Isn't that from the robot butler in Fallout?

KaineParker's hopefully attractive women thread.

Two observations: - Great photo. I can practically smell cold wool, and damp asphalt. (In contrast to my last photo which just looks unreal) - Is that an SKS?- 526 replies

As a tangential but related aside, I would observe that all the time I spent in my teens and twenties chasing girls was completely 100% worthwhile. If any of you younger chaps are wondering if you should have 'better' priorities, the answer is 'no'.

You are aware that this is the same Scott Lively who co-wrote The Pink Swastika: Homosexuality in the Nazi Party which claimed that the Nazi party was founded by gays and that they were responsible for the Holocaust? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pink_Swastika Oby you really need to research your sources a bit more. You ever have a moment where you want to laugh, but your lungs and oesophagus just won't let you even begin because you might actually die?

Strictly speaking I turned 50 on my 11th birthday.

So acting like a sociopath is a bad thing is what you are saying ? Hmm. To be fair, from what you've been saying both you and your workplace exhibit sociopathic tendencies.

So, we're agreed that it's fine, then?

'Tis true. I'm to blame. We need (I reckon) about 6 teams to have a simple tournament. We also need someone who can fathom the byzantine complexity of the multiplayer game. Stretch goals would be: 1) a 'live' game where injuries and experience, etc are carried over match to match 2) Salt in some computer teams to bulk out the experience until we get more teams ~~ I have a few good teams to field at about 2000 PV. Human, Dark Elf, Dwarf. I will field whichever one compliments the other players.

Reconciling different perspectives on grieving
Walsingham replied to alanschu's topic in Way Off-Topic
I just checked: - Denial - Anger - Bargaining - Depression - Acceptance http://psychcentral.com/lib/the-5-stages-of-loss-and-grief/000617 You could have some awesome death-type social gatherings using that lot. I'd definitely be up for an anger party, where you burned effigies of cancer or the NHS or something. Or you could have an auction to 'bring them back'. Proceeds to a charity. -
I believe the correct response is to write "We have to stop meeting like this. My partner is getting suspicious." on a napkin, and hold that up.

Chav culture can't be explained wholly in terms of American subcultures, though. Because you have to remember that an essential part of being a chav is suckling on the teats of the State. Ideally, as a chav, one should spend the most productive parts of the day sitting on a badly maintained brick wall in a public space, sullenly gazing at nothing. In the US I believe guidos have to be self-supporting.

I don't know about you, but I remember turning 28 and thinking "I bet this is the best age I'm ever going to be."

Reconciling different perspectives on grieving
Walsingham replied to alanschu's topic in Way Off-Topic
Aren't there supposed to be five stages of grief? Denial, anger, grief <sic>, bargaining, kraft cheese slices? Or something? Logically one would expect our culture/s to support all five stages. But we only really do one. Personally I'd be interested in inventing novel cultural events for the other four. -

I can understand that you would want to make a publicly visible statement. After all, isn't that what a gravestone is? But then equally I know how your aunt feels, wanting it to be personal and private. When my godfather died the only person I felt able to talk to was his nurse. Everyone else at the funeral and wake seemed only half-interested (to me at the time). I became furious and wanted to drive anyone tangential away, with firecrackers or sticks. Grief is immensely personal. I'm interested and impressed to see that almost everyone here is saying you have to take each instance on its merits. But I also agree that you did the right thing by accomodating your aunt's feelings. EDIT: To directly answer your question, I'd suggest that the old 'Irish' approach of getting steaming drunk and staying up all night is a good process for accomodating wildly different views. It's what I did when my mum died. -

I feel obliged to raise my hand here. I can never remember which is which either. Besides, wasn't t Mayan prediction based on the behaviour of the Sun, which is a reasonable thing to try and predict?

Amazing what an enterprising lad can achieve with a love of gaming, two cut-rate ladies of negotiable affection, a pig, an office party, and a photocopier.

I'm sorry, GD. But I'm going to have repeat myself. Leaving aside the moral question it is indisputable that: - The 'Middle East' is a source of fossil fuels which keeps the World not just moving but actually _alive_ using petrochem based fertilisers and pharmaceuticals - The 'Middle East' impacts, via the Horn of Africa and t Suez canal, two of the World's most important seagoing trade routes - The 'Middle East' contains hundreds of millions of people who will not simply sit still if the region goes to hell, and will promptly do legs for all points of the compass - The importance of the Middle east is shared by the United States, Europe, and Asia alike. If even one region was crippled by the Mideast failing then that in itself could drag down everyone else. It seems to me that the United States cannot afford to 'wash its hands' on purely practical grounds. I really don't think fantasising about sweeping an entire global region under a massive tarpaulin is helping the debate.

I think this may have to do with choice of faction, what you say I've also heard from others who haven't played carthage, and yet I hear them echoed by others who do play carthage. Presumably because unlike the Romans, Carthage has a safe flank?

I wouldn't fire him for hate mail. I'd make him walk a long wooden bar, suspended ten feet off the ground every day in the company car park. Haters would be permitted to come in, for a small fee, and lob eggplants at him during his attempt. If he fell or otherwise failed to walk the bar he would be obliged to resign. I can therefore recommend you begin training your toes to grip things.

If I were a moderate fighting for a decent future for my country I would get pretty annoyed if my group was denied aid just because AlQ were also fighting. Even if they were in the majority. This is an internet forum, but remember that I for one have modified my views on things because of arguments I've read here. I talk about those views with dozens of other people, and so on. A hyperbole thrown out carelessly here could cast a long shadow.
