  1. This is similar to what i have managed, the problem being that even when i get the sanguine plate guy totally alone I cant dps him enough to actually kill him. I might try with frost traps running in circles, he is by far the most annoying fight ive had so far because I was trying to kill him for a solid 5 minutes before I realised I couldnt out dps his heal. Also just to add i am really relucant to try this on my triple crown save because half the time they pull me in and i die in seconds. Also their monk seems to have an unlimited supple of stun punches. f*** the monk too, like im tempted to post a bug report because he literally casts stun punch on a loop, that cant be working as intended
  2. Come back when you have the figurine=100x easier. Ive managed to block off that area of the map with dragons by takin the bounty quests, i read that the chief one was relatively easy, whoever said that was having a laugh lol, f***ing dragons lol. I need some way to level up, i dont think i can solo heritage hill, too many swarms of enemies and im not sure i can split pull them, at least on my practice save I havnt been able to do so reliably
  3. also I can confirm that both monk and chanter make good solo classes. The difference being that a monk can out DPS a chanter but a chanter is more reliable: once you get themhidden behind thier summons you are pretty safe to wear down most enemies
  4. Can you please tell me what do you mean by "ironman"? Yup, Cipher is my favourite class, but I got bored of him after two playthroughs. However Puppet Master and AOE Domination/Charm spell can't be expressed enough. Mind Binding, Mind Blades, Mind Lance and few other powers are too good to pass. Druid would be much better if his spirit forms were stronger. However, thanks to modders there is mod already that boost spiritforms to be usable in solo Hard/PotD so I think I will reroll Druid again, since now I can abuse Bear form heal and Damage reduction (16 with mod, instead of 10). Once again modders do what devs didn't balance yet . Iromman is trial of iron, trial of iron is inspired by the ironman mode in other paradox games where you dont get to reload saves and only get one life. In EU4 for example all achievements require ironman mode to be turned on and most of the middle-difficult achievements won't be achieved unless the player is specifically aiming for that achievement on that game.
  5. It isnt just damage, he has a pretty decent heal, by dumping might you ensure he heals for very little. Aside from roleplaying there is eally no reason to max int. I get not everyone min maxed but Im not sure the point of maxing something that gives you nothing. Especially above another 8 in con, -4dex +4might would have given him more health to tank with and more healing to heal if he ever does get low. Combine high might and con with moonlike, heals and you effectively double the Hp he has available. I guess int isnt a total waste of points but you would be much better spending them on might.
  6. Who else do you have in your party? One level 12 paladin and 5 level 1 wizards?Nope, I run with Eder, Durance, Kana, Aloth, and Grieving Mother. We're all level 7 right now. Playing on Hard too before anyone asks. How did you build your pally? full damage? There is no way that he should be out dpsing grieving mother even if she is terribly specced
  7. Triple crown progress today, after a looooooong dungeon crawl I killed the Adra Animat. Trick here is that as long as you keep your wurms between you and whatever you are fighting you can survive any fight. Things to watch for- Traps- they one shot you The spore things are annoying as hell, one trick i found is if you have a charm spell if you charm one of them then it will attack the other, then the other will be charmed and will attack the one that just attacked it and so on and so on. The timing for this is all luck but I got a good 20 seconds of them attacking each other and I could focus them down. This dungeon has nice narrow corridors so blocking the way with wurms is relatively easy. The Adra animat will try to targer you so keep speed boost up and if he so much as looks your way run away and he will retarget your wurms. That guy hits like a truck so you do not want to let him reach you: The other important thing to note here is to always know if the mobs you are fighting have health regen or not. Trolls you need to be mroe aggressive with but anything without health regen can be ground down over time. Wurms hit for very little damage but i would rather reliably take down mobs that cross my fingers for good rolls.
  8. Hotkeyed refers to binding an action to a specific key on the keyboard, IE on my chanter all my summons are bound to Q,W,R,T making it much easier to cast quickly. The point here is that there is no option to keybind switch weapons but it is possible to bind specific spells.
  9. The secret to stronghold is to pretty much ignore it, rush for the shops if you can but other than that all it really serves as is a drain for money, EG the building that gives you herbs costs like 3000k and you are gonna get like 5-10 herbs out of it, you could buy that elsewhere for a fraction of the cost. In my first run i tried to plan out my stronghold but now i just click random upgrades when the last one finishes and pay basically no attention to it otherwise, not even when it is going to get attacked i just let it autoresolve. Its not worth your time or effort unless you are roleplaying and like having your own castle
  10. It was founded by an elven noble but it was open to all races. From a gameplay perspective shieldbearers are probably the worst paladin oreder, id you wanna play a good character the kind wayfarers are much better As for configuration I would REALLY not recommend dumping might AND dex, dump dex if you must but might is really good for your heal and is the only way you are even gonna scratch people you fight and again just to emphasise you get pretty much NOTHING from maxing int, other than a slightly larger aura i guess
  11. This, ive tried it at level two for the challenge but it is much better to to it level 3
  12. you are supposed to move out of the way lol (unless you are thinking about a different spell to me)
  13. Please form an orderly line to die, the chanter will be with you shortly, Slow and steady wins the race
  14. Can you hot key weapon swaps? I wasn't able to figure it out. They are already hotkeyed , on your characters action bar you can always switch between weapon sets just click on the weapon in action bar and other sets will pop up , thats the only proper way to play ranger use the damage boosts you get from class skills to deliver biggest damage possible with guns Since you mentioned it, i dont know how it is with you, but when i click on the action bar it switches between first weapon set and second, AND bare hands (a bug maybe?) - this is on every character and no they dont have a third weapon set unlocked. its not a bug, and tsreally great on a monk, i really dont see why monks get a free weapon set though lol, if you look at the tooltip when you click it it cycles through I, II, and III so im pretty sure the change was deliberate
  15. might, perception, intelligence and resolve are the most checked dialogue stats. might is mostly for an agressive blunt dialogue option. perception lets you see details intelligence lets you be smart and resolve lets you be determined. that is more or less the options. since i don't really care about an agressive blunt dialogue, might isn't that important for a dialogue option for me. perception intelligence and resolve maxed is perfect for a paladin tank. if you don't need to dish out damage you don't need might and dexterity. low might also dumps your healing ability, but that should be done by another party member anyway. so i would recommend might min con rest dex min per max int max resolve max and now i will also create such a character decent enough build but by droping might you pretty much guarantee your paladin will never do any damage, i mean they already have a terrible accuracy, and thier heal is actually pretty good, especially early game. I get that this character is meant for RPing and that is why intel is maxed but pallys really get nothing from such a high int and by dumping might and dex you essentially reduce your paladin to nothing more than a rock you use to block ai pathing.
  16. Can you hot key weapon swaps? I wasn't able to figure it out. No you cant hotkey weapon swaps as far as I can tell, ive checked the controls and it isnt there and you cant hotkey it the same way you hotkey abilities (hover over and press the key you want to bind it to)
  17. You said the guy above and you had already replied to OP, its not unreasonable that I thought you were talking to me. Also soloing the bear is not necessary to rush level three, you can hit level three just by doing the grain quest, the grain quest and rescuing the cook along with loot etc should give you enough money to buy 5 level 2 companions, all Im saying is that you dont have to rush and get your companions the second you get into town, and you save yourself 5000 EXP if you just wait a little bit, and having a full party of level 3/2 makes the early game content much easier than a full party of 2/1
  18. Ive taken the bear down level two with a moonlike monk and a decent amount of luck, i even posted screenies of it in another thread so maybe you shouldn't jump to calling me names? I also disagree with you that its best to rush and get a full party, its better to get level three (easily done) THEN buy your custom companions, 1000 exp from level 1 to level 2, per character thats 5000 exp, IMO an extra 1250 gold is easily worth 5000 exp. And you can solo the bear with a priest later on you just cant do it at level two. especially if you save up for the figurine. So dont act as if you are the only person who knows what he is talking about. lol with a priest no. its possible to clear everything but the bear with several classes, monk, ranger, chanter, barbarian, probably cipher. Its also juuuuuust about possible to clear the bear cave with a monk if you get really lucky. but to do so with a priest is uttely impossible i mean look at you level one spells lol. PS note that it becomes substantially easier to clear the bear cave once you hit 3/4. TBH i think you are playing PoTD wrong if you thought it was possible to solo the bear level two. PoTD becomes pretty tactical and part of that is realising when a monster is too hard for you, if it was possible to solo 3 bears, one of which hits like a truck then PoTD would be far too easy. Hmm....but shouldn't every class have different tools at their disposal to handle different situations and be equally effective in the game? So how come only some classes can do it and while others can't? So what you are saying is that, priests are generally weak on their own compared to these other classes? May be I should change my class then..... Every different class shines in different situations, a priest shines with their heals and their buffs, these are most useful when you have a larger party. If you want a class that can deal with more by itself you should try a druid, they have heals but they also have a fair amount of damage output, summons and some limited CC
  19. I would argue that there is no 'essential' class or build aside from the fact that you need three things. You need damage absorbion/mitigation, you need healing/buffs, and you need DPS. Where you get those things from is up to you and there are obvious choices and less obvious choices. For example in my non triple crown run I am running 5 chanters and 1 druid and that build absolutely destroys 99% of fights, simply because 5 phantoms stunlock 99% of mobs and not many mobs can burst through 250 HP in less than the 12 seonds it takes to resummon. similarly 3 rangers a druid a priest and a chanter actually works quite well provided you heal up your front row of bears/stags well enough. Again 3 tanking druids and 3 ciphers works well too, as you can pop spirit form for tankyness and you have heals and you have enough aoe to nuke the hell out of most fights and enough DPS to focus any big bosses. TBH you can make most full parties work as long as you have a front line capable of tanking and enough dps to out damage any enemy heals (looking at you forest trolls). So yea i would say just play around with eah class for fun and be imaginative, you can get some pretty funny results, party optimisation is only needed when you start restricing how big your party is, yea when you only have 3 people you need to min max but with 6 in the party... i mean this is without even starting to talk about scroll and figurine use. Also id just like to add that it really pays to look at enemy resistances, if they have 12 DR crush but 4 DR for fire you really want to bring some fire damage to the party
  20. lol with a priest no. its possible to clear everything but the bear with several classes, monk, ranger, chanter, barbarian, probably cipher. 21. Thank you so much! And yes exactly! Currently the early part of the game is a real pain, especially Caed Nua with the main room filled with Phantoms (I honestly think they should rework it by the way). After that, all the part where you can farm XP thanks to small quests in he Bay is actually quite easy. Still the last chapter is a challenge, and the last boss is honestly super hard. I probably reload more than 200 times (normal + PotD mode) to finally find some small rifts in the IA and to kill it. And I have no idea how you could do it with something else than a Rogue for now. It's quite doable with most classes if it's not ironman I think, Rogue might be the best class to minimize the risk for ironman though. For instance, with wizard you can just cast your level 6 petrify spell (which you use in form of trap) directly and if it lands you basically win. Problem is if it doesn't land. But if it's not ironman you have the magic load button . Or maybe you can buff your accuracy to be high enough for a guaranteed graze at least (graze would still be like 10-15 sec). Didn't do the math. I mildly disagree with this , i think chanters are more predictable in fights. Maybe rogues have a slight edge because they have a failsafe button if things go south but In my chanter triple crown run I've very rarely been in any real peril simple because when I get to about 1/4 HP i can run away and hide behind my summons, especially with my wurms I can make a out of them and run around it. My only real problem is that I lack the DPS to do some fights but I think the infinite pool of HP is worth it. Especially with my stupidly high defenses I feel quite safe with my chanter which is good because i really don't want a run ive invested so much time into to end because of a stray critical hit, in fact with my defenses as high as they are Im not eve sure when the last time I got hit with a crit was lol
  22. Its worth noting that the AI mobs sometimes seem to have an unlimited supply of casts, I once fought a monk who spammed stuning blow as fast as he was autoattacking (which as a monk was fast) I had to avoid the fight altogether because I saw no way in hell I could fight a monk with permastun and a barbarian who outhealed anything I threw at him
  23. Also on the topic of strategy Im not sure if this counts as a bug or an exploit or what but for whatever reason mobs totally ignore my wurms while i am alive, this enables me t make a wall of wurms, and run in circles around them droping frost traps as I go. I mean i would honestly they rather engage the wurms so im not above taking advantage of the situation, its a bit micro heavy but it works in pretty much all fights. (obviously it doesnt work against ranged opponents, but against ranged Its better to get up close with a phantom anyway as they usually have long reload times and so your phantom can stun lock them) In the fight above I pulled them all as far west as I could into a nice little corner and used my obsidian figurine to open up, then when the shades had died I used my wurms and frost chant and ran in circles around the boss guy, wurms have pretty mediocre DPS but they are better than phantoms for positioning. (the guy in the picture reset but his wolf was attacking me, every time i killed his wolf it came back to life lol, but as soon as i got my phantom it was game over i dont think he fired a single arrow after lol). This is also the furthest ive goten so far on my three crowns attempts so ive gotta be extra careful. Below is the troll fight, i probably could have just as easily stun locked wit a phantom but i wanted to show this wurm trick in action, most of the traps missed the damage but hit for the slow, he killed three of my wurms but it took him several circles before he grew impatient and engaged my wurms and not me.
  24. I can kite him and he ignores my wurms, the real issue is as I said he flat out outheals anything I hit him for, gonna come back when I have a much higher dps
