Sound Bug
LadyCrimson replied to Greenhill's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
What sound is repeating? There were some reports of endless sound looping, where turning off the tutorials helped some. -
So you can only create 8, hard total? So if you have 8 hanging around in your Stronghold (not with you), you still can't create more? That's interesting, if so. Not that I'd expect an ability to create infinite player-made companions or something, but since you can have 5 in your party (them plus you) I might have liked 10 at least (two full "parties" worth).

Did the quotes (on existing posts) on the forum break for anyone else? The outline boxes are gone.

Dialogue Sound issue glitch
LadyCrimson replied to Niranloh's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
There's actually been reports of this issue ... someone towards the end of the below thread figured out that for the Steam version at least, it can be/may be related to network/router issues, and the developers were able to reproduce that. Might want to check that out. May not be the cause for everyone, however. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/71857-game-constant-freezes-and-voice-delay/page-8 -
Same from me. I was just thinking the other day about how I hadn't seen some members around for a while, too. Today I played a little PoE while half-living on the forums doing forum-y things. Think I need a short break now. Then more PoE later. Maybe my beef jerky will arrive this afternoon too. Too much fun.

Durance insane stats
LadyCrimson replied to Sidushi's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
lol...dem stats. I'd definitely say that's a glitch. Did you try exiting/reloading, or reloading a save from before you took him into the party just to test if it happens consistently etc? -
UI needs some serious work.
LadyCrimson replied to SFJake's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
4:3 scale? That's somewhat unusual these days (on gaming forums anyway). I haven't had any of these issues either, although I did turn down the font scaling a bit because the text felt too large (1080 resolution). Screenshots would definitely be helpful. -
I'm under 5' tall, so for me it's more that my knees get cranky without purposely lowering a desk or using a stepstool (feet don't reach the floor in a standard desk-height deskchair....). Knee-arthritis hasn't improved that either. I have tall armrests and don't get hand/arm issues from desks, it's back/neck. I tend to slouch too much.

I just tested it and the in-game Gamma settings do not seem to alter the map brightness at all. Only the actual gameplay area brightens. If you have a GPU control panel or monitor where you can adjust desktop brightness/gamma settings through those, that might help a bit. Not an ideal solution, I know.

Feedback on game
LadyCrimson replied to Suna's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I like voice acting in games where it's mostly about characters speaking to each other, in short exchanges. Good voice acting can definitely be additive if it's a game designed for voice acting. But there's a reason I personally don't/can't listen to audio-books. -
They don't seem like stuff a lot of backers would write tho, either. I remember some backer npc's showing up in earlier versions of the backer-beta and they were nothing like these soul-reading ones, but don't know for sure.
-
I have the same CPU. Sure it's not the latest i7/most ghz but it's held up very well and I'd consider it to still be a pretty good one. 12GB RAM GTX 590 7200 HDD Win 7 Pro-64 So far runs just fine at a solid 60fps or better. Haven't been in any of the areas that caused fps drops for some in the backer beta yet, tho.
-
Don't know if it'll look the same on other's monitors, but that's what it's like for me. It's not bright and colorful, but perfectly visible. If adjusting gamma in-game doesn't even increase the overall "brightness" of the map image for some, I'd think that was something else, not just the line-of-sight bubble thing. GPU/driver related maybe?
-
In terms of just general brightness (not the spotlight/line of sight effect, which is definitely there), mine's darkish (at default game settings), but still completely visible in the sense I don't feel like it's hard to see. Fair bit brighter than the posted pic anyway. I'm using an IPS monitor - don't know if that would make a difference in how "bright" something is.

I find it hard to do anything related to audio voices+corresponding text, because I can read 1000000x faster than voice actors can speak, and the disharmony of info absorption speed is extremely distracting. So when I want to listen to voices, I can't look at text, or if I want to read, I have to turn voices off.

How to zoom in close?
LadyCrimson replied to Justinian's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Here's the dev. post where he said the zoom command wasn't part of the disable achievements stuff: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/70495-the-range-of-zoom-amount-seems-very-limited/?do=findComment&comment=1569430 As to the typical .ini or .xml files - I don't see one offhand, no. There might be some editable files but I don't know what they are/what their extensions are at the moment. -
How to zoom in close?
LadyCrimson replied to Justinian's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Huh. I guess I have this issue then too. I remember/thought I could zoom more in the backer beta, actually, but the release game, full zoom in is still fairly far away. Just thought maybe they'd changed it (since I haven't been watching any videos). Curious. My understanding, from what others have said, is that opening the console itself does not, but if you use any commands the first require enabling by typing "iroll20s", that will. -
Yeah...you can of course workaround it by never using the "pick up all" and constantly making sure to move stuff to Stash first before picking new stuff up so things don't get auto-Stashed etc, but that feels kind of restrictive to me. I'll probably enable access-anywhere because of that, but that's just me.

Ah. Maybe that's it, I'll check. I could swear the controls menu said F8. Middle-age close-sight strikes again.
