  1. Then perhaps a better line to take would be "I don't have the energy to respond right now. So temporarily concede the point. I may come back to you, though."
  2. Reading the post from Chilloutman, I'd like to have a European style monk, a la Chaucer. So my feats mainly evolve around getting drunk and being bawdy.
  3. Granted, mummies (iirc) have better skills, and so I have to concede the point. However, what I was referring to - albeit sloppily - was that the flesh golems sit in the mix better. Mummies have no fluidity around them, unlike the golems which have werewolves. Note to all new players: 1. Getting pushed off the side of the pitch is very very bad 2. If you leave a player standing on the edge of the pitch then they are very likely to get pushed off 3. If your opponent has players with 'frenzy' skill then you need to be careful TWO squares away from the edge. Because they can push you back twice.
  4. All the forum actually obliges you to do is expend time and effort. How you utilise it is entirely up to you. So to take one example at random, you are at complete liberty to expend time and effort making everyone feel substantially better informed and more intelligent. Does that help clarify things?
  5. Simple: convince a celebrity chef to make them the next 'must eat' middle class meat.
  6. After reading the entire Gotrek and Felix I thought I should read something a bit more grown up, so I'm onto the Diary of Anne Frank. It is actually _both_ readably written, and packed with interesting vignettes and facts. Giving a picture of persecution, and occupied Holland, while at the same time being frequently very funny. Previously Holland was pretty much just Herman Giskes and MARKET GARDEN. Now I picture all the tired faces and colourful coats and women 'blown out' by potatoes. I'm only half way through so I can't comment on the ending, but it is already hard to think that the author is going to perish so cruelly. Heartily recommended.
  7. Define immersive and don't forget to explain why that should be a goal of every role-playing game, then maybe I'll be able to see the logic. [above quote taken from "Obsidian why you stop?] This exchange struck a chord with me because I'd been pondering similar in my local tabletop group. It seems to me that what they are actually debated is computer-assisted immersion versus human-generated immersion. The former is unlikely to ever completely replace the latter. Game design, dialogue, plot, tropes, all of these are equally important. So that's one question: is artificial reality a chimaera? My second question is the old social one: is the drive for augmentation producing 'flabby' minds? That is, children derive a healthy benefit from using their imaginations, and heavy computer-augmentation of fantasy is weakening development?
  8. They will be dearly missed... Who let you out of your cage, Roby? Judging by his avatar I'd say he escaped using his own cunning. And lost his pants in the process.
  9. let us know how you get on, though. If there's something wrong with the support then that's munting the enjoyment of the game. And I bet Obs will take issue, albeit just by complaining.
  10. Nonsense. I'm sure you're easily capable of mastering them. You're not some wet-eared twelve year old playing a game for the first time.
  11. Two top tips from a tropical traveller: 1) Wet your hand. This reduces the speed of airflow and makes it easier to trap the mozzie. 2) If you have a mozzie loose in your room, and you can't track it down, pull your sheet up to your chin, and stick your feet out the bottom, within reach. The mozzie will be attracted to both the warmth and smell of your feet, and when it strikes, you can strike back!
  12. Yeah. It shouldn't have been cancelled, but it was. The shame of it is that if it had been produced in the UK it could have developed and matured into an absolutely epic show. No disrespect to the USA. Just the network's brainless application of ratings over nous. EDIT: That came out sounding patronising, but I'll leave it, as it probably is.
  13. I have also joined. Amazons all the way. If i have to lose, I want something to watch. ~~ EDIT: IMO the flesh golems (frankensteins) are the best heavy hitters around. For the very simple reason that they don't get randomly confused or try and eat anyone.
  14. _Was_ having a bad day, feeling a bit low and useless. Then - and this is 100% true - I read a new pronunciamento from Nick Clegg and genuinely felt completely fine.
  15. It sucks to get bounced around support people, but i have to agree with Apatia. It doesn't sound likely that Obsidian can fix it/are supposed to fix it. Surely this is a problem with marketplace? Keep persevering, buddy. It's an awesome game.
  16. I'm familiar with the problem of getting bugs to appear dev-side. We actually use some software that was developed by some very good people, who have been trying - literally - for years - to replicate the problems we have. I know they aren't lying, because I've been with them, trying to get the problems to happen. Something to do with the .NET framework we're using. Anyway, I can accept an honest open apology like that in the way it's intended. By way of contrast, Relic's chosen support THQ never even answered emails or posts about the NAT errors on Company of Heroes.
  17. I guess that might work. Harder to replace any 'bulbs' that go, though.
  18. Reminds me of that chap I met from Nigeria who claimed that it was unfair that athletes couldn't use steroids. That it was an American conspiracy to dominate sports. When I pointed out that this seemed odd, given it applied to American athletes as well, he said it didn't, because Americans had access to super steroids and stuff that were super advanced and undetectable. He said that this was unfair on athletes from smaller countries who couldn't afford the undetectable stuff. Apparently this theory is quite popular in Nigeria.
  19. Scene is prison in MST3K Space Mutiny Calgon: Is this the man? Krow (as goon-guard): Why no, sir. YOU THE MAN! I demand this dialogue.
  20. To be clearer, I mean I am putting lights into some bloody art. I want them to be safe, so I don't want to wire my own from scratch, just strip away the housing from some off the shelf lamps. Although obviously, if I can do something with all the housings then I will.
  21. I wonder what Freud would say: http://goo.gl/WURZ3R That you're gay for Putin, it seems. And you too obviously, since you seem so eager to talk about it. Besides, what could possibly more gay than a Space Marine avatar? A Thousand Sons space marine avatar?
  22. LOL. That is exactly what I was thinking. A chap would be lucky to own that dog. ~EDIT On the subject of my own adventures, amusing incident today when this big fellah mocked two of my colleagues for talking geek, then a whole bunch of us seeming 'normals' chipped in saying we were also geeks. He looked terrified, like we were pod people. Like in that film.
  23. That rather depends on how the stats were collected. If they are official police stats then I would anticipate a higher recorded rate when police are trained, equipped, and able to successfully prosecute. EDIT: To clarify, rape victims do not always come forward immediately. Meaning that there has to be some tendency to just want to hide and pretend it wasn't all that bad or maybe you asked for it, or maybe it was etc etc. To consider filing charges there must be some perception that you are going to be treated professionally and sympathetically by the cops. AND that they are going to follow up and investigate thoroughly. This is why the police (at least in the UK) talk at the conclusion of cases about the courage and integrity of the victims in giving evidence. They believe it leads to a greater willingness by victims to speak out.
  24. Don't you believe it. The future is sub-component design and production. Much as in the combustion engine. Nanotech is already offering a huge advances in projectile design, armour piercing, and who knows what kind of sorcery nano-'s going to achieve in propellants!
  25. Absolutely crazy day at work today. Just went mental, plus the inevitable ****-ups when the pressure gets above a certain level. Good bit of frowning, swearing, and shouting, but ended with smiles. Going for beers with my team tonight.
