  1. P.S. It is a bit darker in dungeons/at night but I can still make it out fairly well.
  2. Don't know if it'll look the same on other's monitors, but that's what it's like for me. It's not bright and colorful, but perfectly visible. If adjusting gamma in-game doesn't even increase the overall "brightness" of the map image for some, I'd think that was something else, not just the line-of-sight bubble thing. GPU/driver related maybe?
  3. In terms of just general brightness (not the spotlight/line of sight effect, which is definitely there), mine's darkish (at default game settings), but still completely visible in the sense I don't feel like it's hard to see. Fair bit brighter than the posted pic anyway. I'm using an IPS monitor - don't know if that would make a difference in how "bright" something is.
  4. I find it hard to do anything related to audio voices+corresponding text, because I can read 1000000x faster than voice actors can speak, and the disharmony of info absorption speed is extremely distracting. So when I want to listen to voices, I can't look at text, or if I want to read, I have to turn voices off.
  5. Here's the dev. post where he said the zoom command wasn't part of the disable achievements stuff: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/70495-the-range-of-zoom-amount-seems-very-limited/?do=findComment&comment=1569430 As to the typical .ini or .xml files - I don't see one offhand, no. There might be some editable files but I don't know what they are/what their extensions are at the moment.
  6. Huh. I guess I have this issue then too. I remember/thought I could zoom more in the backer beta, actually, but the release game, full zoom in is still fairly far away. Just thought maybe they'd changed it (since I haven't been watching any videos). Curious. My understanding, from what others have said, is that opening the console itself does not, but if you use any commands the first require enabling by typing "iroll20s", that will.
  7. Yeah...you can of course workaround it by never using the "pick up all" and constantly making sure to move stuff to Stash first before picking new stuff up so things don't get auto-Stashed etc, but that feels kind of restrictive to me. I'll probably enable access-anywhere because of that, but that's just me.
  8. Ah. Maybe that's it, I'll check. I could swear the controls menu said F8. Middle-age close-sight strikes again.
  9. I meant that if your chr. inventory is full after a fight, you can't physically drop items so you can pick up/look at something in the field. So if the Stash anywhere-access setting is disabled, it'll still get put into the Stash automatically, where you can then look at it but can't go "oh I like that better, I'll put that on right now" because you can't access the Stash where you are. At least, that's the way it seems to be working. I haven't tested it extensively to see if there's a way around it (maybe I'm missing something) ....at any rate, I don't miss encumberance myself. I just think system takes a lot of "do I want to wear this armor I just found in box" control away from the player if one doesn't have access-anywhere enabled.
  10. Does quicksave work for you guys? Every time I try (F8) the game tells me in red text that it "is not available." I am not in combat/scripted scenes etc. Manual save works fine.
  11. Monster XP grinding is not in this game, nope.
  12. Some items do/may have holding/carry limits - eg, camping material is limited to a certain number, varies with difficulty setting (6 on Easy, 4 on Normal, 2 on Hard, I think). Could that be it?
  13. I believe that just means you can't access the stash from "anywhere" - you have to be in certain places or safe spots or something (I'm not sure what the actual req. are). But since if your chr inventory is full, new picked up items appear to be auto-placed into the Stash, it's not as helpful as one might think if one is trying to limit carrying capacity to only a select few items.
  14. Boo was around in BG1 too. I liked him a lot more than I liked Minsc, really. ;p
  15. If you fully exit Steam then go into the game folder and click on PoE's .exe, the game launches the Steam client before running the game, so I would say ... no, you can't run it without the client.
  16. I'll ask the super obvious - are you playing in online mode? Steam doesn't record hours played if in offline mode. If that's not it...dunno. :/
  17. Not the same thing, but when I tried playing in a window the edge scrolling failed (mouse moves out of game window). Saw a setting re: edge scrolling, maybe that alters it. Haven't tried it yet tho. I am so slow playing games like these...maybe 5 hours in and I just got Aldoth and finished initially running around the G. Vale. But I am going in very "blind." Monk first, who early on seems to keel over in 2 seconds, until you put a little armor on, but then she's not getting any Wounds and I feel like I may as well have made a fighter instead and... But still impressed/liking the game, even if I am slow. I'm liking it more than I thought I would, actually ... that is, I can have concentration/focus issues re:games these days, so I was worried I'd have a hard time "getting into" a rpg like this anymore. But the exploration is fun and I'm enjoying myself a lot. Just taking it super slow....
  18. Yeah...those always suck. I had it happen to me in Dead Island, even after the patch that supposedly fixed it. Every time I exited that game, I lost all progress (chr. was still there, but he was like newly created/back to the intro scene again...).
  19. I don't know about the issue itself, but as a workaround, would it maybe work if you saved, then before actually exiting the game, alt-tabbing out and copying the save files elsewhere, so you can copy them back before loading again? Or would/do they disappear upon loading the game as well, not just exiting the game?
  20. Not everyone cares about having min/maxed characters. Just saying. Although yes if one cares about that, the companions aren't the best stat-wise I suppose. I like that the story companions aren't "perfect", personally - it makes them seem more like, well, characters.
  21. "For Sale Cheap - belly button lint from an ogre" ...it does feel a little weird with an infinite stash, but the upside is less time spent playing stash-tetris, more time playing. You can pretend the world has a very very strict no-littering policy...
  22. Same. I don't mind them in action-rpg's ala Diablo's I guess, where high-speed dashes through maze like maps are rather the norm if you know what I mean, but I've never felt a need for them in this type of RPG. Plus they clutter up the screen/UI with yet another thingie and I'd rather not have that.
  23. I only did the first few bits of PoE before I had to do a bunch of homebody things. What little I saw I liked, and it ran fine for me. Hoping to get more playtime in late evening/wee hours etc.
  24. Just in case it helps in some small way, I have EVGA Precision v4.2.1 running and have no crashes, after logos or otherwise, so far.
  25. Barely played the beta so I like to not have a super hard experience while learning the game...trying Normal first, as I do pretty much in every game. If that seems too easy I'll start over on Hard. I figure I'll be starting over multiple times for learning purposes anyway...
