Default Keyboard
LadyCrimson replied to typoteque's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
typoteque - if you mean resetting the default key controls within/for the game, there's a title bar in that menu "Restore Defaults" or something like that. That should restore the default key configuration of the game and you can either stick with that or try to change them again. -
The forum quotes went wonky early this afternoon for me, then they went back to normal for short while, now they're wonky again. :D

I honestly don't know about that aspect. My replies were to "simplicity" re: their Steam key's scenario. I only just got the email from Paradox re: the "phsyical swag" this afternoon, myself (says estimated to arrive 30th to 31st, in mine), and don't know why they're being sent at staggered intervals outside of the possibility of having email list sending backloaded program or something. So it's possible you'll get your email pretty soon as well.

What file extension does the file use (the letters after the dot/period)? It's possible the forum isn't configured to allow it as an upload. If that's the case, you can zip the file with something like 7zip or WinZip and try uploading that instead.

Jai can have that sort of large head US football look at times. I think he looks best with the dark, almost shaved hair, because it emphasizes his cheekbones and light eyes. I don't think he's the cutest/hottest guy evah, just that he can be handsome. Also, because he can play guitar and casually sing a song in a voice that doesn't make me totally wince. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPpAJbX2PV8

^ Is that what he meant by that. I had no clue. Did alanschu leave forever? He was another one I was thinking of the other day. ...about time for dinner/homebody stuff again. Tomorrow night hubby is having a guy's poker night, so I can play PoE all day/night without him making lonely puppy eyes at me. ... why couldn't he like games like PoE as well as Borderlands. Sure it's not an action or mp game but it'd still be fun to talk about it or holler at each other from across the hall or whatnot, heh.

From some other posts I've seen, seems those certain npc's are the backer npc's. Interesting. I guess none of them really shook me out of immersion (yet) so they (sort of) fit in to me. Although I did notice one of them had a rather plain, single first name. Kinda cool tho. I'll probably be amused by the tombstones, when I get around to them. I know some don't like them (understandably) but ... I shall probably giggle.

Dialogue Sound issue glitch
LadyCrimson replied to Niranloh's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
----- *squints at the original post* Ah...you're probably correct. My brain mistook the "character voice overs start part-way through their dialogue" part as a delay, not missing words/dialogue. Apologies for my erroneous conclusion/solution direction. -
Hubby has been going through 1st season of that Starz "Spartacus" show. He didn't like the first two episodes at all (so he said) but seems to think it's become better/at least watchable, because he's still occasionally watching another episode. ** I've watched bits and pieces and halves alongside, now and then, and from that I have these things to say: --Jai Courtney is a fairly handsome man imo, but in this series he looks like he belongs on the Blue Lagoon with Brooke Shields. --I think Starz put in more frontal nudity (both male and female, they're equal opportunity) and sex than I've ever seen in a drama series, even on HBO or Showtime, to the point of eye-rolling. But hey, at least they're all gorgeous people. --I'm really tired of gossipy, jealous female chrs. in these shows. It's like watching teenage highschool comedy film chrs. put within an ancient culture. Boring. --the acting is well done, the action is brutal/bloody. But I don't think I'll be watching more than those few snippets I catch as hubby watches. **maybe he just like the girls.

LadyCrimson replied to proppaganda's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Have you tried turning the tutorial messages off? Some had some success on this issue with that.- 10 replies

I'm not sure anyone has this knowledge yet, since it likely would require having completed every single possible thing in the game to do. That said...it's probably doubtful you'd miss anything vital, since voice acting was never the main focus for relating story/lore etc. ...just don't quote me on that.

The key you get for the digital copy is the only key you should get/will get. The physical copy is a DRM free physical copy (not attached to Steam), and that counts as your 2nd game copy. If you were to get a 2nd Steam key, that would count as a 3rd copy.... Edit: the mixup here is that I think the mail was referencing people who only had physical copy packages, which were being delayed shipping until after the release date...the so the digital key was for them so they could play on release day.

Laptop Running HOT
LadyCrimson replied to Jayngo's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I'm an Nvidia person, so I'm not sure how Radeon card maker does it. I have the feeling they have pre-set profiles gained via updated Catalyst driver packages and if you wanted more control over or to make your own (like nvidia can do) a 3rd party program like RadeonPro might be required. I'm not sure on that tho...maybe someone else has better knowledge. There's nothing like the typical "ini" file that I've noticed in the game directories...nor XML or .json file like some Unity games I've played have, so unfortunately I have no idea which files can be easily opened/edited manually, if any. -
Laptop Running HOT
LadyCrimson replied to Jayngo's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Just to say, if a desktop PC is not liquid cooled (just fans) and ambient room temp is 75F+, today's gpu's running some games at 70-75C (at 1080 resolution at least) is actually quite "normal." The GPU can take it/nothing to worry about. Not all games will run at those temps of course. But some may. No clue what temp ranges are normal for various tiers of laptops, tho. -
Save Game Location?
LadyCrimson replied to Dekeon's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
You could create a manual save of your current game, which will remain, before starting a new character. But at any rate... Windows Location: %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Pillars of Eternity\Saves Mac Location: \Library\Application Support\Pillars of Eternity\Saved Games Linux Location: \Home\.local\share\PillarsOfEternity\SavedGames -
I usually force-cap my fps to 60 because super high fps tends to make this GPU heat up more than I personally prefer and I've always hated vsync so refuse to use that method... if I don't cap it, PoE's probably an average of around 75fps (it was actually much higher during beta, but...). *cries at her non-geeky fps*

The retail-outlet boxed copies are physical copies (a disc), far as I know. It's just that they use Steam as the DRM, so even tho it's a physical disc, you still need to use/have the Steam client installed to run the game. DRM-free physical discs were a certain level tier Kickstarter reward. So yes, if you wanted a DRM free disc of the game, those are not available retail.

I'd suspect the green pages are there as filler, because the front cover (in a reader) would otherwise cause (in a 2-page view layout), the cover to be thought of as connected to what is supposed to be page 3, tossing the rest out of even-odd order. The green pages are still there in my viewer, but the 2-page layout (vs. single-page the viewer may default to) puts it all properly in order.

Laptop Running HOT
LadyCrimson replied to Jayngo's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Did you try using the console to disable AA? At least that way you can see if that's the heating cause. Hit the ` key (US keyboards) to open console and type msaa 0 then press Enter. This does not hold between area transitions, however, so has to be repeated each time you do that in the game. Alternatively, you can probably force it off via your GPU control panel by creating a GPU profile for PoE that tells the GPU to ignore application settings and keep AA off.
