Playing with a full party on hard is actually what i would call normal difficulty. If you want a real challenge restrict yourself to a smaller party, thins become much more tactical when you dont have dedicated healers, dpsers and tanks Should he also cover his eyes and get drunk to further the difficulty? Artificially restricting oneself isn't a part of game difficulty. If smaller party should be a part of higher difficulty, then the number of comapnions in a party should be restricted by the game. Sadly PoE doesn't provide anything in a tactic department other than: - have a tank up front - assure higher damage than enemy can heal - assure higher healing than enemy can damage Want real tactical combat play XCOM games. I wasnt saying that he should just keep handicapping himself i was just saying that tactical play comes into effect much more when you have a smaller party, as in you have to optmise you gear etc. I also agree the game could use more mechanics to the boss fights. If you want a more tactics based game sadly this is not a shining example but I was just saying there are things you can do to make it less easy, especially in solo play you really have to plan out most of your fights, things like traps, scrolls and figurines become non-optional

Whatchu talkin' about? Monks are sword-and-shield fighters. Monks can fight with their fists, but unarmed falls behind pretty rapidly, and even if you want to dual-wield, it's generally better to use weapons. they dont drop off until you have pretty high level weapons. Especially with the accuracy, makes you hit for more in PoTD especially with all the high deflection values

Is it after patch? Before patch they were valued at ~600 (horn) to ~1500 (figurines). If yes - damn, that's a difference. Still, you can find at least two figurines (scarab and spiders) quite early in the game. Yea the main issue i was having (over in the solo expert whatever thread) is that in PoTD solo some fights are just impossible without a summon because you get swarmed and stun locked, before the patch you could just about do it by finding a wall and summoning a figurine. IT was annoying as hell because the only reason the fights are impossible is because phantoms stun lock you for your entire hp (i had a cloak that healed my damage back to me) so it went from full hp to 0 over like 3-5 minutes, and because phantoms stun on autoattack multiple phantoms were entirely impossible to deal ith regardless of how good your build was. The figurine was so needed that I resorted to banditry until i could afford it

the way i see it this build is awesome in some situations but could be terrible in others, for example fights where there are heavy hitters about. (having nt played around it this is only a prediction thoug, im also thinking in terms of a triple crown attempt, im sure in games where you have priests etc to heal you it would be much better

So we can all agree that fighters are probably the best tanks in the game, what they lack is any real damage. One thing i have found is that once you get access to vendors scrolls become quite common place. It's not something I have seen brought up before probably because its very mix max heavy but there is nothing to stop you building a tank machine with high lore, by the watcher i had 4 fan of flames on my monk solo PoTD run and those made the fight vs the phantoms possible. I mean to be honest it skews the game against spell casters even more as its possible to play an unkillable scroll basedwarrir wizard but try rolling a wizard and watch yourself die in two hits. Thoughts? (this is mainly aimed at high difficulty solos where you are min maxing)

Exactly, what makes chanters so good is that their summon dps and health etc it totally independent of of their stats or what they are doing, i mean you can have 3 tank summoners and three ranged summoners, really doesnt matter, i mean i would argue that summons are so strong getting anythin other than phantom as an invocation is a waste of point unless you already have a summon active

true, only worth it if you have a good high hitting one hander.
