Overall I've been extremely happy with the choices in quests, but I've reached the first quest that I REALLY disliked: Tenpenny Tower.

I'm not trying to make any personal attacks and frankly, you dismissing one of my statements with a 'lol' is pretty damn arrogant for not having played the game. Then again if you had told me that Fallout 3, from the makers of Oblivion, featured tons of roleplay options and some actual consequences to choice before I bought it I probably would have said 'lol' too. I probably was a sucker for getting Fallout 3 considering my expectations were pretty low. I was desperate for a semi decent Fallout RPG. Pretty much blew my mind and expectations away when I realized I was having as much fun as I had with Fallout 2 and in some cases Fallout 1. I think some of the fans of the originals are so furious at Bethesda getting the rights to Fallout 3 (I know I was) that they've reached a point of cynicism that they actually wouldn't be able to enjoy Fallout 3. They ignore the 3+ dialogue options from a stat, skill and perk in a single dialogue option or stare at the dirt and lament that it doesn't look as dirty as it did in Fallout 1.

If Dogmeat is wounded, and ONLY if he is wounded, you get a conversation option to inject him with a stimpak. A cool thing about Dogmeat is that he actually eats organic opponents after a battle to completely heal himself. The con is it doesn't show any sort of eating animation, sometimes enemy body parts just seem to 'pop' for no apparent reason. You will be looking glance at him after a battle, see low health, then the health bar disappears which usually represents he munched down and is healed. Only real time I've had to heal him is if he bites off more than he can chew with a real tough enemy. If I see him going at it with a deathclaw I'll speak to him DURING his fight and give him a stim to help and then try and finish the deathclaw off with a weapon.

I think one of the more intense/imaginative fps games recently has been Peter Jackson's King Kong & Chronicles of Riddick. Movie FPS games that were actually good? Yeah, I was shocked too.
-
First, why haven't you bought MotB yet!? Second, I HAVE played the game, lots. In fact I haven't touched another game since I started with F3. Also, the only negative/moderate review I've seen here has been Starwars'.
-
Agree with Kalniel except for the landscape part. They got it dead on! My charisma was too low for the animal friend perk. Didn't get the mysterious stranger either. I pretty much spent all of my perks and skills making a Doctor/Scientist, choosing perks like entomologist, daddy's boy, comprehension, robotics expert and nerd rage. Entomologist and robotics expert added some cool dialogue options when dealing with certain quests.

Actually, I disagree with Starwars. Its has more roleplaying options than I ever remembered in the previous games with plenty of choice about how to complete the quests. It obviously has references to previous games and factions but it is no worse than what Fallout 2 did with those references and factions. The only big thing I can see to complain about is the transition from top down turn-based combat to real time fps mode and I personally don't mind the transition at all, but it is a matter of taste. It does NOT feel like the elder scrolls with guns. It feels more like the classic Fallouts, Bioware or Black Isle game combined with the full explorable landscape of an elder scrolls game. "Cheers, that's basically the information I was looking for." Or the only information you would accept? The irony is I was prepared to have a similar opinion as Volourn but I actually gave the game a chance. When Fallout 3 was announced, I couldn't think of WORSE developer than Bethesda to develop it. Now I can't imagine any other developer doing a better job.

Found a follower at the Brotherhood of Steel compound. She's absolutely awesome with a minigun in her hand. Just for the hell of it, I punched someone in Megaton and then just stood around the bomb. She shredded every member of Megaton who came running at me.

Small patch has recently been released and fixes (hopefully) a few issues. Can find it at any major download site (Fileplanet etc.) or just go to Bethesda's F3 website and DL it there.

40+ hours in and I'm still really enjoying this game. I do think the leveling is a bit too fast, as I've still only explored less than half of the locations and have only completed a few of the main story quests yet I've reached level 20. I have done a ton of side quests though. The game features some neat results to your actions. Apparently my character has redeemed Three Dog's faith in humanity and he's been talking on the radio about how I'm the 'best last hope for humanity'. Also, with the Moira quests:

The average YouTube comment makes me weep for humanity. I was willing to understand Volourn's hesitation at getting Fallout 3, until he mentioned he thought FOBOS was 'an okayish action game' yet unwilling to touch F3. I think some people can get so full of spite over a company that even a decent game is ruined in their eyes. I've reached a point somewhat like that with the MoW premium module and Atari's delay. The malice at Atari will end up spoiling the experience. Its a shame if people feel that way at Bethesda over Fallout 3 because it really is an awesome game.

Fallout games have never been known for romance. Sex... yeah, but not romance. Fallout 1 had a hooker who would sleep with you first if you rescued her, then if you paid her visiting her later. Also a spiky haired chick working for one of the caravan crews would sleep with a charismatic character. Fallout 2 had a bit where you could sleep with a farmer's daughter (or son if you were so inclined) and were then caught in the sack with her and forced into a shotgun wedding. Sex was also everywhere in Reno. Prostitutes, a porn studio (where you could become a porn star) and you could sleep with the mob bosses' daughter AND wife on the same night. Fallout 3 only has the hooker who sleeps on the bed and some innuendo. Don't really mind. Its not the sex that makes Fallout awesome.

Was a huge fan of his in my teens. Read almost every novel he wrote from Congo, Jurassic Park, Sphere to the Terminal Man. Freaking shame.

I honestly don't think Fallout 2 was a bad game or anything. Its just that I've replayed Fallout 1 MANY times, can totally see myself replaying Fallout 3 again but I only played Fallout 2 once. I think a big reason for that was the cheesiness.

How I handled Burke:

I can't stand most fish, bar salmon, tuna, and shark <sic>. I got a fishbone through my epiglottis, that then got stuck in my throat wall. Two hours of pain every time I swallowed or tried to tell anyone, or turn my head. Bloody awful. *shudders*

Let me just say this straight up, I like FO3... right. The Animations in FO3 are down right bloody ****! They're absolutely CACK! That's not just a matter of opinion, it's all really poor animation, the only time anything begins to look good is when the physics takes over for a corpse... Walk cycles, reloads, the whole lot, absolute amatur tripe. I still think the game is awesome mind, but the idea anyone could actually comment on the animation scares me... And don't get me started on the rendering, and artwork. Basically the game is "Technically" an absolute turd. I've only been distracted by one bad animation and that is the running forward while strafing left or right animation in which the character continues to play a running forward animation. I can even live with that though, considering NwN 2 isn't much better. When attempting to run forward while strafing it plays a correct animation of the direction, but in a walking animation so your character is shooting along. It really doesn't feel any worse than a lot of other FPS/RPG hybrids and I honestly enjoy the reload/jamming animations both in first and third person.

I'm rather surprised at how high Fallout 2 is scoring. It had a bit too much cheese to score higher than Fallout 1 or even Fallout 3 for me. I mean, a talking radscorpion with glasses? Really?
-
Nope, but if I do I plan on adding Rockin' Robbin to the tunes.

I thought I saw a UFO once, then I realized it was light from the dashboard of my car reflecting in the window.

Ingesting something sharp and then puking up blood n' guts. I think it stems from eating a lot of fish growing up and always worrying about bones in them so I'd spend a ridiculous amount of time chewing to make sure there weren't any bones in the fish. I can watch a lot of horror movies without flinching, but if something happens where someone eats something sharp I get all woozy. As far as common nightmares go, the ground irrationally falling out from under me and snakes. God, I hate the nightmare where I'm trapped in bed with snakes slithering all over my body. I'm actually not afraid of snakes while awake. I think the snake dream stems from my father keeping poisonous pet snakes when I was a kid.

I found the special X-Chinese Assault Rifle on the mutilated corpse of somebody called Prime. Its possible his death in my game was bad luck and that the character was supposed to be alive. For all I know he wanders around and got in some fire fight or battle and ended up dying in the diner. Hopefully he wasn't quest related. I also found a special Combat Knife called Occum's Razor, but I'm embarrassed to say I can't recall where I found it.

For repairing, yeah you have to have a duplicate weapon. You can repair special weapons like the Wazer Wifle with Laser Rifle parts and the upgraded Xuangsomething Chinese Assault Rifle with standard Chinese Assault Rifle parts. For extra specials that you make from blueprints, the only way I know of repairing them is to find a shop keep and pay for repairs or make a whole new weapon and combine the parts. By the way, I found a second set of blueprints for the Rock-It Launcher and picking them up gave me the Rock-It Launcher version 2 which seems to pack more of a punch. Anyone know more about upgrading the specials? Simply buy or find the same document again and you will get an upgraded version?

I love that feature! If you keep your weapon repaired it will never have the jamming, but if you let the condition fall to about 25% or less it will start jamming during a reload and you will have to mess with it after every reload. First time I experienced these 'extended reloads' I didn't understand why my character kept pulling out a clip he had just put in or messing with the gun after every reload. Eventually noticed it only happened when I was using a gun in poor condition.

1. I noticed this too. I can understand living in an old war torn dwelling for shelter, but I'd personally move the nasty skeleton out of the place before settling in. 2. I actually love gun accuracy in this game. Remember how I railed against brothers in arms for its lack of accuracy? Well, in this game you can actually see your gun sway in your hand and the bullet roughly goes where the gun is swaying unlike BiA where the gun doesn't sway in the hand and the bullets fly all across the screen. I love how you can get critical hits on a body part without going into vats and even shoot guns out of enemies hands. Can even shoot grenades just as they toss them and have them blow in the enemies face. 3. Didn't really mind the kits... at least the ones I've found so far. They've done a great job of bringing back almost every weapon from Fallout 1 with the exception of spears and throw-able rocks. I do prefer a few F1's versions of weapons. For instance, the sleek black combat shotgun has been replaced with a WWII PPsH combat shotgun (PPsH was a SMG, but someone liked the design of the weapon and made a combat shotgun version in the F3 universe I guess) and I also preferred the original tube rocket launcher to the more futuristic looking one in F3. Personally, I would loved to have seen a plethora of the 'real' guns from Fallout 2 & Tactics like the M3 Grease Gun and Tommy Gun from Reno as well as some of the numerous real world weapons from Fallout Tactics. See no reason why the 'fake' guns and the real guns couldn't coexist. It seems like Beth actually went out of its way to avoid real weapon names. The Mauser Pistol you could get from Gizmo in F1 has been renamed the 'Chinese Pistol' for instance. I've probably mentioned this before but I love some of the little touches with animation. If you get a crippled leg you will see your character limping along in 3rd person camera. Also, the reload animations are very good in third person. You can actually see your character pulling clips out and then putting a new one in then charging/****ing/priming the gun and it matches with the First Person animations.
