I tend to pick Human a lot, mostly because they're often the generic-bonus types in games. And even when they're not, it's sort of just habit by now. Human/Monk Human/Fighter Elf/Cipher Aum/Barbarian ...since I haven't been terribly keen on the casters in PoE so far, I'm leaning towards liking the fighter class the most.

Testing custom portraits because I want something different. Works fine. What to use then ... besides my cat.

I'd love a Star Trek game (and not a MMO one). I just haven't seen one that interests me enough to even try it, yet.
-
Yeah, it just takes getting a little familiar with the game and the differences between the old IE games and PoE. Because even tho it harkens back to those old games, PoE is very different from them. I started on Normal and was curious about the other difficulties so ran some of the same areas with Easy and Hard to see the differences. I think I like Normal, for my style in a party-game. Single-chr. games I tend to go for more difficulty but parties are different things, to me.
-
On Easy if you want to not have to micromanage as much, you really need the party of 5-6. Something like Radric's hold at lvl 3 is pretty tough with only 2-3, but take in 6 and it's waaaaay easier. So play long enough to find/get the early companions (there's 4 very quickly if you follow the main quest path and explore maps a bit to find them) and/or hire/create more at the Inn's when you have the coin. Two fighter/tanks types in front, the rest ranged of some sort (wands and bows + spells) and you likely can, most of the time, just focus on the fighters while the others are support. That said, there will be fights/enemies/areas where this doesn't work and you're going to have to step in and do a lot of micro-managing and constant pausing.

I haven't had any issues/noticeable glitches...which makes me nervous about patching it (haven't done so yet). I tend to have this thing with games lately where I'll initially have none of the bugs everyone else has, until the first patch - then suddenly I have them. Then a 2nd patch fixes it again. Or something. Anyway, makes me reluctant to patch games initially.

Interstellar Didn't realize it was such a long movie. We started it late and hubby went to bed in the middle, while I watched everything but the last 30 minutes or so. I'll finish it tonight. It's one of those movies where sometimes you feel like "nothing much is really happening" yet you can't stop watching because it still mesmerizes you somehow. Better than Gravity imo, although the bits on Earth are the least interesting.

+1 ...nice to read something like that.

Endless Paths of Od Nua
LadyCrimson replied to Jojobobo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Yes, I like the way they implemented the backer dungeon. I've been using it to gather coin inbetween questing stuff, or a break from the regular questing. I'm probably a wimp, but there's one level before too long that gave me a heck of a time. Tougher than anything else topside so far. Dunno if it's like that on all the levels, but it was refreshing. -
I like that they're not all 21 or something. I think I'm one of the few who doesn't like Durance. Don't hate him, just don't care for him. Not my kind of "personality". He's written ok, what I've seen...certainly gives me a reaction, so no complaint there. But the more I "talk" to him, the more I find his attitude to be something that feels like sand in my shorts.
-
No, I've had this too. Eder is always in the leader position in my games but whenever I activate Stealth, it feels a bit random who talks. Or maybe it's based on who has the higher stealth, not including your player character. But both Kana and Durance, in my games, seem to react to stealth the most. The others occasionally.

Can I come over?

Edit: Oh wait, sorry, maybe you're talking about the one inside, not outside. Derp. I think that one doesn't clear until you've talked to the statue for the main quest path, again. At least that covers both possibilities now. Haha. -------- I think the issue is when you click that door and the map comes up, it initially centers in the "center" of said map. Which when you haven't explored all the levels, is blank, because the game draws the dungeon map (each level) as you progress. So...page/scroll up and you can see the top layers you've been too, and if you've found any of the exit/entry points, you can click on them.

Tried a pork rib place the other week. Heard great things about it from other people. They were large (not the small babyback) and meaty and the sauce was ok, but holy cow they were super strong with that fake liquid smoke taste. Made it really hard to eat without drowning them in sauce. I've since decided these "other people" have broken tastebuds. They also thought certain Chinese food was good, until we showed them better. I swear, there aren't any good basic eateries here at this point (used to be some, all gone now). *pouts*

Start of previous thread. Last page of previous thread Are we only on "part 6?" I thought it would've been higher by now. Anyway... ...they may be out to kill you, but at least they're polite about it.

Classes with no companions
LadyCrimson replied to gmot9's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I haven't gotten to a high level Monk, and I haven't min/maxed one, so big grain of salt, but they can feel pretty fragile even on Normal for a while, until you get gear etc. From what I can gather, if you build one "right" they can be effective, but are kind of in that weird spot where not as tanky as a fighter/paladin and not as dps as other melee builds. The main problem for me, however, is up to about lvl 6 at least, the Monk is rather dull to play. For me anyway. The whole wound mechanic sounds interesting in principle but quickly became more tedious than anything else. I'll finish my game with her at some point - maybe Monk starts to feel more "fun" at lvl 8 or something. >.> -
What's on the idiot box Part 4 (or something)
LadyCrimson replied to LadyCrimson's topic in Way Off-Topic
I wait for this series to gather a few episodes on the VoD of my cable and then watch them all in a row. Need to catch up soon again. ...was bored so tried CSI:Cyber, even tho the ads looked horrible and made me shake my head. It's even worse than I imagined. Poor writing, poor direction, poor editing, poor camera work. Just ridiculous, imo. -
So we've gone from a potential twitter outrage to a maybe fake twitter outrage to general game critique, Cadegund-gate, rape statistics and a bunch of other stuff. Only on the internet! I think we're long past this having much of discussion "point" or for that matter being about PoE the game, plus we're nearing the post count limit. Game over.

I just realized ... baseball. PoE (and other things) blew it completely out of my mind this year. Not that I'll probably be watching it a ton this time around, too many other interests going. Today it's cool but sunny and thus I am going to go for a long walk around what constitutes the "bay marshes" around here, to watch the ducks/birds flap, the ground squirrels scamper, and the plants sway in the wind. I used to take my camera when I did such things, but now it's too much bother to carry. I prefer to be unhindered. Maybe I need a hat-cam.

Pillars of Future, new Engine
LadyCrimson replied to argenti's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
That's not "new". I remember that promo video for their game's kickstarter, which was a couple years ago or something, just like PoE. But yes I think at the time some were impressed with it. It got funding, at any rate. -
Peon. Yeah, I used to email myself inbox archives for this reason - even if I have space, my personal quirk is not liking clutter, even as I want to keep too much stuff for possible reference. Although lately my laziness tends to trump even my personal quirks....
