  1. I'd do the farm boy. Hop on my magical broom and I'll show you a whole new world beyond Mystical Vale or whateverthe****.
  2. *Backhand slap* Don't even joke about something like that! *Grabs archangel's lapels and pulls him face to face* I came here to escape them and their BSN! I won't go back I tells ya, and I won't let them turn this into another BSN! I'll blow us all up I will! I swear it! *Suddenly the ground starts to rumble, and off in the distance can be heard chanting. You can make out some of it as "Tali! Tali! Tali!" from the Talimancer contingent, but you can hear other chants too, equally blood curdling chants* Oh god, it's too late, they heard you! *Pulls out detonator* I had prayed this day would never come... *Someone suddenly bursts in* Bioware Fan: "Can I romance Durance????!!!!!" *Flintlock Jazz pushes the button* Narrator: "In one of the countless billions of galaxies in the universe, lies a medium-sized star, and one of its satellites, a green and insignificant planet, is now dead." Ugh. This is so inaccurate and offensive. No one from the BSN would want to romance Durance.
  3. The game has been kinda 'meh' for me too. To me it's bland, it has no stand out characteristics. If the goal was to create a game that is exceptionally IE like then it succeeded with flying colours. If the primary goal was to create a great game? Eh. In my eyes that failed. So far I've not liked D:OS, haven't given Wasteland 2 much time and POE was a disappointment. I'm really hoping TTON is the ****.
  4. So what is the OP complaining about and what are the counterarguments?
  5. Surely you jest OP? The game's reception has been almost unanimously positive, including on this forum. Dissenting opinions will always be present but they're pretty low overall.
  6. Generally I find I can tell the tone of the options anyway. Although passionate should probably be renamed 'histrionic' and rational to 'robotic' and clever to 'snarky SOB.'
  7. In act 3 now and so far the game, for me, has been... tepid. The writing has a 'tell don't show' quality to it that I'm not terribly fond of, I sometimes find me eyes glazing over and I have to go back and scan what I just read because it's just so... bland? Flat? I don't think one kind of writing can be objectively better than another but this is just not doing it for me. I have absolutely no idea why the stronghold exists it just seems like massive waste of time for what you get out of it. The combat has been a mix of really boring (hordes of meaningless mooks) and a ****ing nightmare of micromanagement when it comes to boss fights where I usually get creamed anyway, this is on easy/normal btw. Seriously do the companions have no combat AI at all? Quests have been okay but nothing (as of yet) that made me sit up and take notice. Choices? What choices? What consequences? The ones I've made so far have been either functionally equivalent or largely meaningless. Also the lore/tone isn't always consistent and that vexes me. BUT. My biggest complaint would have to be that the game is totally failing at making me feel connected to the story. I don't care about my PC, I don't care about the characters, I don't care about the world and I don't care about the big bad. I salivated when I read about the backgrounds and the culture and the multiple races but they don't seem to matter much at all. The companions are bland and almost uniformly forgettable (except for Durance but he literally feels like someone went 'oh my GOD I am SO OVER political correctness I am going to write the most offensive character ever conceived!' which isn't meant to discard him mind you, I actually think he's one of the more nuanced companions but still) and I think that plays a major part in my disconnectedness. No one seems to make much of an attempt to get to know you better. Or share what they think about this all except for voicing their very specific and static biases. They're just there. Like the PC. S/he's just there. You can pick all these nice background options for him or her but they don't really matter because you have no chance to really express them, you don't get the opportunity to express the why's of your actions or thoughts or how they tie into who you were or are or are hoping to be. You're just a lengthy biography of done deeds. All that being said I'll finish this run (probably) and start another one or two so it must be doing something right.
  8. Preach. My mind boggles at the idea of being able to kill a high ranking member of a society that hums with antipathy towards outsiders with absolutely no ramifications. At least the other one wasn't actually IN the city.
  9. I kinda wanna do all of them. But! Fighting a dragon does not appeal much, are there ways around it? If there aren't any does anyone have any useful tips? Beraht's is another potential issue. More because I think it would be REALLY WEIRD if I just kill the entire sacrificial druid sect and not everyone in Twin Elm's turns hostile. Because it seems like they should. I don't know if they actually do. Is there any way around that? Like a sneaky way of killing him? Or maybe getting him to sacrifice himself?
  10. It wouldn't be consistent with the lore though, would it? Undead exist because bodies die and the souls are tied to the shells, ciphers use souls to fuel their magic. Now if there was some way to turn hollowborn into weapons...
  11. My cipher is badass. I also kiiiiiinda wanna try a rogue. With a pistol. But guns are really slow so I'm not sure how enjoyable it would be, a blunderbuss works well with my cipher and all but that's only because it refuels focus so well. Plus ciphers get a few unique dialogue options which is nice.
  12. There should be a certain point where people should stop and examine why they feel such levels of of loathe and spite towards a developer of recreational media and whether it's really warranted. Because I swear based on some of the reactions I've seen, if I used my Watcher powers to peer at some of ya'lls souls I'd probably see a ambulatory Bioware logo kicking a door down, snatching a baby from a crib and eating it in front of its parents. I think it's a sweet thing to do, no more and no less.
  13. The game kinda seems like a weird advertisement with all of them and those memorials. BUT! They're pretty easy to ignore, they don't intrude at all.
  14. These working for everyone? Trying to set my Intellect to 20 with my Orlan philosopher since I really want to play an Orlan philosopher but I'm also really lusting after the 20 intellect of my deathlike artist. But it doesn't work and I don't think I'm putting it in wrong since I don't get one of those 'no command or script' things but the stats don't increase either. EDIT: iroll20s to enable the console and AttributeScore Devran Intellect 20 should work yeah? EDIT II: Works fine if you do it reeeaaaallllyyyy early.
  15. Hold on to your ****, subjective opinions stated as fact incoming.
  16. Pray for me bitches, getting the game in a giveaway is basically the only way I'm getting it.
  17. The reviews are already excellent, asking people to vote before they've (probably) had time to form a cohesive opinion is doing it a disservice.
  18. Why? I'm not getting the point of the guilt-tripping going on here. The OP asked a question all it warranted was an answer. Not everyone has the same investment in this game or even the same general levels of patience and considering Obsidian's track-record when it comes to bugs I can definitely understand throwing up your hands if in the first few hours you run into some game wrecking ones. That is not entitled. Short fused? Sure but not entitled. To the OP: a quick google search gave me the impression that Steam basically never gives refunds. Ironically if you still want some value for your money you'll probably have to shelf the game and wait for your issues to get patched. Be sure to file some bug reports to help speed the process.
