I watched occasionally in the 80's, occasionally in the 90's, occasionally in the 2000's....you get the idea. Usually there's some momentary period with a certain regular skit that I like, or it's because I like the host, or whatever. Oh yeah, and in the 80's, I often tuned in for the music acts. The past 5+ years I've rarely tuned in tho, just not that into the show overall anymore, so not familiar with anyone recent. It's consistent at being inconsistent, whether you watch it regularly or semi-regularly, because people tend to find that certain periods/alums suit their personal tastes more than other periods/alums. Such is comedy. :D

This is why I don't like buying tech anymore. Never know what "tests" or what "gurus" are going to fit your personal parameters. I just buy (from a walkin store), and if I don't like it, I take it back. Maybe I should just get the less expensive Titan, because even tho I swore I wouldn't do something like that again, sometimes I'm still a fool.

British model. I like their accents better.

^^ Been there. Don't have an issue with height usually (haha) but I still haven't found one that feels stable but isn't too heavy and has the positional flexibility I want. I may not hike in tall mountains, but I still like having a tripod when I take walks in parks or whatever. Sometimes a monopod doesn't cut it.

*rolls her eyes* ...it's odd because some of that type of humor I can find very funny, but often I'll just sit and stare at the screen yawning. I guess like with all humor it's mostly whether or not I can relate to what the jokes are referencing, and often I don't. Or it's a matter that what I find funny in a 1 minute short form grows tiresome in movie-length form.

Memory Lane: for some reason today I miss my grey dwarf hamster. The way she'd hind-leg bear-dance on top of her plastic igloo to greet me when I came in the door. I'd get another one but it wouldn't be the same (the other one I acquired along with her was very different). Funny how even the smallest creatures can have such varying "personalities." I've been eating a bit more overall this month but still my clothes are getting too baggy (!) so since my appetite is returning I decided I'm going to make some greasy sausage/peppers and rice for dinner. Along with the usual yogurt. And some Cuties mandarin oranges. Tis the season and they are so juicy/delish.

SNL has been "inconsistent" for decades. It's just the nature of comedy skit shows.

That's pretty impressive, even for relatively static imagery. Certain things don't look quite right but stuff like the floor and couch textures are excellent. I wonder what the modeling process was. Edit: to clarify, I'm commenting on the video I saw on YT.

Character Names
LadyCrimson replied to BlueLion's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
You and me both. Well, except for the Gfted part. I have my own oft-repeated thingies. When I do get creative it's usually in the form of some play-on-spelling joke name or something. -
In other film news: I saw the documentary "Terror at the Mall" about the Westgate mall attack. I can't speak to the obvious "authorities were mostly terrible/ineffective" slant the doc. emphasizes, but the documentary, with it's use of almost nothing but mall security footage/interviews with those in the videos and occasionally an on-site journal photographer's rapid fire photos (stitched together to make jerky motion pictures, I gather) certainly make for a harrowing account of the situation, from several perspectives. It's one that will stick with me a while I imagine.

The reboot conundrum again...don't think I'm familiar with any of those women either, not that it matters since while I liked Ghostbusters at the time, I'm not eager to rewatch the original, let alone a remake. But nothing wrong with shaking up the casting if you're going to reboot. Don't see the issue there. My apathy regarding reboots has nothing to do with cast decisions or even the reboot/remake concept itself (they've been doing that forever after all). It's how bloody common/frequent it's become. A reboot/new version of a popular film now and then is fine, great sometimes even, but I'd rather more often see something that feels at least somewhat original than something that is relying on a nostalgia memory of a name/brand to sell itself. It's tiresome and non-creative, is all. And the more people pay to see them, the more likely it is that's what they'll keep on making until there's hardly anything else to choose from. Ok, that last part is hyperbole, but it sure feels like it at times.

Indy "reboot?" Argh. Sigh.

I think I'm going to fall into the camp that Galavant's ending is weaksauce. I don't mind when there's some setup for a next season, but I do mind that there's no resolution at all for what came before, really. But up until that point, I liked the last 60 minutes pretty well.

I watched someone's 2.5 hour, no-commentary playthrough of the first parts of Dying Light. Well, most of it. Skimmed a bit as usual. The menu's and skill trees look fairly interesting, the climbing seems ok...that pre-order "be a zombie" mp thing looks like fun (not that I pre-ordered). The npc/chr. dialogues seem somewhat numerous at times, but not in a way that would annoy me. Still...not sure I want to spend $120 for us to try it. I'm hesitant that we'd actually play it more than one playthrough, if that, is what I mean. But yeah, it sure looks pretty. Edit: So if any of you who have it, as you play, I'd love to hear what you think about replayability.
-
@Gorgon - I've been hearing a lot of positive things about Dying Light, outside of some having memory leak/terrible fps issues or something. Fast combat, crafting, chr. leveling, fast night zombies, etc. I've been curious whether it might be something hubby might like but..not sure yet.

This one's just funny/cute. Maybe I should get Mr. Black a teddy bear too.

Character Race
LadyCrimson replied to Heijoushin's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
This. In terms of the smaller races ... typically I don't choose one as my main, possibly because I'm very short myself and I'd rather fantasy-play someone who isn't, haha. But I like having them in my party and eventually, if I replay enough times, I eventually get around to choosing one as the main. -
Yeah, I kind of feel the same way. He does have a very distinctive visual style, however, as mentioned above, which I sometimes find interesting to witness, even while the movie itself doesn't really entertain me. Also, Lawrence of Arabia is awesome. I've never gotten around to watching the other two in full, tho.

Grey Goo looked kind of interesting but I'll probably wait for some Xmas sale. I'm currently mostly playing the "browse Steam/GoG and oh hey maybe I'll try this one, but, nah" game, while waiting for 7DtD update and PoE release. I'm slightly encouraged lately, however, in that I've been seeing more and more games that at least come close to making me want to hit the buy button, vs. almost nothing at all. Maybe 2015 is going to be a good year for me.

For years the thing about TV weather reports here - more specifically, the "forecast" aspect - is that they were based on San Francisco, or tried to incorporate a huge range to cover the whole extended Bay Area which can have vastly different micro-climates (or whatever you call it) vs. the Peninsula or South Bay or extreme East. Sure, the big maps they'd show would have temp's for all over, but those 5-day forecast type things...nothing close. Now I can get temps/conditions from stations that are a lot closer to where I actually am, so it's generally more accurate on a day to day basis.

Re: Ridley Scott - there's a lot of his films I've never even seen, including Kingdom of Heaven. Usually because the thematic/dramatic matter doesn't interest me. Black Hawk Down was the only one I have seen since Blade Runner where my reaction was much more positive than "eh, it's ok." I'm somewhat interested in the upcoming The Martian, however.

I love Korean BBQ and have even tried to replicate it at home sometimes. But yeah...I think most of us eventually at least have periods (if not forever) where we become very blase about anything we grew up with/ate a lot of. People would rave about my mother's "whatever" and I'd be all "meh." To this day I rarely eat most chicken dishes or any egg-based dish.

Sting and the brief moments of Duncan Idaho and Gurney Halleck were the best things in that movie.
