Awesome Now that Valve has demonstrated great interest in Linux, Cryengine is (promised to be) working on Linux, both facts possibly attracting more high profile engines and games to be ported or developed for that OS, and generally more and more games are available from different store systems for it, I may not have to switch to Windows Teh Clowd Edition when the times comes where 7 is not a valid option anymore

Of course there are horrible DRMs that do not require internet or activations like Starforce, the Sony rootkit etc. However, GFWL does need an internet connection, and an account to activate games. Otherwise it's not a GFWL title. A DVD check is not GFWL. Because I don't own FO3, I don't know where the disconnect is here.

Didn't expect them to give in, but all the better While I personally was hardly affected by the regional pricing, due to living in a surprisingly low price country in their scheme by chance, I'm glad they do that. I just wish that people would insist on staying true to original promises on many more occasions. Let's say politics, for example. Or "security vs liberty" issues, which overlaps with the previous example. OT: GFWL is still a DRM, no matter if you can then start the game by just executing the exe, and a horrible one at that.

what is your worst rpg game ever played?
samm replied to darthdraken's topic in Computer and Console
At least you could finish it... I would have liked to, but for some reason the game wouldn't fire a trigger needed to continue. And loading other savegames didn't help (or were there none? only quicksave? can't remember...) Still frustrated for playing that thing for so long and then not being able to finish it -
Seems important for some people to tell them to change their passwords on other sites as well, if they used the same one on multiple sites. If it was a random password, it will not be very easy to crack by the hackers, because Kickstarter apparently used a salted hash and multiple passes, making brute force the only viable option (I can think of) if dictionary attacks fail.

kirottu: FF development by Mozilla is funded by google. Not exclusively, but mainly. Bartimaeus: Same here. However, I have Opera Dev now installed in parallel to the 12.16 for websites that won't work with the old browser. Other than the bookmarks, cache behaviour / location options are what I miss most. For many others, the lack of an integrated Email Client is the main complaint. Despite that, it works pretty well for me, mouse gestures and addons (need Ghostery...) are ok too.

Torchlight 2. Makes me angry to even think about this colossal waste of time  ARPGs really are not for me. -
Update #71: The Heavy Hitters: Rogues and Rangers
samm replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
wth happened to the previously very good portrait of the dwarven female? Or is it just my memory failing regarding the original quality of that picture... Otherwise, nice update, thanks Mechanics remind me a bit of DnD 4e, not in a bad way however.- 483 replies

(I thought you guys were RPG nerds...?) BLACKGUARDS is out now
samm replied to Llyranor's topic in Computer and Console
People upset with chance having a say with hit chances on here and in reviews... well, they surprise me. You have it in DnD as well as in any other TB game really. Got my collector's edition today, a huge box really, too big for the nice content While the gameplay seemed simplistic in the sense of basically consisting of a series of fight screens, I enjoyed my first hour in the game: so many stats and a new system to learn, yay Also, the settings/characters seem brutal and humorous at the same time, I quite like that. Oh, and it's available DRM free both in a box (at least the german version) and as a download on gog. -

He left? A shame. I really liked what I've seen/read from him. Wish him all the best in his future!

I like the fact that this represents a somewhat other take on KS than the past successfully funded KS-games (except Star Citizen): It's really meant as an incentive for an investor to put his money behind the development instead of attempting to have the whole development funded by backers. Oh, and good idea to use £ - makes the numbers seem smaller than most of us are used to

Excellent/favorite minor NPC's
samm replied to Jarmo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
The Krug from Dungeon Siege III :D Swift Thomas from IWD 2, quite handy too That tough woman (Shadowrunner with gangster boyfriend) from Shadowrun Returns as well as the Shaman girl and Sam, if he counts as minor. Really well written game, even if I really forgot all the names... Hrothgar in IWD, maybe thanks to his voice actor. Could quote the intro from that game at least until the heroes emerge after the pass to Kuldahar. Loving it. Also the mage shopkeeper in Kuldahar, and Larrel (?) with his astrolabe and... ah, too many good, atmospheric things about this game Mage with fleshgolem in High Hedge in BG1. Was a pretty location for that game. The guy disguised as a zombie in PS:T's mortuary, and "the post", and Louis at the brothel. That damn pet headcrab in Half Life 2 that likes hiding in important machinery.- 91 replies

More means to stifle competition, what's not to love? Who needs freedom of choice anyway. Or freedom. Everyone's ok with constant surveillance, so I'm sure no one will mind that big corps will be the only ones offering services at reasonable bandwidth and response times. It's the free market baby, it'll regulate itself to the best of our interest <3

From what I've heard it's unnecessarily louder than its 290 (without X) counterpart, especially at idle not significantly more quiet than the original cooler in quiet mode in idle.

Will Ubisoft implement DRM?
samm replied to Phongduck's topic in South Park: The Stick of Truth: General Discussion
I would be very surprised if Ubisoft doesn't embed the game into their usual customer punishment system. I do have Stick Of Truth on preorder, but because of Obisidian and very much despite Ubisoft. I'll just wait to install it until more... let's call it feedback... about the expected Ubi-DRM is available. So if you like Obsidian and / or South Park, I recommend the same strategy- 17 replies

They have an edge at the highest end in terms of performance and performance / watt. Featurewise, they lag behind AMD and have done so afair ever since their 8xxx series (first with DX 10) Now that Mantle is coming up, they're not even leading the proprietary bullsh* corner anymore, and not being part of the HSA foundation, the lack of standardized CPU/GPU integration might hamper them in the future as well. What I mean to say: "having the edge" is very dependent on this egde's definition. Yes, they have plans for the next generations, usually years ahead of implementation, due to the reasons Humanoid stated. Process technology really is the main issue currently for GPUs and CPUs other than Intel's and has been for the past several years.

If I may specify - he'll continue to develop alone instead of in a team for an unpredictable amount of time instead of a fixed release date. Refunds offered - I won't ask for one of course, things are bad enough as they are.
