much anything makes almost any fight winnable. Having said that ive had a couple of close calls where i got burst down and my phantom had to finish the fight for me and was on my knees praying for good rolls XD I'd like to try a chanter solo in path of the damned and share the experience, one question, does chanter chant more fast if they have high dex? They dont and as chanter its much easier to survive as you have a slow, a speed boost and infinite summons. The no. 1 problem i have encountered is actually that your DPS sucks. Both level two summons are pretty lackluster, only marginally better than the phanom, some fights have gone on for ever simply due to my non-existent damage, Im thinking im gonna need to stack scrolls until i get the fire aoe chant level three but thats 4 levels off.... Im almost tempted to start again and spec up more DPS talents. Or if im going to get all my DPS from scrolls anyway I might as well roll a fighter, high DR and just tank everything, at least then my base stats would be better. I was coninced chanters would be THE class to solo but now im thinking they just lack the damage in some situations. My build is: 18 Might 13 Con 11 Dex 18 per 3 int 19 Res I can prety much always survive until my firstsummon is up, especially if i use a figurine, and from there its a its basically a matter of grinding them down, only really tough fights kill my phantom in less than 12 seconds, but it rarely survives for 24 seconds so pretty much 99% of my invocations are refreshing the summon. I really really need more DPS

That's not really Trial of Iron. In Trial of Iron you either win a fight or lose it (and your game ends), you don't quickly quit the game and then load your game again. Defeats the purpose of Trial of Iron completely. No i don't?? are you confusing me with OP? Im currently on my third ToI run and I havnt save scummed once, even for really annoying things like not getting the frost cloak and accidentally killing the quest giver near the broken bridge. If you had read this thread at all you would see that I completely agree with you, it isnt really trial of iron if you save and reload

the fight on the bridge is pretty insane... how on earth can i beat them Without reload? I would not know. Tougher fights take me usually couple of tires before I figure it out. Another role .. figuring it out. i can reliably pull two on their own but not the rest, the rest all agro together That ****ing monk gets unlimited punch stuns what a bloody cheat. Certainly makes me feel less bad about abusing doorways when i come across fights like this... im thinking this is impossible for my chanter atm.... the sanguine plate guy even when i get him on his own outheals everything i throw at him, even with my wurms all up they hit him for about 5 dmg and he heals it by the time they fire again

Go to the docks, get the quest from the merchant to give the seeds to the guy in Copperlane. Finish that quest however you like, and this gives access to Pellegina. Once that's done, you can go to the embassy in First Fires and the ambassador will talk to you, he gives the quest that results in the fight that drops the Sanguine Plate. If there a way to get it without pellegina joining my party, going for the triple crown Go to the docks, get the quest from the merchant to give the seeds to the guy in Copperlane. Its possible to stealth past everything, namely entrance room, in Caed Nua with Stealth 5 (lvl 4 Stealth 5 Mech 3 - to open door to boss) but the statute, the servant, will trigger the fight anyway- will not let character to descend without fight and that is pretty much the only risky fight at this stage. The boss is risky too but its not really fight, or does not have to be. I guess thats one way to play but I can reliably kill clear caed nua without a single point in stealth and imo the points are better spent in lore and mechanics, i mean fan of flames is great but have you seent he level 4 and five scrolls? They are pretty beastly. Nope I have not, I play to level 6 than restart Unless those scrolls are needed early there should be time to level up Lore or? By level 6 I am on 5 Stealth 5 Mech and 3 Lore with Wizard. Its more that the scrolls make hard fights easy and Im not one for running away from a fight. Well, to me its about efficiency. If I can avoid fights where I need high Lore (and money for scrolls plus sacrificing Stealth or other skill) I will avoid it. In similar fashion the Temple or way to the keep. Too much of a bother (time and energy) and too much of a risk. It can be done in maybe 15 mins using Stealth having to fight only in the entrance room. But sure, whatever rows your boat. I was just curious whether or not the mentioned high level scrolls are essential early. Because if they are I might revaluate my progression table. I guess im just thinking ahead, moonwell and wall of fire sound like they will help a huge amount with boss fights, that and paralyse, confusion etc. Im also too much of a loot hoarder to not try to kill everyone I can

not really that OP tbh, its one use per rest and in touger fights it will will give you an edge but it certainly wont win every fight for you. I only really use it to open fights n my solo PoTD run and soak up damage until my chanter can get more powerful summons out. I would say that it is among the most useful items in the game but that it doesnt do anythin that in unbalanced. Sanguine plate for example is an item I would put a roughly equal value on.

Are you the one with the zipping-around monk build? No, but I can see how it could be very effective in several encounters where you don't have the liberty of bottlenecking enemies. Casting a summon to distract people before running away and waiting for a moment where you can lure them in smaller groups is a really potent strategy until you get a retaliate item. Sanguine Plate (or the shield, alternatively) and Ravenwing trivializes most of the game's content. where do you get it?

ahhhhhhh ok makes sense. bit of a shame though given my high deflection low health. I really wish they had bothered to label everything correctly before they released it. How hard is it to say what a spell does after you have made the spell. I mean they programed the item why not say what it does lol

One of my fav things about my chanter is that my phantom often stunlocks their phantom XD, I dont have that great dps but its relatively easy to put a shield of summons between me and the enemy, I really regret getting frost as my firstlevel two chant though, could have really used the ranged speed one. Ohwell live and learn i guess, maybe the frost trap one will be more useful in different situations
