But who argued about subjectivity anyway?

Gromnir did. is the point.

So you're answering my post and try to argue about something I didn't even talk about?

Like *zoom* right over my head?

lordy.  is genuine tough to tell if you is this obtuse or is acting for effect.  stubborn horse is gonna die o' thirst 'fore we can get him to see the water at his hooves, eh?

you did indeed "talk about"/question/mock the genesis poster's approbation. is Gromnir who observed how pointless were such a critique given the complete subjectivity o' the genesis poster's praise. duh. subjectivity were an essential quality from the start and there never were a question as to who first mentioned subjectivity.

but as is usual, we have hit fatigue point trying to illuminate what should be obvious. will once again leave you at the edge o' the water.

HA! Good Fun!

Am I the only one that has the feeling that master guardian and sonic mage are the same person? Something about the writing style... Or did you choose to ignore that and I am spoiling the fun with this post? Or am I just paranoid, because I spent too much time on facebook?

Anyway: I never tried carrot pie. I didn't even know that it's a thing. Should I try?

Probably, I'm convinced SM wants to be a forum mascot.

or, while he believes the "casting system," problems is noteworthy, for him/her, such problems is not significant enough to serious detract from an otherwise "epic" game.  does genesis poster otherwise enjoy tactical combat and character development choices, and dialogue checks and aesthetics and ship mini game and _____ and ______, and whatever such that casting system is an otherwise minor blip in an "epic" game?

or...

whatever.  best not to project.  am personal not even knowing what is meant by casting system, and am not knowing what it takes to be 'epic, neither. is the "casting system" a reference to vancian v. deadfire's take on per encounter? something else? lengthier relative  casting times + interrupt/concentration + retarget features, etc. as what is meant by "casting system"? both. neither.

am sure not gonna get all judgey and preachy particular w/o knowing what is intended.  even then we wouldn't get all judgey and preachy as this is one o' those pure subjective, "i like pie" posts.  am sure not gonna try and convince somebody they do not like the pie... even if cake is objective better.

HA! Good Fun!

ps 'cause is the kinda thing we actual need say on this board, the cake bit were joking.  although cake is superior.

Exactly!

Cake is better than pie. It takes some effort to say tastes are subjective, yada yada, when you know one side is obviously right, even if taste is subjective.

Hmph. Pie.

Lies.  Cheesecake, despite the name, is technically pie and cheesecake >>> all.

and again all the pointless negativity

alot of other threads ive had a look at like this aswell

OK, just in case you are not sonic mage: Nothing against your post. It just seemed to me that it was a forward pass (Can I say that in english?) for sonic.

If you say you don't like the casting system and wish to discuss that, maybe you shouldn't ask others why they don't like it. Maybe you should start by telling us which changes you didn't like and why.

I'm here, did you need something?

If you're that curious, you could ask a moderator/administrator do an ip check. But yeah, totally legit similarities in writing styles. Anyone who asks about negativity on the forums or makes themselves out to be a victim is me, just wanted to clear that up ;)

Edit: Oh crap... wrong backer account!! SHOOT

Being compared to me is a great honor so take it as a compliment :)

However, if it a joke and/or of mockery, it was in poor taste. You are about the 30th account I've been compared to, yep... another notch on the belt!

On a more serious note, welcome to the forums. Most new members don't make it past 20 posts so, hopefully you don't get turned off and stick around.

Just what do you think you're doing?! You dare to come between me and my prey? Is it a habit of yours to scurry about, getting in the way and causing bother?

What are you still bothering me for? I'm a Knight. I'm not interested in your childish games. I need my rest.

Begone! Lest I draw my nail...

A few gentle reminders seem in order.

This is not the 'who is an alt?' forum. We ask that you discuss one another's ideas not each other in this forum.

If you wish to have discussions, you must be willing to accept that others may like/dislike things in ways you don't. Disagreement isn't a bad thing. Harassing someone because they hold an opinion you don't agree with is.

There is no logical inconsistency in being excited for something even if you have reservations about some aspect of that thing. Excitement is subjective.

We're all here to have fun, not win an argument.

As a final footnote, the moderation team tries to be as unobtrusive as possible. Do not mistake this with being inactive. As always if you have an issue, report it to us. The team will review and take the steps deemed necessary to address any issues that break the forum rules.

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

That's not what I meant. I just made a suggestion how to start the discussion. If you say that you where confused by the casting system and want other peoples opinion, you could make the first move and tell people what confused you and if they made similar experiences. If noone knows what you are talking about, you won't get a useful response.

So: What was your problem with the new casting system? And for those who didn't play the beta (like me): In which way is it different. All that I know is, that per rest is gone.

And for those who didn't play the beta (like me): In which way is it different. All that I know is, that per rest is gone.

1) per rest is gone, which means you can spam spells in every fight, however, you are limited to casting 2 spells per spell level.

2) to compensate, now spells take time to cast. For example, in current build it takes 6 seconds to cast fireball.

3) in addition to that you can only learn spells when you level up. Wizards get grimoires which can expand their repertoire up to extra 2 spells per level but you can’t edit grimoires, so it’s very likely that one grimoire will contain spells which you already know or can’t cast due to subclass restrictions limiting its usefulness. Druids&Priest gain free extra spell every power level based on their subclass. (Personal note: small selection of spells makes singleclass spellcasters feel very restricted. It is confirmed that singleclass characters will get an addition talents [spells] to pick, when reaching new power level, however, there will be passives to consider as well)

4) new armour/penetration system applies to spells as well, so it’s possible to spend couple seconds casting spell, only to see multiple NO PEN messages and do a fraction of base damage, though it is not nearly as bad, as it was in beta1.

5) in current beta build (though it is likely to be changed for 1.0 release, if Josh’s Tumblr posts are to be trusted) strength governs weapon damage, while healing&magic damage has been moved to resolve. That makes spellcasters less flexible in combat and encourages either a specialised weapon build, or constant casting.

thanks for spelling that out in plain english.

What a royal Fup from Obsidian to implement this.  By doing this they have really lowered the strategic capability of the game.....e.g less options available for casters.

Are they sticking with these changes or are they possibly bringing back the old system because of neagtive feedback on the BETA?

looks like casters go a huge nerf. I think the martial classes will end up being far more powerful then the casters
