  1. The game does seem to feature an auto aim, atleast for the SMG/MG weapons which is fairly obvious if you go full auto and watch the tracers. The bullets seem to curve out of the gun towards a target. I don't know if all of the guns have this though and how much the small gun skill effects how much auto aim you get. Unrelated - CrashGirl brought up a good point about flash lights earlier on. Instead of a flashlight though, how about bringing back the flares from Fallout 1? Would especially be cool if the ability to throw certain melee weapons returned and you could hurl the flare at enemies, setting them on fire.
  2. I was going to mention this myself, but then I wondered about the various item/chem tweaks. For instance, if a character uses Buffout, does the player's model suddenly bulk up? Likewise, if a character uses some stat changing outfit should characters physically change from their effect? For that matter will Obsidian be bringing back clothing that effects statistics? Personally I didn't mind it but there were quite a few boos and hisses about it and I wonder what Obs stance on it will be. Be pretty funny if the character face became more and more 'duh' looking as intelligence lowered.
  3. Magic health respawning ruined the series for me. CoD 1 + UO expansion will always be the highlight of the series for me.
  4. I wonder if the gambling skill will make a return. It IS Vegas after all. Its a skill the game can do without, but if any sort of card mini game or slot machines show up I do hope the luck stat plays a part in them.
  5. Bloodlines was a bit of a mess on release... not to mention its much less complex in scope. It has it's moments but I just had more fun with F3.
  6. I agree but Bethesda was probably afraid that removing those elements would infuriate Fallout fans.
  7. Just watched the season 5 finale and it was awesome! Did exactly what a season finale should do... make you loathe that wait till next season to find out what the heck is going on.
  8. Would LOVE to see a 3d engine remake with some tweaks and fixes. Make it so you could type in the currency instead of SLOOOWLY get to 500 caps. Fix the spy in Adytum but no spy issue etc. They could even change all the rules to be more in line with Fallout 3. patiently waiting for riot...
  9. Some of the dumb dialogue I could pass as your character wasn't really saying those exact words. For example, when you reach Megaton and ask the Sheriff if he has seen your father 'a middle aged guy', they couldn't exactly have discriptive text as the dad changed depending on your particular race. Likewise, the infamous Three Dog using your voice comment... I just imagine my character actually said something intelligent... like it was the old Oblivion one word system. Terrible defense of some terrible dialogue but it works for me.
  10. Whats this that Feargus has against the boards?
  11. I probably took Fallout 2 too seriously. I think F1 & F3 hit the right balance between the silliness and seriousness.
  12. http://games.ign.com/articles/981/981284p1.html 12 great human feats accomplished faster than Duke Nukem Forever. Personal favorite: Alexander the great conquered the world in 12 years. "In less than 12 years Alexander became a legend. In the same amount of time Duke Nukem Forever produced no less than 35 screenshots."
  13. Should have just called it the Extra Large Bomb Hurler and avoided 90% of the contraversy. By the way, neat trick. Get the Experimental Mini-Nuke, download the mod that lets you keep the death cam on, jump and fire at your feet. Enjoy flying across the wasteland at 800 feet.
  14. OMG, looking at the design doc, atleast one stage was 0% complete. Epic fail. Still... I would have rather seen Atari fail.
  15. SE7EN: Homicide detectives unable to prevent even a single murder by admitted serial killer, killer gives cop head.
  16. man. you know there's not a single poster on any site i'm familiar with who fits into this strawman category. in fact...if the people who keep saying this weren't so busy defending the game with their arms flailing they'd have the time to actually read the problems many individuals have with the game. SPECIAL, dialogue, C&C. fix these. hasn't a damn thing to do with cloning the original games. idiotic, childish, and aimed at 'sploshun-happy kids at best. 200 years after "the bomb" and people are shooting mini-nukes at each other? great. good one Todd. "violence is ****in' funny!" yeah. good one, Todd. I know what the problems are. The difference is I was able to look past them and find an enjoyable game. If Obsidian wants to build on/fix any of the problems thats fantastic! Just means an already awesome game for me will get an even more awesome sequel (err spinoff?). The reason I 'flail my arms' like the idiotic spaz you must have me pegged for is because from your posts (the ones I have seen anyway) you seem to hate every... little... tiny... particle of the game. That comes off as someone who was planning on hating the game from the start. You couldn't even respond to points about choice... brushing me off like some snooty uppity dealing with a beggar. So... yeah, you certainly seemed to fit into a category. I also suppose you didn't notice all of my posts complaining about various aspects of the game while defending others?
  17. This guy seems pretty accurate with one. Then again I don't know just how much he has modified it. Either way I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end. You can really see it kick in this. LOL, this women unloads full auto and seems to handle it better than the guy above. Wish we could see where her bullets were landing though. Actually, that wasn't a Grease Gun. Thompson... such a cool gun. Both the older fedora wearing gangster model and the WWII model.
  18. Talk about overcompensating!
  19. M3 'Grease Gun' & Thompson were both .45 cal weapons. The M3 was actually based on the design of the British Sten gun and could be modified to fire 9mm rounds. M3 had a fire rate of 500 rpm while the Thompson fired at 700-800 rpm (wwII era). While I haven't fired either (would love to if I could though), I would imagine the M3 would be easier to sustain at full auto with its slower rate of fire. It did weigh about 2 lbs less than the 10 lb Thompson though, and the extra weight of the Thompson may have taken some of the kick.
  20. True, but Fallout's world went on to 2077, before the nuclear holocaust, stuck in the 50s. It doesn't seem that unlikely that a few things, like weapons, might change.
  21. I really liked Bethesda's redesigns on the classic Fallout weapons. This http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/10mm_SMG#Fallout_3 looks like it might actually exist and be functional as opposed to this http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/10mm_SMG clunker.
  22. I've actually changed my stance on this and think that fictional or genericized quasi-futuristic weapons do make more sense for the setting, but I can think of a few real world, 1950s weapons that just belong in Fallout. The M3 Grease gun is one of them. It's junky enough that repairs and replacement parts could conceivably be assembled from wasteland scrap, and all of the cleaning gear is actually built into the gun--the stock becomes a cleaning rod and and oil reservoir is hidden in the grip. Plus it's in this picture: [hide][/hide] My Grandfather fought in that war and used the M3 'Grease Gun'. Knew somebody who shot himself in the foot cleaning one. Never told me any stories about playing 'drop the Korean baby down the well' though.
  23. I think they rather counted on Amata for this, considering the different ways how the quest played out. How many times does one meet the Lyons woman, twice or thrice? Call me sentimental & gullible, but I actually felt bad when Jonas died, and when my character left Amata behind. Probably the first time in any Bethesda game where I felt some genuine attachment to any character. I hadn't expected anything like that from Bethesda before I started the game -- the opening scene of the game was typically brilliant though, right on par with Daggerfall's & Morrowind's. Agreed. I actually really liked Liam Neeson as the father. Its hard for me to be worried in the least about New Vegas. Even if the tweaks are minor, it will be a Obsidian story on top of something I already enjoyed. My ONLY worry is they might actually make it easier than Fallout 3 is already as Obsidian has been prone to rather easy CRPGs. Really though, could they possibly make it easier than Fallout 3?
  24. Yeah, but I was playing a good pc, who went to get the sherriff and wasn't about to shoot anybody. :shrugs: It didn't bother me that Simms got killed. The utter lack of reaction from his townsfolk and even his son was just pretty weak. Personally, I think my pc should have been held rsponsible for getting simms in a position that got him killed and probably run out of town by angry citizens. Or something. Anything, really. The entire "disarm the bomb" quest was stunningly inconsequential. That lack of reaction was also another reason why I HATED the ending
  25. @ CrashGirl: Hey, we can agree to disagree. Atleast you come back with decent arguments and points instead of ignoring me like some sort of for defending Fallout 3. @ Aram: I didn't really mind the Harold quest. You're pretty much told what the outcome will be many years before that outcome comes to pass. I chose not to kill him and managed to convince him to appreciate the company he kept and his role. I found it satisfying but I can see your point.
