Yikes. When we had a pool, I went outside once and the pool pump was pouring water out because the top of the unit had popped. At least that was outside tho. Are you going to replace the carpet? I'd be worried about mold because of my allergies. :/ Anyway, hope it dries out quickly!

When I first saw the 2nd incarnation of the Act3 boss in Path of Exile for the 1st time, a while back, my first thought was: "Evil Demon Bunny!" Or rat. It could be a Demon Rat. With a blueberry nose. At any rate, I remember laughing. I hope they were aiming for silly because it sure wasn't scary.

I haven't watched any twitch/videos, but I agree with this statement. There's often a large learning curve for the player to boot, even if one is familiar with general concepts of such games. Especially if one hasn't played one in a while. Also, live and blind streaming is quite different from something like most YouTube Let's Plays.

Multiplayer in expansion?
LadyCrimson replied to gnoemli's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
The only time I tried MP in this type of game was Icewind Dale, I think. Someone I knew online ... it went something like this: ::We ran around a bit ::First combat encounter, friend paused the game (which paused everything for me too). Repeatedly, like he was in single-player. I figured that habit was going to be hard to break so we didn't repeat the attempt. Heh. But yeah ... the era of mass persistent MMO's or at least limited size grouping games like Diablo or FPS are what most people think of when "multiplayer" is mentioned, now. Which is why I think there's often such a negative response. But there was a time when multiplayer was a bit different in concept.- 65 replies

I don't mind some flash/action but it's just gone way overboard these days. Shows that started better in that regard (CSI Vegas) are now just like all the rest (or worse). I like emphasis on characters and the mystery development, not whiplash music/video montages. Anyway, yeah, I think I've heard of that series, but never watched it. If I can find it, I'll check it out.

Keys ? When ?
LadyCrimson replied to Skysect's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
maybe a silly question but what is the backer portal? http://eternity.obsidian.net/ ..login and if you're a backer you should see some drop-down options under your sign-in name (Manage Pledges, My Account etc). -
How is what I said misleading? I was referring to the OP's desire to discuss spoilery stuff and not being able to do so in this, the PoE "General" - eg, they could start up a topic in the PoE Gameplay & Mechanics forum instead. The PoE forums likely need/will get some restructuring to be more suited to post-release-period discussions etc but I'm not in charge of that - I'm just a lowly volunteer forum mod.

I think the people who I assume took/analyzed photos from the helicopter could maybe use a little more training.

Tried a couple episodes from the long running Midsomer Murders series. I think I like it. Nice to have a murder mystery show that's not all flash and bang (looking at you CSI's). Although I tend to keep falling asleep in the middle (they're 100 minutes long each one), but this isn't the fault of the show, just my current physical exhaustion. Side note: I think I read that they've approved a Walking Dead spin off, to be set in Los Angeles. To which my reaction was, "that seems totally not necessary."

^ I don't know about what legal limits are, but this is why I don't like the "camera on every corner" concept that the world is going towards. But the airport security stuff has been pretty overboard imo since 9/11. Does it make us statistically safer ... can't really say. But it doesn't feel great. ...not sure it's really related to speech itself, tho. More the Orwellian type of debate perhaps. How fear tends to breed allowance of things that might not sit well with us normally.

When I first got into CRPG's I bought a baby-name book so I could just rifle through it and pick one at random if I liked the way it looked. The book had all kinds of exotic names and odd spellings that looked "fantasy game-ish" to me at the time. Heh. These days I tend to just cobble together a name based on a chr's art looks or game function, with purposeful misspellings that = something that looks like a name at first glance. Maybe for the first chr. in PoE I'll make more of an effort to come up with something less oddball.

The other forums do allow spoilers, but they are currently titled/described for the Kickstarter/development period, which is now confusing, especially to new members. If you look at the South Park or Dungeon Siege3 forum sections, that's the typical game-release forum structure done in the past - PoE being what it is tho, who knows what they'll do this time around.

My impression is what she posted are bigger than the game portraits would be? So maybe she wanted to showcase them larger for detail...with the idea that people would crop/use them as they saw fit, to use in their gameplaying, if they wished. That is not the same thing as wanting her original's re-posted on the internet/forum itself. She also (in the original post) clearly said they might not be finished/she maybe was still tweaking them and that they were not "cropped to proper size yet." eg, maybe she was originally going to eventually post her finished ones, in a proper size for game use, for people to use. I don't know if that was actually her plan, mind, I'm just saying could be. So here you all are, jumping the gun and getting on her case, so now it's doubtful she will. I probably wouldn't if I was her.

I sometimes want to hire someone to clean the house a couple times a month or something, but then I realize I'd probably decide they were terrible at cleaning, so I haven't yet bothered. eg, I'm too ocd about certain cleaning thingies to have someone else do it for me. It's not that I'm a super clean-neat freak with a pristine house 24/7 - only that certain things have to be done a certain way or I go bonkers. ...slept a lot this weekend, since for part of it my head felt kinda like the exploded-head silver terminator in T2. Currently awake and listening to the light rain that suddenly showed up. May try to watch some Netflix, since of course now I'm not sleepy.

I have removed the non-watermarked, altered versions of the original portraits. The creator of those portraits didn't want them posted in the fora like that, so I don't consider it proper to do so "just because you can." Let's not do that again. It's fine to discuss watermarking art vs. not, but it can and should be discussed without violating Wespenfresser's potential copyright and personal wishes. P.S. - btw, being someone who likes to do amateur photography at times, I completely understand where she's coming from. It's a tough thing, the public internet vs. how much we want to share, at times.

I stopped eating canned tuna a long time ago because of that. I mean, once in a great while, but I used to eat tuna for lunch quite often as a kid/teen. But I guess I didn't like it enough to keep on eating it despite myself (like I do with too much beef, haha), so now I don't.

Oh btw, I think arsenic is not currently regulated in most food stuffs. Including rice products. It is regulated re: drinking water, I believe. http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2014/01/fda-data-show-arsenic-in-rice-juice-and-beer/index.htm

Of course we do. But my impression is that they are woefully understaffed and likely often politically blocked, along with the usual notions of many many loopholes and ever changing ideas of what levels constitute enough of a danger to alter current production rulings, as well as whether a product is consistently overboard in general or if it's just a single brand, or if it's a "natural" byproduct and people should just not eat so much of it, and so on.

I'll probably restart a dozen times before I "discover" a chr. that I like enough to finish the game with. eg most people will have finished the game twice before I even get halfway there. I'm typically the same re: fog of war type stuff, as well, although as the years (and years) go by I find my aging attention span/impatience occasionally trumps curiosity.

Consumer Reports has done a lot of little reports over the years about arsenic levels in food, among other things. It's always a little disconcerting.

My memory is fuzzy at this point...there were brief Atari (kid) and Nintendo (late teen) and pc text attempts (20's), but I didn't get really into electronic gaming until Doom. So there was Myst, Diablo, Tombraider, DungeonKeeper, various others. Still, I hadn't played a whole ton of different games at the point when I saw BG1 in the store. I recall thinking it might be sorta like Diablo or something. Haha! I had no clue about D&D, just thought it might be fun to play. Anyway, I installed it and got sucked into it for a long time. Pretty much had me playing other story-crpg's for many years after. I do not miss the days of multiple disc swapping.

The funny thing (to me) about those are that it seems to affect more than the characters. eg, the enemy lions get giant heads too. Haven't played enough to know how universal it really is, but the lion thing cracked me up.
