Only way I could beat it was by taking the spear from the wounded 'man'. Even then the battle was ridiculously hard and involved multiple saves and loads. It gets MUCH easier as you go though.

Used to love those books. Thought they should make a game out of the series, then I heard they were. Then I heard it was a MMO.

That would have been so awesome if you could have spanked MacReady... have him run off crying. All of you are going to bed tonight without your moss!

Yahtzee should do more fake reviews. The tragedy is that the 'gold at the end of the rainbow' that is Duke Nukem Forever is not actually dead and 3d Realms is still kicking. Here comes another decade and two more engine changes of waiting.

Hah, if you think the kids in Little Lamplight are annoying, don't ever have children of your own. They were absolute little angels compared with the little monster a former coworker used to bring in every freaking day to work.

Talk about being near the bottom of my list of things to 'fix'. Didn't even realize it was impossible to kill them until I came onto a forum and saw people whining about it.

Superman gets his energy from the sun. He flies off to some other planet/star base and no longer has contact with the sun losing his power slowly. Atleast, thats what I remember from reading the comic years ago. As for Batman vs. The Predator, it was actually good. Batman investigates the grisly Predator kills and eventually has a showdown... pretty much the plot of a Batman (investigating crimes, capturing criminal) or Predator (kills a bunch of things until confronted by tough guy hero).

IGN preview of AvP 3 focusing on the Predator. http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/986/986263p1.html Its sounding pretty dang sweet.

I enjoyed Gun too. Actually bothered to hunt down all the secrets/collectables. I can't wait for Rockst*rs upcoming western Red Dead Redemption. The more I read about it the cooler it sounds. Good western games are few and far between. Would anyone recommend Call of Juarez?

So, you want more skills to choose from? I don't have any issue with that. You did say: "I say extend the level cap to a point where it will take a very dedicated player to reach it (like, 100) And then allow the skills themselves to be leveled up to 200-300." Which is why I've been arguing for keeping the level max at 20-30 and skill max at 100. Ack, you are confusing me sir! You were either joking or I'm not getting what you are getting at.
-
Why is 200 arbitrary and 100 isn't? With a max level of 20-30 you're just asking for people to hit that wall, especially in "New Fallout" free-roaming sandbox style. Hitting the level cap is supposed to be for overachievers and grinders! And if you really think raising the value of the skill point tender is going to fix the balance-economy you've got another thing coming. Raise the skill max to 200 and you are going to do one of two things. 1: Double the ability you had previously. Don't want to see this... a skill of 100 is already powerful enough. 2: Halve the effect of the skills. Again... whats the point? If you want to slow the rate of reaching skill max simply lower the points you earn per level up etc. Raising the skill level to 200 is pointless. You can simply prevent hitting the 20-30 cap too soon by lowering xp awards. Just look at NwN 1 vs. NwN 2. Both OCs had max levels of 20. NwN 1 was quite a bit longer but going above level 15 was very difficult. NwN 2 was shorter and you could reach 20 quite a ways before the end. It is all about how much xp you give out.

I'm begging you Obsidian, bring back throwable melee weapons! Simply make the throwing of them tie in with the melee skill, just as the ability to throw grenades is tied in with the explosives skill. You could use the standard attack key to jab with a spear/rock/throwing knife and the block/aim key would instead hurl the weapon. Entering vats mode in close quarters could equal a melee attack while entering at long range would be a thrown attack with a flashing warning at the top that you will throw your weapon at the current range you entered vats.

I still love the original Fallout. Fallout was the first RPG I played, followed shortly by Baldur's Gate and they are both responsible for getting me into the genre. I just find it odd how many of the things people bash F3 for weren't all that great in the original games either. Is it really good C&C to have a Skulz gang member outright attack you if you dare speak to them with no choice and then have the quest bugged to 'take down the skulz gang' after defending yourself from them? Then there was the inability to really deal with Doc Morbid in any sort of role playing sense. Only choice was to blackmail someone in the Hub or outright kill Morbid. Hah, listen to me. You would think Fallout 1 isn't one of my all time favorite games.

They were all imported, rechambered, and sporterized. Oh. I thought they were left over from an invasion or something. WOuldn't there by more m14s and M1's around then imported Chinese weapons? Remember that Fallout is alternate history. Its possible that after WWII the Chinese developed this AK47 look alike variant and decided on that round. Also, the Assault Rifle you find all throughout Fallout 3 appears to be the standard U.S. weapon. The only WWII era weapon appears to be the Chinese Pistol, based on a WWII Mauser pistol.

I say extend the level cap to a point where it will take a very dedicated player to reach it (like, 100) And then allow the skills themselves to be leveled up to 200-300. Arg NO! Thats one change to the skill system from F1's 200 & F2's 300 I love. 100 is a nice round number and raising it to some arbitrary number is just pointless. "How would you rank your firearms ability from 1-100 sir? Well I'd say, 241.6!" 100% should be 100%! Keep it simple... 1-10, 1-100, max level of 20-30. Just reduce how many skill points you earn per level or how many skill books you find.

Uh, you havent played it yet you would be pissed if I told you how great Fallout 3 is because its a different style of RPG? Should feel the same about Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Planescape Torment & the Neverwinter Nights series as they changed the turn based system of D&D. F3 aint perfect, but it is an excellent game. I've been replaying Fallout 1 and I forgot how many quests were bugged and how short the dialogue was.

They appaer to have based the shotgun design on the ppsh-41. Unless the similarity is just a massive coincidence. Why would one base a shotgun design on a submachine gun? Very odd. It annoyed me at first. Then I reminded myself Fallout is alternate history. Its not a stretch to imagine a gun manufacturer might have liked a design of a weapon after WWII and designed a different type of firearm in it's image. I know some modern semi-auto/full-auto shotguns look like assault rifles. Either way, I would have much preferred the original combat shotgun model to the current F3 version. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/City-Killer_Combat_Shotgun Now that is a cool looking shotgun! No idea why they changed it when, for the most part, they stayed very close to the original weapon designs.

AvP 1 was a much scarier and unpredictable game. AvP 2 had a much better story. Hoping this one gets both aspects down, though AvP 1 got the most important part IMHO.

Fallout 3 to get 2 new DLC add-ons

What would that be? After Operation: Anchorage I don't plan on buying anymore Falout 3 DLC for a while. -

http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/983/983990p1.html I've actually enjoyed Operation Anchorage and the Pitt (haven't got to Broken Steel content yet) so I'm looking forward to these two. Sounds like the aliens got tired of having their blasters stolen from the wasteland.

Luckily for me, I'm pretty much fine with that. We already have two examples with KotOR 2 and NwN 2 and while you wouldn't be fooled that these were sequels to the originals, they both featured some interesting tweaks and additions.

I think Cronicler has the best idea about VATS slo-mo. Add a slider in the options menu for how often, if at all, VATS goes into slo-mo. Crit hits only, all the time, never, etc. Another thing I wouldn't mind seeing is the damage you receive in VATS being increased. As it is, you take only about 10% of the damage you normally would while in VATS mode. I tried a mod that made you take 100% and it made the game MUCH more challenging. It wouldn't necessarily have to be 100%, but some sort of increase could reduce the 'cheatiness' of VATS. There could even be some new perks related to VATS reducing the damage you take in the mode. I also remember reading somewhere that Bethesda had considered preventing APs from regenerating during combat, so if you used VATS to take out one of many enemies in the vacinity, you wouldn't be able to regen until you left the area or finished off the others in the area. Wouldn't it be crazy if your enemies could go into VATS mode on YOU? @CrashGirl: You should try sneaking in with a stealth boy and shooting the generator to the Behemoth's cage then watch in the shadows as he gets revenge for his captivity.

What, am I the only one who liked the slow-mo?

I'd love to see both the 'home made junk items into some wild super weapon' schematics return AND the ability to enhance your weapons, or pay for someone else to do it like Fallout 2. It would be nice too, if special weapons/additions actually changed the weapon model. It bugged me when you would find a more powerful or higher clip version of a gun, but it visually appeared identical to the 'standard' versions of the weapon.
