  1. The father character, despite the stupid turn midway through the main quest, was one of my favorite characters in the game. Its a shame they had to use the cliche of .
  2. Meh, F1 didn't have tribals and I can live without 'em.
  3. Shouldn't you play that? I've replayed it about 20 times. Know most of it :/ Seen everything. :/ If could i'd go an make me a game with the same combat and everything, including graphics, but different story and characters so i could play it again :/ or maybe more such games so it'd last longer. :/ I'd highly recommend Anachronox if you have not yet played it. The makers of Anachronox were fans of Chrono Trigger and it has a similar style. Normally I hate JRPG games, but Anachronox (actually American made, but same style) & Chrono Trigger are the exceptions.
  4. Maybe for punishment they should be put behind a glass wall and yelled at for the rest of their lives by drill sargeants about what little worthless ****s they are.
  5. I do think more games should let the player put the pieces together and not spell everything out. Again, thats why Marathon's story is still discussed. The 'big reveal' of the player being . I remember some of the interesting forum chats about plot points in KotOR 2, with people not understanding why this or that happened and long drawn out replys connecting one event or another to this or that coming together to make sense. Its something special when a game can have people come on to a forum and really dig through the story and have little revelations. I just didn't get this 'extra layer' feeling with any of the Fallouts. Atleast, nothing that really made an extra layer stand out.
  6. Perhaps, but those examples are a far cry from the mind blowing revelations in the other games that replays would often bring. Fallout certainly had its 'WOW' moments of discovery the first time (exploring the glow had a real sense of awe and forboding atmosphere), but for me it didn't pack any real amazing revelations in subsequent play throughs (even if it was still a blast to play it again).
  7. Very few games that I've played have a plot that felt like an onion, where every play through would reveal some interesting new detail or understanding of the events and none of the Fallouts had that feeling (to me). The only games that come to mind like that would be Planescape Torment and KotOR 2. While much of KotOR 2's missing plot feeling is obviously thanks to the ending that was hacked to pieces, a lot of this was also due to evil & good playthroughs each revealing bits and pieces you would miss with one play through. AH, and I almost forgot... The Marathon series. Bungie may get a lot of flak for the shallowness of 'generic space marine' Halo series, but their Marathon series had a really amazing storyline that still has people going through every little line of text to dissect it. Back when I had a smash n' toss (cough, macintosh) I had all three games and I never really understood the story. Years later I replayed them and I found it brilliant... hints sprinkled in... plot arc about an advanced AI trying to become a god by escaping the closure of the universe. Really wish Halo had captured the story telling of Marathon.
  8. Rented The Spirit. Based on both critical reviews and average reviews (imdb.com) I'm a totally bat **** crazy nutzoid because this movie has been almost universally slammed for sucking yet... I LIKED IT! Even more so than Sin City. Is there something wrong with me? They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa!! They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa To the funny farm. Where life is beautiful all the time and I'll be happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats and they're coming to take me away, ha-haaa!!!!!
  9. From Killian's link, click on the Hitler Meme link...
  10. Even Hitler is furious about L4D2!
  11. You can play the full game at GameTap. The world is cool, but it got old fast.
  12. Hmm, well maybe it was just masturbation gone wrong. Arg! Couldn't he have just bought some Viagra? This kind of puts a kink in the suicide theory. I mean, you REALLY have to hate yourself if you have to hang your junk along with your neck. I'm guessing this was either some Kung Fu technique gone horribly wrong or some scum bag did this to him.
  13. If the extra time is needed I sure hope Obsidian is given it. Could have made a world of difference to the ending in KotOR 2. I'm still amazed at what they acomplished in the short development period.
  14. If you don't already own them, I would recommend the DLC releases. Though you might want to wait as I've heard that later this year they will all be bundled together. I'd also recommend a mod that slows the levelling.
  15. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1SQ0gbxkNI Like what I see so far.
  16. You know things aren't looking bright when the most exciting thing shown so far is the XBox Arcade line up. http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-09-xbox-live/50078 Well, that and Alan Wake. http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-09-alan-wake/50060
  17. Obsidian do a MMO? No... I'd rather they stick to excellent story driven CRPGs than grindfest poop. The only thing MMOs are good for is generating income that a company can spend on real games (IE WoW generating its own economy so they can pump so of that ka-ching into Diablo 3 & StarCraft 2). Let Obsidian do KotOR 3.
  18. That and sometimes the trailers are better than the actual games themselves.
  19. Finished Fallout 3 with an evil character and all the currently released DLC clocking in at 105 hours. I'm sure there are a few skill books and little things I've missed along the way, but its safe to say I've beaten the game fairly thouroughly. I really wish they had added ending slides to BS, or simply taken the short ending slide from the original ending and moved it to after BS. I ended up I have to say I enjoyed the new quests in BS. I think I'll hold off on a new character until the upcoming two DLCs are released. Currently finishing up Fallout 1. Also playing While not really a computer game, I've been playing some of the Lone Wolf game books from http://www.projectaon.org/en/Main/Books. I had a few of these books as a kid and I loved them at the time. They've all been released for free with the author's blessing and 20 books makes for a pretty epic adventure. A very impressive book reader/stat tracker has been released at http://www.projectaon.org/en/Main/Books but it only covers the first 5 books, while you can continue using software from the first site I linked. Have to do more manual stat tracking as it wasn't as good. Also, after hearing for years and years about how Final Fantasy VII is one of the greatest RPGs of all time I thought I'd finally try it. So far, I'd have to say my favorite thing is the art. Some real impressive backgrounds, art style and imagery. Like pretty much any JRPG I #*$&ing hate the random encounters every 5 feet.
  20. Say what you will about the game, but The Thing had an awesome trailer. This trailer for Terminator Salvation made me want to get it on launch day, but I'm glad I held off and read the reviews. http://www.gametrailers.com/video/launch-t...salvation/49389 Hah, we could do a whole section on awesome trailers for ****ty games. Though, I actually liked The Thing.
  21. What about death by schnoo-schnoo?
  22. This is a bit off topic, but if you haven't done so I highly recommend downloading the music from Fallout 1 & 2 in MP3 format and adding it to the Fallout 3 music folders. I have F3 on both PC and 360 and the music is the thing I miss most about the PC version. I'd stick to PC but I have to turn the gfx down and far worse, game crashes every 15-30 minutes which is hell in a game that takes 105 hours to complete. Unlike Oblivion, I can actually play Fallout 3 without mods and enjoy it.
  23. LOL, I completely missed that encounter first play through. Second playthrough I walk through the alley and end up flying head first into the building across the street. I ended up talking the terrified wastelander into trying to talk some sense into the guy. It didn't go so well.
  24. You should have the option to pull the spear out when you find him. If you take the right path instead of the left and you don't have animal kinship you are basically screwed as you eventually reach the tunnel with two paths that both lead to an enemy who kills you instantly without the spear. Note that I'm talking about a 'dying man' you meet on the road a few sections before the tunnel. I didn't have animal kinship so I couldn't speak to the little creatures in the tunnel.
  25. If their objective with these trailers is to appeal to the Baldur's Gate crowd then I don't think anything could possibly fail as hard as these trailers.
