What you did today
Touchscreen latop is kind of handy occasionally. Like when you forget to plug in the wireless mouse and are too lazy to get up and retrieve it. Another nice day. After another Voice episode will be going for a hike up in the local hills.

Movies you've seen recently
I just couldn't take the naked glowing neon-blue guy seriously. I've read the comic (I read it after I saw the movie, however) and it obviously works much better in that format. In the film it was just goofy most of the time. I did like the movie overall, better than many I suppose.

An old but endless discussion...the Backer Achievement
I get the idea that having a KS one means "completionists" who weren't backers see themselves blocked out of being able to get all achievements, but I haven't heard what getting all of them actually does, if anything. If Steam is giving cards away or something and you can only get one if all Pillar achievements are done, including the KS one, that might seem unfair, but I'm not sure Obsidian has anything to do with that process? If there's nothing like that going on ... then I'm pretty much in the "so?" camp. Don't see that it's something to make a big issue over.

Rorschach basically made The Watchman movie, for me. That guy was great.

Hm. Doesn't seem quite right vs my memory, but the way my memory is these days ... could be it. I'll look into it.

How much $$$ would you like to see spent on voice acting in the sequel?
I liked Eder/Aloth and wouldn't have minded more fully voiced for them. But that's just personal vocal sound preference. The rest were ok/neutral for me. Player-character voices, I can really only take the "stoic" one. If I ever get around to making a full 6-party hired adventurer team, it's going to be All Stoic, All The Time. But in terms of the game as a whole - the amount of VO Pillars had was about right for me - my nitpick comes largely from when VO was "missing" - like in a (single) conversation with a companion and they'd be voiced for several bits then suddenly there was none for a couple bits, then the voice would come back. That's always jarring. So either better planning re: writing the lines and the VO recording session/s or less VO I guess. I'd hate missing out on NPC/companions being voiced (at least, if I was used to them being voiced before, eg if chrs. were brought back in expansions), but if it's always going to feel inconsistent, then I'd probably rather have none.

What are you playing now?
Went back to Path of Exile ... just an hour or so a day. Mostly to item-grind to get chrs and inventories ready for Act4. I'll probably want 300000 orbs of whatever and such due to changes...

What you did today
Watching VoD episodes of The Voice (the blind auditions). Hubby is cracking me up because every time they intro a new singer he points at the screen and says "Grandma just died" or "Lived in their car" or "dad has cancer" or "had to postpone their dream for (something)"... eg, bet on which sob story. I still remember when the 1st season didn't do that sort of thing much. Oh well. I only watch it for the judges anyway. P.S. - I really hate that cable/networks have largely prohibited FF on VoD watching. Makes me want a Tivo. Not quite enough to buy one yet, tho...

- What's on the idiot box Part 4 (or something)
This is exactly how I felt about Daryl on The Walking Dead, until he apparently decided that growing out his hair into a Shaggy-doo and never washing it again was a good thing. Perhaps it keeps the zombies away.- Pictures of your games Part 6
Best/easiest/fastest (non-summoner) caster build (using Scion) I've managed so far (I don't look up/follow any "awesome build guides"). Yet I'm still afraid to go to the last difficulty/don't think I have the motivation for it so I just keep on slowly leveling in Cruel, when I log on for a few. Based on how my lvl-60 Shadow fared, I'm sure that difficulty would chew up my Scion-mage into tiny little pieces too - where you die often enough to make leveling up further problematic. I love the Scion tho...more than the specialized classes.- 1.05 (Beta) Changelog Discussion
Hm, that's interesting. Don't think that would bother me, but I can see why it could feel be a little annoying after one is already used to being able to do it a certain way. Good question/point. It was an option before, iirc (unlimited Stash access). Maybe it's still there?- 1.05 (Beta) Changelog Discussion
Haven't tried the beta ... so can you be more specific? I've often disliked it when stashes have little "ordering" buttons, for example, because I tend to accidentally hit them. Is your dislike related to that or something else entirely? Edit: the overall patch notes sound great to me, tho.- Sawyer on vacation?
There was a post elsewhere that I saw a while back, and someone there replied that based on pics posted to one of his 'net thingies, it appeared he was indeed on vacation. If he was, we all need/deserve time off and I hope he had a fun time. As to his posting habits ... no idea.- Alter forum display mod/software
I recall during my Beth. FO:NV foruming days that there was this program or coding thingie or something that some were using to personally define the way the Beth. fora looked to them. eg, they would change colors, remove background forum images/transparency, etc. Does anyone know what I'm talking about/where/how to find it? My eyes have never loved white text on black background and as I get older it bothers me more and more (hard to focus on words for some reason, no it's not blurry hard to explain). But if I change theme to the default one, then it's the opposite issue (black text on lotsa bright white background). If I set Firefox to use my own colors ("not allow sites to choose") then for some reason I lose all the button image icons etc. ...all I need is black text on a darker grey background.- In progress patch notes for 1.0.5- big buff for Wizards and buff for Ciphers (lol...), a lot of strange nerfs to everything else, couple of fixes.
Ah, ok. Makes sense, thanks. The wording confuzzled me.- GUIDE (Steam): How not to apply/install Patches for Pillars of Eternity.
Yeah, I do the copy entire game folder elsewhere thing sometimes ... it's just a pita if a game is patched a lot and you end up with 10 different versions...heh. As to Steam - yes it doesn't download the patch at all if you have that setting checked. That wasn't my point. The point was if you go back offline, some games will not run, afterwards until you DO patch it. I haven't tested Pillars so it's possible it will start even if not patched when you go online. Like I said, some games may/will. But I've had plenty of Steam-games where they would not, once you went online/then offline again. So if you want to be sure, do the backup copy of the game route the first time you try, just in case.- In progress patch notes for 1.0.5- big buff for Wizards and buff for Ciphers (lol...), a lot of strange nerfs to everything else, couple of fixes.
Anyone care to explain this one to me? I assume you can get minus mechanics via gear or glitches or something?- GUIDE (Steam): How not to apply/install Patches for Pillars of Eternity.
The problem with this is for a lot of people, it doesn't work. As soon as you go Steam-online, even if the patch is not downloaded, Steam knows "a patch is required" and disables being able to play the game until you do patch it. eg, the game won't start (you'll get a "game needs an update!" msg instead). Now, as I've stated in other threads on this topic, this may not apply to/occur with every single Steam game, but it's often enough that relying on the "don't patch" checkbox option as a way not to patch is (still) a crapshoot.- What you did today
Good luck, Calax! ...it's a gorgeous day, which again has me wanting to just lie out in the sun and get a tan. But I won't. I stopped doing that in my late 20's...as a result, very few wrinkles/lines - but a very pale me. But I can sit in the shade, browsing the 'net on a laptop whilst drinking tea. *raises glass* It's a fine life.- The Cats Make Me Happy thread
Wanted new wallpapers so I spent an hour glancing around at what felt like tens of 1000's of supposed cat photo wallpapers and only finding a few that I liked enough to use. Not into "kittens in a basket"/Hallmark card type of stuff, for example. But apparently, in my case at least, there still aren't enough cat pictures on the internet. I did like these for cuteness, tho, if not wallpapers.- I miss mana...
The Cipher's Focus does feel a bit like mana - whereby they have a natural, always-on "mana leech." Having one chr. like that and no other feels a bit odd/imbalanced design wise, but whatever. If you like that type of style, Cipher is the one to pick. I neither miss nor dislike not having "mana." In the end it all achieves the same thing - a limitation on spells cast before renewal of some sort. Instead of running out of mana and drinking pots (or something) you have to rest. What I do miss (in general gaming, not just Pillars) is the eventual powerful mage. It may be better for balance and sometimes makes for better gameplay, no doubt/no argument, but all the mage-gimping over the years sometimes gets kinda boring.- What you did today
Remind me not to have 5 wine coolers in a fairly short time span, ever again. I had forgotten how much bile/indigestion that gives me, hours later. My belly hurts. The day was nice, tho. Got home bit after dark and hubby was still in the garage, apparently taking apart his drill press. His "cat b gone" idea has him spending his days running around to part stores and puttering in the garage, trying to make everything by scratch. eg, he likes to do things like made his own little metal springs by wrapping wire. I don't know if he's ever going to finish the project (and I don't really care), but it's wonderful to see him really involved in something besides the TV. He seems to be having a lot of fun/is happy. Which makes me happy.- What are you playing now?
Noticed Path of Exile now has purchaseable Awakening beta keys (via supporter packs) so I bought a pack, loaded up the beta (separate install), made a lvl 1 guy and started playing. Noticed a waypoint was moved, that the balance for Act1/normal is indeed altered a bit, and that yes, the passive tree now has slots for gems - but not very many can be easily/sensibly reached per chr, seems like. beat up the first Butcher-like partial-boss and quit. ...not sure I'll play the beta more. A peek into it is enough. I'd rather wait until June when I can use my lvl60's to check out Act4, vs. having to start allll over again just to see it in the non-permanent beta. - What's on the idiot box Part 4 (or something)
