ShadySands Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 I dunno, I'm kinda glad that judges can step in even if I don't always agree with them. I think for me it's because we don't directly vote on anything at the federal level except our representatives who can then do whatever they want once elected. I know we can choose not to reelect them but that's after 2/4/6 years as I don't think we have a federal recall. I guess I just view it as an extra check. 3 Free games updated 3/4/21
Hurlshort Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 It's also just a waste of time. We have a vetting process in place already. This whole extreme vetting thing is just silly posturing. Where is the evidence that this will do anything to increase security?
Malcador Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 (edited) and there I thought judges should be apolitical - sarcasm I dunno, definitely is room for doubt that the judge's not (people bringing the complaint probably are) given the nature of the executive order (the nice salting of Chad, Venezuela and DPRK, for example) and its origin. Anyway, the ruling is here for anyone that is curious http://www.politico.com/f/?id=0000015f-2bab-d519-a57f-7fabf1450002 Edited October 17, 2017 by Malcador Why has elegance found so little following? The US has been caught with it's pants down, the only question is how far down they went. In fact I believe they are still dropping.

Raithe Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 For a fairly easy read explaining the changes occuring in the ACA What it means for you : The administration's "cost sharing" reduction funding cuts "Cuius testiculos habeas, habeas cardia et cerebellum."
Guard Dog Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 We have the three tier plan at work. The coverage is about the same (they are all a PPO plan so you can use just about any doctor you like). The difference is cost, deductible and out of pocket maximum. The nice thing is we have HSA's (health savings accounts, like a 401k but only for health care expenses). If you contribute at least $2k and $3k per year and take the lowest tier plan (with the high deductible and high OOPM) my employer will match dollar for dollar. To me that's a no-brainer. That's a free $3k per year as long as I pitch in $3k per year and I get to keep it in the account whether I use it or not. IMO HSA's thould be THE model for dealing with healthcare costs. Too bad I can't use them at the Vet's office. Believe me, I tried. "While it is true you learn with age, the down side is what you often learn is what a damn fool you were before" Thomas Sowell

redneckdevil Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 So is the Dem governor lying about Trump's phone call to the widow or telling the truth? Also what should be done if found lying?
smjjames Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 So is the Dem governor lying about Trump's phone call to the widow or telling the truth? Also what should be done if found lying? She's a Representative in Florida, not a Governor, and the widow and the widows mother are coroborrating what the Rep. said. I don't see any reason why the widow or her mother would lie about the phone call. 1
Malcador Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 So is the Dem governor lying about Trump's phone call to the widow or telling the truth? Also what should be done if found lying? The congresswoman, you mean. And she is believing the family so if there's any lying it doesn't fall at her feet. Though what should happen even if it did? Guess she can be sued and face other non legal fallout. 1 Why has elegance found so little following? It's entirely possible that Trump got miscontrued or misunderstood by the family and the congresswoman, but he's doubling down and not trying to correct the record.
Malcador Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 Well was a guess at what could happen. Pretty WAG, for sure. My question there was one, not rhetorical. smjjames Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 Sheesh, this guys cant do a single thing right. smh. Yeah, and the whole thing with what happened to the four soldiers in Niger is fast becoming Trump's Benghazi, possibly worse, and his handling of it isn't helping, nor is his inability to admit that he screwed up.

Also as to why the mother would lie (if she is as I would like to give the mother the benefit of the doubt and cast this at the representative feet instead) is that someone important just died, so of course emotions are running high and construing/etc what was said for retaliation/prevention of what happened because ur govt (Democrats) asks u to and says they have ur back. Both parties have done similar things in the past with grieving partners/parents. Plus it is his fault so why not jab at him if it helps get him outta office? It was a phone call so all they have to do is look at the phone records for what was said. But the representative can be sued and lose her position if found she fabricated it? smjjames Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 (edited) It was a phone call so all they have to do is look at the phone records for what was said. Only problem is, there IS no recording of what was said and if the WH has something, they aren't giving it up. I agree that the obvious solution is to look at the phone recording (or transcript or whatever), but as far as we know and has been said, there isn't one. Edited October 19, 2017 by smjjames
redneckdevil Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 Is it because they can't just release it due to privacy issues unless courts are involved? This is the President, all his phone calls are monitored. As much as I dislike Trump, this smells of BS of what he's being accused of saying.
smjjames Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 (edited) I know the calls are monitored when talking to foriegn heads of state/government, but I don't know about instances like this. There were several people in the room, but they sided with Trump and didn't say anything about the specific words. It's certainly possible that he got misunderstood, easily possible with someone as inexperienced as Trump, but there isn't anything physically or legally stopping him from clarifying his words and correcting the record. Instead, he just goes "WRONG!" and battens down the hatches. Clarifying what he said is so ridiculously easy that I don't know why he can't. Oh wait, I know why, he is incapable of admitting he screwed up, yep. Edited October 19, 2017 by smjjames
redneckdevil Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 He is incapable of admitting he's wrong. Also in same light, anything he says will be dissected and/or twisted in a bad light. I'm tired of this Petty childish dickish moves both parties have been pulling for years now. Sadly u can't take anything that's said from either side at face value anymore. We need a miracle and get a "Roosevelt" in office and not say a damn thing and just use a big ass stick to start whupping these politicians asses til they learn (because alot of them have been in office not even knowing how or never seen it happen) they supposed to work TOGETHER for the betterment of us, the people.
smjjames Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 (edited) And all of this, this specific fight anyway, would be solved by some tapes (or other form of record) of that phone call, right? Nevermind the implications that the existence of tapes might bring up. Edited October 19, 2017 by smjjames 1
