  2. Cronos (1992) - Remastered I think you can sort of file this in the same category as the Midnight Mass miniseries as a world where vampire fiction doesn't exist. Also it takes place during Christmas and New Year's, so I guess it's a holiday thing just like Midnight Mass. Anyways, I enjoyed it quite a lot. The scenes of the Chronos device remind me quite a lot of Lynch's Eraserhead sequences, and you can hear Lynch's influence throughout the film. It's very much a Del Torro film throughout, and you can see clearly how this is the guy who would go on to make Pan's Labyrinth and Hellboy.

  4. Wolfwalkers (2020). I'd only heard great things about it, but... It is a gorgeous film, but it was difficult to fully recover from the painful first ~20 minutes. Most every scene felt like it was lingering or outright repeating a few beats too many, I was getting genuinely kinda mad at how poorly edited this felt and how reducing the film by even just...five, maybe ten minutes by chopping off a few seconds from each scene would've helped it feel so much punchier. The script also has a strange way of feeling too kiddie and too adult at the same time, like it can't really quite make up its mind what kind of tone it should have, and I found that...uh, a little weird and off-putting. It could've been great, but I guess it's just one of those movies where a series of seemingly small issues keeps taking you out of it, try as you might. Oh well. As far as wolf movies go, I liked Princess Mononoke better, and I still don't much like Princess Mononoke despite having seen it four(?) times, so...
  5. You still didn't understood my point. Isekai can be interesting as longs the world is interesting. a "op mc" regardless of gender going into Athas - Dark Sun, Warhammer 40k verse, or etc would be much, much better than the typical medieval high fantasy cringefest. But I do agree that animes with female MCs tends to be better. Even magical ones, see Slayers and Frieren.
  6. Since investigation and inquiry is one of the functions of Congress, one wonders whether the DoJ should have been placed under the legislative branch (but allow the President to select the leader)?
  7. BG3 doesn't split XP, you're on the same levelling curve whether solo or with a party of six and XP is synced such that any party member with less XP than your main character will be brought up to match them. Note this doesn't work in the reverse, so it's possible to get companions that are higher level than the player character (though this is only really likely to be seen when speedrunning). For the most part, it also attempts to prevent double-dipping on XP, in that if you kill an enemy after talking your way past them, they won't award any kill XP. Yeah, this catches out a few people and is a bit of a silly outcome. I think it's an engine limitation - enemies can't go through zone transitions so the ones outside can never reinforce the ones inside and vice versa. That limitation also means the optimal solution is to fast travel out from the indoor area so you can engage the outdoor ones from a safer distance. (It's also a bit dumb that two of the leaders can be assassinated properly with the camp remaining neutral, but one just sets an unavoidable faction-wide aggro flag) Speaking of engine limitations, the text-only "books" in the game are a pretty glaring one. The system doesn't support graphics so even if you're looking at a map or a drawing, you just get text saying stuff like "this is a map showing an X nearby". The D:OS engine has done good service over the years and has seen some nice upgrades, but it's time for Larian to move on.
  8. I can't reach the top of the food cart anymore? Is this cause there's some sort of ceiling now?
  9. I’ve had better luck using firmer, less juicy apples for apple slaw - things like Granny Smith, Pink Lady, or even Braeburn. They hold up a lot better to a fine julienne and don’t turn watery as fast, especially when you’re not hand-cutting. Also, if the julienne tool is doing most of the work (no judgment - I’m in the same boat), sometimes switching to a sharp Y-style peeler for thin strips instead of true matchsticks helps keep the texture lighter and more consistent. I’ve been using something along the lines of this one https://www.allpointsfps.com/75932-6-one-half-in-y-peeler-winco/ . Lately, and it’s been surprisingly useful for slaw-style cuts without crushing softer fruit. As for the kids and pulled pork - I’ve noticed the same thing. A lot of pre-teens seem to prefer simpler, cleaner flavors and textures, while pulled pork (especially if it’s smoky or sauced) reads as “too much” for them. More for the adults, I guess.
  10. My bad, the "z" key was still bound as an alternative key to the inhaler, be sure to check that.
  11. I still have that problem, it's been reported for a month and a half, how can I fix it? is there a mod?
  12. Still looking for something to fill the gap between Dandadan season 2 ending and Frieren season 2 starting. Watched the first three episodes of Dusk beyond the end of the world. Not sure of the genre, but interesting so far. Gives me old Belgian comics vibes edit: I did enjoy secrets of the silent witch. Also obvious why it’s nickname is Bocchi the Witch
  13. Same I just reported this also This is massively game breaking and should be fixed as soon as possible. I'm amazed the game came out with this even being possible.
  14. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cr4345k05z3o Royal Navy ships to be equipped laser batteries by 2027. Tests at the Hebrides show great efficiency at shooting down high speed drones
  15. But that's a problem isnt it, the reality that the DOJ becomes politicized It needs to be independent of political influence, its suppose to be independent. Thats how Justice departments in any Democracy are suppose to function In South Africa we call it the NPA (national prosecution authority ) and during the years of state capture from about 2013-2017 we had no prosecutions of political wrongdoing and we went through the worst corruption in the public sector we have ever seen because there was no system of accountability or consequence
  16. Tempted to buy/try "Date Everything!" since it's designed by VA Ray Chase (he co-founded SassyChapGames with Robbie Daymond and Max Mittleman) and voiced by a plethora of VA's/actors, but the game itself - not sure I'd like it. I have liked, say, some otome's if they have a good/fun story but this comedy (?) dating sim looks a bit too absurd or overwhelming (100 dateables seems too many) for me. Although perhaps the silly would be the charm. But I wishlisted it - maybe I'll be in the mood for silly one late night. So for the moment I still stick with an hour or two of more Teddy's Heaven shop-keeping once in a while as a midnight-chaser. Although in a couple weeks I'll probably try 7 Days, 2.5. Maybe. Jars are apparently (mostly) back, which I don't care about - but other things they've changed, I might.
  17. Rob Reiner and his wife. Stabbed, so sayeth TMZ
  18. Last round of hubby's back stuff: so far, 4+ days after hospital visit, no result. It's the last non-surgical attempt (injections in various specific spine/vertebrae locations to target specific things), before they decide that nerve surgery is the only option. This last one surprised him by causing leg pain/numbess in one leg. He could barely walk to the car. Spinal nerve connections and all (not uncommon with this shot location, I guess). It went away/leg was fine after a day tho.
  19. The invisible chemical in the air that could be raising Parkinson’s risk For a long time they tried to link Parkinson's to genetics, but now it's looking like a commonly used chemical agent (TCE) may be the culprit. My Mum had Parkinson's, so perhaps she was exposed at some point? It's in some paint thinners, cleaning, and has been employed as an anaesthetic. Just living in areas with higher TCE in the environment increases your risk.
  20. A new Kotor type game might be interesting. Let's see - "maybe" 2030? I'll be, what, 63ish (or 62ish?)? By then I might even have built a new PC! Most of those trailers do nothing for me, as usual. All I do anymore is look at the $20-$40 indie/small dev types where I feel I can still find games with gameplay mechanics I actually like. I'm beginning to loosen my notion of wanting to wait/how long to wait re: early-access. If it's cheap enough, screw it. I'll go back to the "if I initially get 30-50+ hrs out of it, good enough" mentality.
  21. Hi everyone, I’m a systems-focused RPG designer working on a small, contained RPG concept built around player agency erosion through mechanics rather than overt narrative framing. The project explores a progression system where gaining foresight and efficiency makes the player more effective, but subtly less self-directed. It’s intentionally scoped as a focused first entry rather than a franchise pitch. I’m not looking for feedback or pitching directly here — I mainly wanted to ask whether there’s an appropriate context or channel for sharing a brief, high-level concept overview in the future, or if this is something best left to industry events and networking. Appreciate the space, and thanks for reading.
  22. The DoJ has long been politicized by the Republicans. The main difference is it is the Dems who are being blamed this time; the Pubs don't like it when the shoe is on the other foot.
  23. I liked Uncle from Another World as a pisstake (and DIO) but for the most part the only entertainment I get from Isekai is from the ridiculous names, like "I'm the villainess so I'm taming the final boss".
  24. You already lost me here. - Someone who doesn't watch anime with male protagonists because of how awful they and their animes are in 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of cases that was exactly 99 "9"s for my sig figs, for the record, i was doing a thing
