Watched a Mike Douglas indie movie called Beyond the Reach. Largely a 2-person movie. Mike plays a rich guy who wants to illegally hunt bighorn in the Mojave, has a young tracker guiding him, things go wrong. Mike is having a grand old time being "rich-smarmy-evil guy" again, which gives a chuckle or three, but overall the movie isn't very good. And the ending is almost comically bad. 5/10 - only watch if you really want to see the star ham it up in that type of role again.

Easy is definitely way too easy for me. Normal is a nice combo of not-very-taxing/not stressful but those certain tough fights still need my attention if I don't want to wipe. I suspect Hard would be about where I'd want it (for repeats) ... if I wanted combat to be harder/more taxing, that is. I don't find combat interesting enough to want combat to last longer, however, which to me is all the harder difficulties achieve. So for me, Normal is about right.

I've probably rolled 16-20 characters by now - then I save at the tutorial campfire (berry pickin' time) and some days later I just delete it. A few I get to Gilded Vale with, then they sit there for "maybe one day." Still working on the save of the 1st chr. I ever made. I think I've been saying "I'm getting close to finishing" for a week now. Although this time I think I really am getting close. Really!

Pathing AI really does give one a giggle sometimes. (in case it's not obvious, everyone could go around, but instead they're all jittering behind each other...)

Money
LadyCrimson replied to Raz415's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
At least you don't end the game with 11million or something. ...I've occasionally used extra cash to just check out store items, use them in a few fights, even if I know I won't likely use them much overall. But I like knowing whether I might want them on a different playthru. -
Heh, you're correct that I misread your comment. But there's no need to be overly snippity about it. For some reason I read that as "why aren't people voting for Rangers/Paladins." I haven't actually voted and thus can't/didn't see the poll results by default. As to the reason - maybe it's a poll creation limitation, number of options you can put in. I'm not sure what those are. Don't think I've ever made a poll.

I've found Paladins dull as dishwater for my tastes in just about every game ever and haven't seen anything to change my mind in PoE. This isn't to say they aren't effective. Just not my style. Rangers - maybe a melee one someday. Bow type combat always felt OP'd to me in BG1, but I think there could have been a better solution for that over what PoE did. I lost a lot of interest in ranged weapon combat when there was no ammo whatsoever to manage. It feels Diablo-ish. (edit) I give them to my backline for when they're not casting spells, which works well, but don't pay them much mind otherwise.

Voice Over gets cut
LadyCrimson replied to DocDoomII's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I don't know if someone mentioned it already in that other long thread, but what I've noticed in my game is that during the tutorial if you have fast mode on, the npc voices cut out like that at their trigger points. eg, if you have fast mode on and are sneaking, it happens less often or not at all, for me. It's like fast mode walking = triggering/hitting the dialogue/banter spot then moving beyond too fast which causes a skip in audio or some such weird thing. Not saying that's it for everyone, but sure seems to be it for me, at least in the tutorial area (I haven't noticed this issue anywhere else/the rest of the game, however). -
Cannot install 1.0.4
LadyCrimson replied to mightyjules's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I'm guessing GoG would be the one to contact re: issues with their installers. They have their own tech support and forums. -
A few days away from PoE (mostly - I did a few quests and made portraits ) and I feel more inspired to fiddle around with it again. Try different parties through Act1 at least. I do love Act1. It all makes me want to play FO:NV again, however. I feel like headshot sniping stuff. Maybe I'll alternate.

Haven't tried them all (as the Watcher) and I'm not sure I ever will. I have a feeling I'd never be able to play without at least Eder and Aloth...and I like having two fighter types in a party. So far that means I often pick Fighter, because then I'm the other Fighter, and I create/hire a Priest, leaving two slots to cycle people in and out as I choose (or not). I've tried being a Cipher (works well with Eder as tank, seems like) and started one where I was a Rogue, but haven't gotten far in that save yet. I have zero interest in Paladins (for myself or the companion) and little interest in Rangers. Might try a Druid at some point, or maybe making myself the Priest and hiring a 2nd Fighter. Solo...if I ever try this, I have no idea. Lots of ideas out there, but I don't know what might work for me/that I'd like, personally.

A rapier would be nice, thanks, I'll take a peek at that. Hm. Doesn't list locations, if any are specific. It's always possible some are quest rewards. Or just the random-ish. Edit: @Luckman - hm, I've cleared that floor already, I don't remember seeing it. I'll go back and double-check. I do have a bunch of "Fine" sabers in my stash, tho. haha.

That might have been the one in the thread I was thinking of. I like that some cool items are in stores - it's not like you can buy tons of them if you're skipping large swaths of the game (thus not making as much money) and even if you sold everything you still couldn't buy EVERY cool item from every shop. So I think it's to give people playstyle options, as well as be a money-sink.

So in my very first game (1st chr ever made), I found these two special weapons with the property "of draining." One is a stiletto I think, the other a flail. I found the first very early in the game and the flail I either found or bought from a store, I can't remember now. (edit - it leeches a bit o' endurance) But I haven't seen any others and I'm in mid-Act3 maybe - anyone know if there any more with this property, eg a sword or spear etc? I like using them on dual-wielders - they're very handy/helpful/fun, at least on Normal difficulty. ;p

Enchantement bonus limit
LadyCrimson replied to kilobug's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
It's semantics, I know, but it might be more of an oversight than true bug. I haven't run into this problem because I made the assumption that if it says 4 slots, I need to have 4 slots actually currently free for something to work, even if it's "replacing" another enchant. Unfortunately, not everyone is going to assume the same, so I think the other thread on this topic is more correct - that an explanation is missing. Or they can change it to work the other way. -
The Custom Portraits Thread
LadyCrimson replied to Namutree's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
That's the too-made-up look I don't like, I prefer less fantastical faces, and usually ones that look a bit older. One reason I'm having such trouble re: females. I've probably looked at 500 wallpapers and stuff by now, hehe. The 2nd and 4th aren't bad (except for the mohawk, heh). I like serious/scowly expressions. Anyway, I'll look some more at those links later, too. I'll find something. If I get too desperate I can photoshop-wash more famous ppl. -
The Custom Portraits Thread
LadyCrimson replied to Namutree's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Still searching for Asian type portraits that appeal to me. "fantasy Asian warrior" "fantasy Asian sorceress" ...you can imagine where that gets me. Even if not nekkid, it's their faces that are all wrong. I don't want sexpot pouty-lipped, photo-like or anime-based faces. Maybe I should just photoshop a pic of myself. BAH. I did like this generic guy portrait (among others). No idea of the creator/source, one of those wallpapers you find on dozens of sites....dangit, I wish I could draw.
