  1. Past hour
  2. Few people have heard of? How's that?
  3. Today
  4. It's been six years last week, by the way. A couple of ados: - The carribean theme being a possible factor in underperformance is depressing as hell. I mean, this is the only genre left standing where announcing a product set in the zombie postapocalypse or during WWII would be seen as a risk. Says it all, really. Even if you're barely getting sick of elves&dwarves: Everybody is getting tired of their favourite meal when that is served 24/7. Unless they're a weirdo. In which case: great genre. Bad target audience. - Currently playing The Outer Worlds. And whilst that also was a semi-budgeted affair, it is remarkable how much more it relies on cheap tricks to stretch its playing time. Currently exploring Monarch, and that almost feels like Owlcat Games. You know: Having spaces and then bombarding them with paste&copy mobs for you to mow down over and over and over again. I know that Josh took the criticism as to PoE1 to heart and made his designers encourage to actually think of a REASON when putting combat into their design. Like: "Okay, why do you put those enemies there?" "They are meant to introduce the fauna of this place." But still remarkable. Mind you, these games are and always will be murder hobo sims. But killing less than 1,000 enemies over a 40-50 hours campaign is still pretty low end for this type. That's ~20 kills per hour on average. If Owlcat Games would have stats like these, there would be an integer error and the counter would re-start at zero at some point. Also, whilst the main quest is a bit conflicted/meh, Deadfire to me firlmy remains the most polished of all the major crowdfunded RPGs. At release, it was much too easy, admittedly. But that's been overhauled. It also remains the only one I've completed I think thrice. One time immediately after having finished it, just to try something out. As the main quest isn't a LOTR kind of epic done on a budget (and neither stretched to be such, see second point/paragraph), that is actually viable to do. Deadfire is also one I'll be getting back to the in the future. And that precisely because of its setting and atmosphere. The moment where you are finished with your starting island and get your first ship to set off to adventure land -- that's the one making the game to me. It's like Monkey Island -- except in an RPG. Dwarves&elves my ass! I can get them from 9.99 out of 10 RPGs anyway. Deadfire indeed was good.
  5. I absolutely want those collection bragging rights lmao
  6. Croatias song was a bit of a banger, but I really love Rammstein so I'm definetly biased
  7. It would certainly be an interesting fight. One thing I always loved about BG were those rival adventuring groups - a very different tactical challenge than monsters. Maybe this could be modded back in and become the "Chosen of Cyric" of PoE. Ah, one can always dream.
  8. Yesterday
  9. i play on xbox x and i get kicked out of the game and had to start over where i left off it did it 5 times and i have to keep doing the same thing over and over and over again
  10. Update on chest placement - there’s no problem placing chests next to each other if they’re not sitting on a half floor, but if I try placing one where two half floors meet, it suddenly becomes obstructed. Tested it with full floors, not a problem. It’s only happening when two half floors meet.
  11. I’m one of the latest updates something changed with objects like chests that makes them irritating to place. I like to use half floors as shelves to keep my chests out of the way, but now even when there’s more than enough space for two chests I can only place one, the other constantly saying it he location is obstructed when there’s nothing in its way.
  12. Technically a promotion for Shoigu since he's going from implementing policy to setting it, at least in theory. Practically... it probably is a promotion. Patrushev is one of the biggest influences on Putin few people have heard of and very highly trusted. Apart from chairing the security council for 16 years he was Putin's* first appointee to the head of the FSB- and Putin's replacement there. If he weren't Putin's age he'd be a solid contender for a designated successor. Anyone replacing him is going to be similarly trusted. Only caveat is if Patrushev's new unannounced position supercedes the security council head in some way, which it might. *technically Yeltsin appointed him, but that was late stage 'may have had some blood in his alcohol stream' Yeltsin where Putin was running everything.
  13. Shuffling around, not sure if that's a promotion or what. Wonder what Surovikin is up to, last I'd heard he left Africa to go home via jet, heh
  14. Looks like Shoigu not attending the inauguration had really deeper background in the end. Putin has “recommended” new minister of defense to take Shoigu’s place. https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2024/05/12/7455460/
  15. im currently 300+ hours in this game, and I LOVE IT. there is just one issue. ash cement. the charcoal takes forever to respawn, so the only other option is duping. im not NG+ yet, so the best option to farm raw science are raids (waft emitter). there are 3 very attractive ´factions´. Black widows (a very low amount of items, are used to summon), ominent (a medium amount of spawn-items) and wolf spider (a pretty high amount of spawn-items). In the end i decided to go for Wolf spiders, since the O.R.C. thingies are annoying to farm and black widows are just way too strong. BUT, for some reason you can only use spider fangs to summon them, while spider venom does´nt work. the super spider venom works for the black widows, so why shouldnt the normal venom work for wolf spiders?
  16. Well, they don't necessarily have to "take" the city. They just need to encircle it and then lay seige to it. They themselves are going to realize that if the point is to trade it away, then it makes no sense to expend the kind of resources it would take from them to capture the city. But it also keeps open the possibility that the Ukrainian defenses in the city simply collapse. Forcing the Ukrainian side to accept defeat/surrender on Russia's terms is ultimately the end-game for Russia. Their first strategy to accomplish this end-game was to try and take a huge swath of Ukraine, essentially all of Ukraine east of and including Kiev, and force surrender in this way. That did not work. Their second strategy was to try and coerce the Ukrainian side by threatening to escalate to the use of tactical nukes. That also didn't work, mainly because of the external pressure on the Russians, including even from their friends. Now this is their third plan for coercing Ukraine's surrender, born from their battlefield succeses in eastern Ukraine recently. And this plan is the one that has a really good chance of succeeding, especially because Ukraine's Western allies are "going wobbly" (to use a line from Thatcher back in the day), and because within Ukraine itself we now have political differences over war strategy and Zelenskiy is no longer seen as Superman.
  17. There is no Light. It is an action-adventure. There are several paths to follow from the start, but they seem to be rather linear. I think, I have finished 1 out of 4 main paths. So far, I have turned off the music (at one point, it switched to rock, which, while nice, was not appropriate for actually trying to fight off the ambush) and tried to switch the difficulty to the easier one (I cannot tell if I have succeeded). The visual style is beautiful and expressive (pixel art), the controls are rebindable, and the bosses have been quite diverse and challenging*. There is a karma system, and I assume that it should go up. Which it does from picking the "correct" answers in dialogues and completing side quests (somehow, telling a pilgrim that their god was not testing their faith by murdering them was bad, while telling a random settler not to report on his brother being a rebel was good). The setting seems to be post-apocalyptic and dystopian - the population lives in the underground train network, but there is also magic, with the protagonist's current patron being some soft of murder god. I like the combat system in general, but not its combination with the encounter design and level layout. The actions are mostly quite responsive, but when there are several foes with different attack states (can or cannot be interrupted) gathered around, it gets very chaotic, considering the speed. I have not found a way to upgrade the HP and the health-restoring consumables are limited, while the weapon upgrades do not directly increase the damage per hit. Though, there are several weapons, which seem to be unlocked by defeating main bosses. In terms of level structure, it is not a Metroidvania - after choosing one of the paths, the progression is mostly linear with short side paths which may or may not lead to something (was not worth it so far). Nor there are any traversal abilities to unlock. The levels are rather difficult to navigate and for the areas outside of the main hub, there are no maps. Occasionally, the level borders appear only after you reach them. I will try to finish the game. *died several times to the second one before noticing that the thing was counter-attacking. Nothing before had been doing so and there was no indication that the boss was parrying me (aside from my HP going down).
  18. There is no Light The game was insulting me. Ironically, the difficulty does not seem to affect the bosses. An escort side quest. Just as planned. The second boss. It took me several tries to notice that he was killing me by counter-attacking. The MC continues being unlucky in the cut-scenes. I guess, domestic violence is not unrealistic, but kind of dark for a passing line. Then again, the setting seems to be grimdark. Not a clue what it was or why it was there already dead. Reminds of WH40K. The Messiah. The butterfly lied - the children were in a no-combat zone. Speaking of, Samedi feels less irritating than Issun was, which might be mostly because he appears less frequently. Still would have preferred him being quiet, but there are worse chatty sidekicks.

  20. Hi, I peeped every creature except the red baby ant in my first playthrough. I then had to go into NG+ to get it, so went through and peeped it but the achievement did not unlock. My assumption is that this is due to peeping my missing card in NG+ and it's not taking into account the cards from my first playthrough. I just wanted to check if this was a bug or intended? I can't attach a screenshot of my creature cards or my save (due to size) but I have every card (8/8, 48/48 & 15/15). I am logged into Xbox and am not in a custom game. I peeped the red baby any about a week ago and have played daily. Thanks DxDiag.txt

  22. I have a bit of a problem with the ant baby pets. They need to have their ability to collide with the player and any loot that ends up on the ground due to manually dropping or for having a full inventory. I've had the baby ant kill me on dozens of occasions now because it collides with my character and moves me or prevents me from moving mid fight. It has also pushed me off of stairways I built and fallen to my death dozens of times as well since the collisions not only push my character but lift me off the ground as well, canceling out any attempt to jump back to the ramp before I fully get pushed off. I've also lost dozens of materials and trinkets due to the legs of the baby ant walking over the items and launching them into to orbit where I have no idea where they go. The legs of the ants also launch building material like stems and grass planks when walked on. The easiest way, at least to me, to see this getting fixed is simply removing all forms of collisions from the baby ants do they simply phase through any item or player. On a side note a believe professor Tully needs to have his ai changed to not move infront of the character at any point so we don't accidentally click on his dialog while exploring or looting or when he just randomly decides to float directly infront of the players view over and over again.
  24. Can you add a button to the trashcan for mass deleting items so we don't have to spend 15 minutes deleting items like extra webs and fangs form black widow raids. Or at least make it to where we can delete the bags of dropped bug parts. That would save lots of time deleting excess items.
