  1. @Keyrock I'm envisioning the "badgers" music, only with the words "Ramen ramen ramen ramen" instead. As usual, I am jealous. I would like the new latest and greatest too. The 590 has so far turned out to be a great buy in the long run, but it definitely seems crazy when you initially buy something like that. Always tempting, tho. Maybe the next version...
  2. After first going "Steam", then waffling on that all morning, Steam it is, for the key. I'll always have the backer-box copy if I desperately want to play a non-patched game, in the future, for some oddball reason. ...not that that will likely occur, I just like the thought that I could. Heh. Box version will most likely just sit on a shelf somewhere in a place of honor.
  3. Well, in my book, people saying "they don't recall that being said" doesn't = savaging newcomers or being upset. Certainly wasn't my intention. More like curiosity/trying to figure it out, precisely because I didn't recall such being said.
  4. Based on a dev quote from last night, your backer boxed edition needs no key. So...only the one key is needed in your case.
  5. Or misinterpreted/misconstrued what the dev said. Anyway, of course I don't recall every single thing every dev has said, ever. Only that I don't recall such a promise being made, myself. But if it had been a big/known promise made, I'd have expected a bigger outcry that it didn't occur. I haven't seen anything like that ... just the media-gets-to-play first debate.
  6. I wasn't saying that one would ever have made a party with chrs. who all had mega CON or something, haha. Just that I did tend to put a few points in it for melee chrs (not ranged, mind). Sometimes those few extra health points helped in a big fight imo...depends a lot on playstyle I suppose of course. I tend to like somewhat rounded chrs, to a point, vs. a mega dumping stat to max others higher. The impression I'm getting here tho is that even many "tank" builds may not care at all about any extra CON, which just feels strange to me, a not-D&D player, is all.
  7. I don't recall that ever being said. Perhaps you're thinking of the backer beta, that was accessible at certain pledge tiers?
  8. I have no idea what they're like in person/to work with, but this is sorta like breaking up Kirk/Spock/McCoy. Those three worked so well together (at least on screen) and had a synergy that was vastly entertaining, often making me sit down to watch a show that normally I wouldn't have much interest in what it does. Ah well. All things must end eventually.
  9. Interesting. I'm so used to health/con being at least somewhat important in most games. Maybe I'll try an all low-Con party. ...I'm probably going to go insane with the learning curve, since I haven't been keeping up with all the beta or build info these months. Good times!
  10. I'm not sure how that compares to the ATI Radeon HD 4850 or NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT listed in the min. specs - it's better than some onboard video of the past but still not super great. I've seen some play other Unity early access games with HD 4000, but not sure how those games compare to whatever PoE is doing with it. At any rate, I'd bet it'll at least run at low graphic settings and all that.
  11. The mid-late 90's are mostly a giant blur for me, TV wise. heh.
  12. Brain and eyes have had enough staring at a close monitor for a while, so I think I'm going to now ... sit farther back and watch a movie on the monitor. Probably Predators 2010, because for some reason I feel like listening to Adrien Brody's growly voice. He was really great in that action role.
  13. Yeah...it gets decompressed later when full installation takes place.
  14. Oh, that I'm well aware of. It was just the Steam/Origin thing that I was wondering about. Yeah, Uplay. Ubi's on my s**t list, so I avoid that like the plague. Oh, doh, brainfart. I was probably thinking UPlay, not Origin, when I posted earlier. My bad. No actual clue on Origin.
  15. I don't think there's any that required both, no. It's just that if you bought some of them via Steam, because you like having all your games in one place or something, you still had to sign up/use Origin as well. At least, that's what I heard/understood.
  16. That's possible. It's been a long time I don't remember offhand what all the backer tiers were offering etc.
  17. ^ It's more like backers and any other digital purchase buyers have a choice of choosing (or buying, if not a backer already) via GoG (no drm) or Steam (form of drm in this case). But retail "box" copies will be Steam. I'm guessing that = can install from disc but still have to use Steam to verify/run it, but not 100% sure on that. edit - that's how Fallout NV worked, as I recall, if you bought the disc, which is why I bought it on Steam vs. disc, since I figured I had to have Steam regardless.
  18. Now that they're here, I suddenly can't decide whether to redeem with GoG or Steam. I was going to go with Steam for convenience etc. but on the other hand I like separate patch versions and GoG tends to do that better. ...phooey, I'm indecisive this evening.
  19. Not entirely avoided, no...but no stream watching or obsessive info hunting/sourcing for me. During/after the Kickstarter I was super hyped. But 2+ years is a long time and after a while I've been busy doing other things and was away for a while to boot, so now I'm a lot more mellow about it all. But I'm definitely looking forward to getting my hands on the finished game at last. It's been a long wait.
  20. It's not getting the game earlier, it's being able to pre-load. It's not like they can actually play it yet, just saves time downloading it on release day. Common thing for Steam pre-orders these days. ...but I do know what you mean. If a backer wanted to use their key on Steam, it'd be nice to be able to pre-load it as well, soon.
  21. I can understand why people don't want to see/read them. Are the backer-tombstones at least different looking, or set apart in certain areas, or anything like that? That would at least help so people didn't have to click them (that they were easily recognizable). Dunno tho...if they're all mixed in with other lore tombstones etc. that'd be more problematic. At any rate, as someone else said, whatever was done, too late to change anything at the moment. I can't even recall what I put on my survey thingie re: that. I avoided it for a long time then finally felt like I had to turn it in, so it's probably some brief quote I liked from something. Not even sure if I submitted it in time, and doesn't matter to me if not. >.>
  22. Inbetween attempts at loading/reading the forums, using the Lean Mean Grilling Machine to cook up a series of small boneless porkchops for a late lunch. Don't love the thing, but it works and more importantly, is easy use/clean, vs. a messy frypan. Just for sandwiches anyway, mostly. Guess I'll be sitting on the couch watching TV, laptop in hand, while waiting to see if the PoE keys are truly coming today or not.
  23. Stop that, you're slowing down the forum. ...more seriously, I wonder, when they do announce it, if I'll manage to get to the backer portal and grab my key before Obsidian's web server explodes. *wink* I might decide to wait a bit instead. Just a bit.
