Can anyone tell me please.

 

Can I skip all naval "strategy minigames" while playing PoE2?

 or

Do I have to survive naval fight every single time when I travel somewhere?

I don't know about ALL ship battles because I don't think it has been stated anywhere.

 

When you engage in a ship battle the first option is to fight or run. Haven't tried it but the run option should take you out of the minigame. From what I've heard and read I believe the intent is for it to be optional and Josh has said that you should be able to complete the game with just the starter ship, which probably means avoiding ship combat by avoiding ships on the world map and/or flying false colours.

It's been confirmed that naval fights and ship/crew management are largely optional content. Yes, you will still have a ship with which to move around, but you aren't *forced* to upgrade your ship to a larger one or hire and manage a crew for it (from my understanding your party companions ought to be enough for the Defiant, which is the ship you start off with), and if you don't like the scripted naval combat system you can always skip straight to deck-on-deck fighting as well.

In the beta you can also just not steer your ship into the other one on the world map but simply steer around it.

 

However, the annoying resource managing for ship and crew (morale and food and water and stuff) was always present when sailing around. Can't say if you can switch that off.

Can you not just delegate resource management to an underling?

 

Pay someone a salary to do the tedious administration and logistical work. I hope this ship turns out more interesting than it is sounding.......!

I don't like that stuff in the beta as it is now, but it may well be that others see it differently. It's not bad per se or so.

 

Josh said they took inspiration from Faster than Light. Now I love FTL and played it a lot - but I can't see what inspirations they might have used and where those went...

 

Another question is: although I love FTL, would I want it inside of an RPG? My answer would be "Probably not". ;)

You just can't please people, can you? :D In Pillars 1 the complaint was that you couldn't do much/not enough with the stronghold Caed Nua, now they tried to expand upon that by adding that whole gameplay for your stronghold/Ship and... :D

Well, I'd like more quests related to the stronghold (whatever that stronghold may be) if anything. Not a resource management game (combat seemingly optional, the resource part seems not to be).

I think best way (for me) is just simple option in config menu where you can turn naval minigames ON or OFF.

 

I'm not happy with food/drink management and money spending to ship crew.

Maybe buying a ship should be completely optional. If you want to travel around you have to buy a ticket and get on a ferry or whatever.

 

Well it's all too late now, just have to hope for the best!

It's totally ok for me that they put this in. It would just be nice if I could skip it. If not, I will deal with it. :)

Eveyone has their preferences. Many people dislike Invisible Inc. for its alarm system, while it is the best thing that happened to stealth games for a long time. I am very much looking forward to the ship system, while for others it is not something they want to deal with.

I mean, fair enough, but every game has elements that people like and they don't and you can't always pick and choose what you do. It seems like it's fairly easy to minimize the use of the naval stuff while it'll take some effort to avoid it entirely.

I'm kinda worried on the resource management for the ship as it depletes when exploring. I'm looking forward for an RPG with awesome real time with pause combat not some ship and piracy simulation. That feature should be a great add on and not so much a tedium and annoyance. I've read many feedbacks about it and i'm kinda worried about it already.

Hopefully there will be a reputation change for PCs that repeatedly skip ship-to-ship combat. Guards should mutter under their breath as you approach, then snicker after you've passed. :p

In the beta, you have no choice but to have a nearly full crew of 13(?) sailors on a medium sized ship.  While it is a feature not present in the current beta, I suspect that you will be able to substantially mitigate the resource management side of exploration by running your ship with fewer sailors, using a smaller ship, or both.

There would be if my characters didn't sneak in through the back window to avoid that confrontation.

Apparently naval combat is a side feature, and cost of explorations isn't nearly as bad as some make it bad to be. In order to confirm complains about the cost of food and upkeep of your crew I decided to not spawn more money in my current playthrough. For 2000 I bought enough food and water to explore the entire beta, and it is a fully staffed ship, My guess is that people who complained that they bought lots of food and run out of it forgot to move it into a consumption que in ship management view.

You hate pirates (not even pirates, sailors, nothing forcing you to be a pirate) and/or ships soooooo much that you just can't bear the thought of participating in it?  You hate fun or something?

If I'm looking for pirate/ship RTS game I will purchase game with this content.

If I'm looking for game like BG, IWD, POE, I hate deal with RTS.

 

I think make these minigames optional is good way for everyone. Or not?

I'm actually looking forward to it. I played FTL for over 100 hours. :D

I played FTL for over 400 hours - and the stuff in Deadfire is nothing, really nothing like it. It doesn't have to be, but claiming it is sounds just silly.
