  1. Female sees kitten: "Aww, it's so cuuuuuute!" Female sees pic of her best friend's new bf: "Dang, woman, he's cute!" World of difference, see?
  2. I think we're starting to occasionally stray a bit too far into "who has the best butt cheeks/butt floss" vs. generalistic "attractive women." It's a hard thing to judge at times, given all the varying degrees of what's PG-13 these days and what's not, so I'm not going to spend time editing out what's there already, but let's try to avoid more of it or there might not be a 3rd thread.
  3. That's an interesting mix...certainly handsome. And there's nothing wrong with the word "cute." Don't know why so many guys don't like that word. Cute can have multiple meanings and implications to women, just depends.
  4. Was surfing through the indie list on Steam and noticed the Kickstarter project Castle Story is on there now as "Early Access." It's not getting very good marks/rep seems like, and I have doubts they're ever going to finish that one. There's also Underrail (turn based rpg, more promising), Prison Architect (looks funny) and Folk Tale (city-build/strategy, reminds a bit of Majesty). I'd try the Prison one but it's rather pricey for early access and Folk Tale has no save-game yet.... Anyone tried the Underrail one?
  5. I don't know about what my eyes are supposed to be able to do...all I know is these days, on modern games with all the bells and whistles, if the fps starts falling below 35fps, I feel like I'm swimming in molasses. It's certainly playable and it's not all herkyjerky, but it's still not visually fluid or smooth. The difference is highly noticeable (vs. 50fps and above). On older games, however, it seemed like you could play games at 20fps and it still felt largely fine. At least in solo-play.
  6. He's pretty cute...probably cuter than his dad was at that age. I wonder if he'll look as weathered, in 15 years.
  7. To quote hubby: "I'm all out of Dexter." Thus he's been watching another Showtime show, called The Big C. I've only seen a few of the episodes and some scenes as I walk by. Seems rather uneven but bits of its black comedy is pretty funny.
  8. About to curl up under some blankets and watch the 1937 comedy film Topper. I love that movie.
  9. *Wants a new bluray/dvd player* Store clerk: Can I help you find anything? I'm the expert in this section. Me: Are any of these still a "dumb" blu-ray player? Store clerk: *silence* ...even the dumbest still has (optional) internet connectivity and a boot-up time. I think that's what I dislike the most about a lot of the new media units. Boot-up time. When I turn something on, I want it to be functional as instantly as possible, like the old days. Not have to stand there for many seconds, disk in hand, waiting for the darn unit to decide it's ready. Boot up time is ok for a computer, not so awesome for a DVD player.
  10. There aren't many (active) around here these days. And I personally try to stay out of the chest-beating discussions as a general rule, because really, I'd rather spend my time playing with a cat or something.
  11. His supposed more mainstream films have lost some of his original touch. I don't think he's ever been comfortable doing the mainstream (non-"independent"), since his Army of Darkness experience. Could be why he's moved so far into producing instead.
  12. I have no clue what the long wig and stuffed dragon toys pinned to long underwear are supposed to be.
  13. I voted Escapism, but for me it really sorta depends on what one means by fantasy. eg I don't see fantasy as limited to magical kingdoms with Princes, Kings, and Elves ... even if that's what is commonly used/referred to as fantasy. Games are escapes from having to think about reality (or sometimes, from having to think at all), and thus I don't really want to play brutal war games with "realistic" guns n' violence, wrack my brain to figure out real-world based scientific puzzles/issues, or manage a career track for a Sim while managing its emotive moods and potty cycles. I just want to turn on a game and have it be immersive enough for me that it's like having tunnel vision...where for a while, nothing else matters and all my focus is bent towards the game. And most of the time, that's been in games with a fantasy type emphasis.
  14. What's wrong with Rami? I know he can be a little weird so he doesn't fit all projects (who does), but seems like it's popular to dislike him these days...I figured because some people didn't like his Spiderman. As to Colin Farrell ... I don't get their attitude towards him in that article. Have they not seen In Bruges? It's not like he's a crap actor. Not the best, but not crap either. As to a Warcraft movie in general....meh. I wouldn't hold my breath re:quality, no matter who's involved.
  15. It did feel a bit anticlimactic, what with all the build up. Rather mellow pacing and conclusion, mostly. But it was pretty emotionally sad. I'm not sure it contradicted chr. evolution too much. He was always a waffler, at least in terms of personal motivations.
  16. Yeah....Jessie and Walt's son's bits were wrenchers. I guess we know now where that time went. A slow, calm before the storm episode, which I appreciated. Not to mention...Robert Forster as the "vacuum cleaner guy". That was awesome. Going to be watching that in a bit.
  17. I saw the word "pizza" enough times in this thread that for a second I thought I'd mis-clicked and was in the "What's for dinner" thread. ...and Neverwinter is still the only game I log into a bit each day. Must...get...that Pray reward companion...
  18. Stayed up way too late, then slept too much. Now tapping feet for Breaking Bad ... 30 minutes and counting... Also ... it took a while, but Mr. Black now jumps up and sits on the toilet whenever he hears the shower running, meowing and trying to poke his nose in. I guess he is a ... Peeping Tom!
  19. Don't get me wrong, I understand visually not liking an article of equipment. I personally never like helmets (in games) because they almost always look dorky to me, not to mention completely hides the face I might have spent a long time polishing in the chr. creation menu. It's the "shouldn't have to in order to maximize..." thing I don't really get. Should games never have helmets, then, because I shouldn't have to wear one to maximize my potential? Or if someone doesn't like wearing gloves? And so on? But I have a solution! They should just make all equipment have a "disable visuals" option, like some games do with helmets. My entire party will be able to (effectively) fight whilst looking like they're wearing just their boots! ... you probably think I'm joking, but that would crack me up to no end....
  20. So don't be concerned with maximizing your potential if you're roleplaying in that fashion/really dislike jewelry? I don't think I've encountered a rpg where I felt like I *had* to wear rings in order to progress/win - outside of the last difficulty playthru of games like Diablo or something, perhaps, but that's quite different. And even those games you could get away without wearing a piece of equipment or two if you felt like it.
  21. Oh? That would explain things/seem more reasonable then. I didn't notice any option for that sort of thing but I also wasn't looking for it. Do you know if it's currently on the PC version or maybe it's something on the console? Maybe it's something akin to the /players8 of D2. Altho having the top tier difficulty run-thru have an "easy" mode seems to kind of miss the point of having multiple re-play difficulties...
  22. My dreams often feature the house I grew up in. My parents are rarely in the dream, just the house/rooms/furniture. I'll be frolicking in some dream world, then suddenly transition to that house for a scene or two, then back out to the dream-world, so to speak. When a parent does pop into the dream, it's usually my mother, whereby she'll be sitting at the expandable and functional wood dining table where we had all meals, or sitting on the couch (the one currently in my living room, in fact...). I don't think I dream about water very often. Occasionally there might be a tidal wave. But don't think I've ever had a drowning dream. Just the slo-mo running and sorta-falling (not flying). (edit - oh no, wait, when I was very very little, I had dreams about pool drains. Being afraid the drain would suck me in. Childhood terror. Not in forever, tho)
  23. So I allowed Diablo3 to patch itself, after a year away or something. Didn't seem to take very long (they had just put in the Paragon levels when I stopped). I had multiple lvl 60's but I took my best chr. (Monk) and ran around a few Inferno areas to check difficulty. And yeah...the general difficulty in Inferno is utterly laughable now. The unique mobs, with their lasers, prison spells, and fire pits under your feet and all of that ... I could just stand in them and not move for an entire fight, now. My health orb never went down more than a tiny bit. This with MF gear on, vs. best-damage-gear. I mean, upon release Inferno was nuts and I felt it could use a little reduction, but wow, they really EZ'd it up. Didn't test the Act bosses. Item wise, I was geared with a ton of MF so I didn't see much difference in general drops of, say, Rares. Legendaries require more time investment to check out and probably not going to go there. Anyway ... none of the changes made pre-expansion are enough to make me want to go back.
  24. I think prevention of overpowering comes more from the design/stats of rings then the number of rings. ...at any rate, I wonder, will there really be such a plethora of rings in P.E. to make wearing 8, 10, or more rings a decent "choice" option in the first place? This isn't Diablo ... I'm not really picturing P.E. dropping a ring every other fight for you to mull over. Also, the same could be said about necklaces as rings. People are capable of having more than one around their neck, after all. Granted, 10 thick gold chains or very large pendants probably gets a little cumbersome - not to mention potentially outfit-clashing - but hey, you could.
