Movies you've seen recently
I'm not sure if the Dark Aster was a regular Kree battleship rather than some kind of unprecedented mega cruiser or such. That's the way I rationalised it, anyway.

Movies you've seen recently
Guardians of the Galaxy. It had flaws (I won't subscribe to the best movie of the year claim made before) but my inner 12-year old said he wanted this movie when he was still in charge, because it's the most fun I've had with a movie in years.

The Legend of Korra
What does that have to do with Legend of Korra, Leferd? This isn't even the first Korra thread we've had - it's a magnificently well animated series that is certainly more mature than any other mainstream animated fare out there right now - the only real flaw it has is that the season finales never really reach the expectations set by the rest of the season. To clarify for anyone who may be concerned, Korra is now legally watchable on Nick.com and these are legitimate links.

BETA LIVESTREAM INFO/COMPILATION: Bro, do you even Livestream?
Personally, I'm not sure this specific game that was labeled as a game for people who love reading will lend itself all that well to streaming. I might give it a try, though. People really need to get over that quote. Get over it implies that I was being negative - but I like that about it. It's one of the reasons I liked the IE games. At the same time, I've yet to see a stream or LP of the IE games that I personally found entertaining. Some games are interesting to watch other people play, some are only fun if you play them yourself. I'm sure the tactical aspect, the combat and such, will be fun but I'm not sure about the famous Obsidian style enormous dialogue trees.

Dragon Age: Inquisition
Continued from here: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/66394-dragon-age-inquisition/page-29 The last topic of discussion was which Planescape Torment character would give the hottest strip show, which wasn't very on topic so instead, discuss the upcoming Dragon Age sequel here.

The state of Feminism, the good the bad
EQUALITY NOW! EQUALITY NOW! Seriously, though: I don't mind gender roles personally. But I do mind it if people get treated like crap or are told they can't do something they want to do for no other reason than the pair of genitals they were born with. I feel the same way about men, by the way. For example, I think it's shameful how easily women can keep perfectly good fathers away from their children after divorce because men simply do not have the same rights in that case. As far as I'm concerned, taking on a gender role should be a choice, not a requirement. I would never dislike a girl simply because she doesn't want to have children, but I would also not dislike a guy who wants to be a homemaker. What I want when I think about gender equality is that people can make choices without society making it harder for them just because the choice doesn't conform to that gender role.

The state of Feminism, the good the bad
Actually the semantics started on page one. But yeah, I always hesistate before calling myself a feminist. I prefer to say that I am pro gender equality. Most people see "feminist" and read "feminazi" or "white knight".

Robin Williams
I find his last lead role in a movie fits as a pretty good eulogy - The Angriest Man In Brooklyn. Wasn't an amazing movie but it became kinda poignant since I watched it the day he died.

Immersion is extremely meaningful... for games meant to create emotional responses through gameplay. (i.e. a horror game like Amnesia). This game creates emotional responses through dialogue and the rest is eye candy and tactical. Claiming something in this game breaks your immersion is like complaining something in a book breaks your immersion.

Everything you said is true, but I feel you are underestimating those chemical reactions. They can easily overpower most people's rational mind even when they're not depressed. It's why people cannot resist that extra piece of cake because it will ruin their diet, or why people put off getting their work done in advance and watch TV instead. These are normal chemical reactions that people often get beaten by, often aided by those chemical reactions misusing the rational mind ("it's okay if I put off work right now, I've got plenty of time left" type rationalisations). A lot of normal, functioning people have problems dealing with this and that's usually just a bit of dopamine wrongly applied because our brain chemistry still thinks we're in the stone age and keeps pushing you to stuff your face with sugary crap because we didn't always know where our next meal would be coming from. Now imagine how badly this may affect someone who already has a massive chemical imbalance? There's a reason that I focused on the faulty logic in my thought patterns at the height of my depression - it wasn't just a feeling that I was bad for everyone, I rationalised it to overpower real logic. I had a million reasons as to why everything was my fault, how I had nothing and would never have anything to offer to anyone, and how people's lives would improve if I wasn't there. They were all not true, but in the state I was in I wholeheartedly believed them. Rationality is not immune to the effects, and negative thoughts would often masquerade as being rational. It's why most depression patients require cognitive therapy to get better - therapy specifically focused on removing negative rationalisations as they happen and replacing them with more positive truths. The rational mind is very affected by that chemical imbalance - rationality and emotion may often be at odds but they both still stem from the brain and you can't fix a broken tool with itself.

Interesting (to me anyway)
Yeah. I remember the StarCraft II beta had a huge amount of placeholder icons and voices and such being reused from the original StarCraft, so I assume this is the same thing.

I assume those icons are going to be changed, then.

What you did today
Happy birthdays Malc and Sarex. Here's something slightly bizarre from my day. Found out my inlaws' cat died yesterday morning. His name was Mork, named after the Robin Williams character.
