I think some of this stems from the fact that we were one of the first countries (modern) to put democracy into use and actually make it work. Granted the idea of it already existed, but at the time we were among the first to actually do it. I don't see any problem with displaying a flag, whether it be on your car, in a window, in your yard, etc. Granted, I think it's overboard when people coat their entire yards or cars in flags, and ignorant when they spout patriotism just for the sake of it. On the other hand, what makes me sick is the way some people resort to America-bashing anytime someone shows pride in our country. We are not liked by many people in the world, I admit. But much of that also stems from ignorance, jealosy, or just plain hypocracy. For all the ignorant people who love our country, there are ignorant people who hate our country. I kind of doubt we'd see the same uproar if a country like Spain or Britain proudly trumped nationalism. And we being a superpower, of course, draw more attention than other countries. And by the way, I for one have no problem with Saddam's face being wrapped in an American flag. I support that soldier all the way.
  2. Have fun at school Mothie DL <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks. I'll try. :D
  3. This is exactly why I'm glad I don't live in Florida. Up here, the last flood major flood we got was when Hurricane Ivan passed through (boy, that was fun). And of course, no earthquakes.
  4. BTW, thanks for the Mira pic, Zulu. We don't see enough pics of her, either. I'm sure Jodo will be grateful. I should really contribute to this thread more often. *sigh* Unfortunately, I tend to spend more time writing fanfics than drawing. I guess that can be considered my 'art'. And with school starting tomorrow, I'll have even less time to draw.
  5. This might be deleted by mods, but what the heck. Sir Robin's song (Monty Python and the Holy Grail) Bravely bold Sir Robin Brought forth from Camelot. He was not afraid to die, Oh, brave Sir Robin! He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways. Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin. He was not in the least bit scared to be mashed into a pulp. Or to have his eyes gouged out, and his elbows broken! To have his kneecaps split, and his body burned away And his limbs all hacked and mangled, brave Sir Robin. His head smashed in and his heart cut out, And his liver removed and his bowls unplugged, And his nostrils raked and his bottom burnt off, And his peni--
  6. Starcraft. That's also where I got my love of RTS's.
  7. Actually, with Mira, I let her level up fairly high because that way she gets a lot of her range-based feats. With all her abilities like targeting and precise shot, she is probably the best ranged character in the game. I usually let her level up, get a bunch of these feats, then Jedify her. Bao-Dur was a little similar, simply because he is loaded with skill points and if you Jedify him (into a guardian) he loses a lot of skill points. The rest I pretty much made into Jedi as soon as I could.
  8. Love it. This thread needs more Visas pics. Dang, I keep missing a lot of art. Great pics, EVERYONE!!!
  9. This wasn't the first game I ever played, but Diablo 1 is undoubtedly my oldest. The sequal is way better, but I still play it once in a blue moon.
  10. I love McDonald's! Problem is, the stuff's bad for you, so I eat it very sparingly. Have you ever looked at a nutritional chart for McDonald's food? Some of the stuff is so fattening I can't believe it! A double quarter pounder with cheese has over 700 calories, about half of which are from fat alone. A couple of the items have over 1000 calories. Also, only seven items total on the menu have no sugar whatsoever. I think they were french fries, sausages, hash browns, McNuggets, diet coke, iced tea, and water. Yes, even the salads have sugar.
  11. Welcome! As the above post said, try posting your art in the Star Wars Fan Art thread in this section. Very good! Only real criticism I have is the neck. Make it shorter and thicker.
  12. 13-year olds are not bad.
  13. Fionavar, aka the Green Dragon. Haven't seen him on these boards in a while, though. Battlwookie and Eldar are cool, too. But I will never post anything bad about Authority. I do not wish to be dragged off to room 101.
  14. What? How could you use pistols instead of lightsabers? Especially considering how weak they are compared to lightsabers? For me, I like orange, silver, and blue.
  15. I for one can't single out Jodo for anything, cause 'maturity' seems to be a subjective term on these boards... "
  16. That might be what Jodo's talking about, then (the 'idiot' page). He probably didn't know what it was and just called it a virus. Fortunately for me, I first discovered that flash on my school's computer, not mine.
  17. Actually, didn't Mandalore's sidequest get cut anyway? You can still do the quest, but Mandalore never gives it to you and it never appears in your journal. I preferred the K1 method of finding out about characters. The sidequests were fun, and I think it made them seem more 'real'. And getting dialogue after getting a level at least ensured you'd be able to get everything out of an NPC. The influence system in K2 was a great idea, but it had several flaws. For instance, a lot of it is circumstance-based, so if you don't have the right party member with you at a certain point, you miss out on influence opportunities. And with some characters, like Visas, you get so much influence with them in one or two conversations that you get all their dialogue out really fast, and they have nothing new to say the rest of the game.
  18. I'm still ambivalent about that 'viral' link. Jodo still claims he got a virus from it, Numbers still claims he never posted one. And while Numbers's original post didn't have any link, people can always edit posts. And the Jodo-Numbers conflict still rages to this day.
  19. I still can't believe that people still want to hold companies like McDonald's responsible for making people fat. What's worse is they cite advertising/targeting as a reason! I mean, come on! They're a business, not a charity! Of course they're going to pull in as many people as they can. It's not like someone's holding a gun to your head and forcing you to eat McDonald's. And what's also rediculous is that people are critisizing McDonald's for not putting 'healthier' choices on their menu. WTF? If you want healthy food, eat somewhere else! The choice is simple: if you know the food there is bad for you, don't eat there.
  20. I wonder who the oldest member of these boards is? So far the highest age I've seen is 36. For that matter, I wonder who's youngest.
  21. Well, I don't expect to change your opinion, but I can only say you're wrong about that. Christianity permits none of the vile deeds its followers may do, that is human nature taking over. And it and its doctrines have benefitted civilization much more than harm it. And God doesn't hate, either, no matter what kind of person you are.
  22. Why so, if you don't mind me asking?
  23. I'm very against abortion, except in some circumstances, such as if the mother's life is in danger. The way they abort babies in some cases is just awful. I've talked to an abortion survivor who was crippled much of her life because her mother attempted to abort her. In fact, just last year, she was able to jump. Stem cell research has so much potential to help people, but how to get them is what poses a problem.
  24. Okay, thread title is still the same, but as said in the edit in my original post, this thread is now open for any funny government/lawyer/judicial/political stories, or anything like that. (this is just so a mod doesn't come down and prune or lock the thread)
  25. Well, that's a relief! I thought for sure Hydrogen was locking this thread for being off topic! (his story reminds me of the way people yell at airport security for profiling Arabs) Perhaps it really is time to change the thread title. But what to? Hmm....
