People respond to incentives. If you penalize hard work, ambition, and innovation by redistributing the wealth generated by such, and incentivize those who aren't hard working, ambitious, or innovative by giving him the fruits of the others work, you eventually get people who see no point in working. If the society isn't productive and the wealth at the top redistributed to the bottom, you get poverty across the board. So the only options are to enforce work through force, or allow free capitalism.

Perhaps you respond to (material) incentives. Don't assume that everyone does, and don't assume that without them, everyone would turn into a slob overnight. What limited research there is into basic income seems to point in the direction that, in fact, that wouldn't happen to any significant degree.

See, the funny thing about you wrote is that it also perfectly applies to how the current scheme of upwards wealth redistribution by means of runaway debt issuance, is hurting the majority. It doesn't only rob people of material "incentives", it robs them of their very future.

Base income can be supported if the old, redudant beaurocracies and institutions would be consequently abolished, which is most likely to be a much more difficult task.

The problem with PC is that it's used as a means to shut down exchange of ideas and goal is to force the other to submit.

Ben No.3, the reason why it might work where u are is because yal don't HAVE PC. PC is used now incorrectly because it shoves what is considered "right" without seeing the other side, seeing WHY it's there in the first place.

Yal might have gotten to where yal wanted something so different than the past, that yal went the opposite direction. I dunno, everywhere and everyone is different in how they think, morals, and what they consider right. Here we have freedoms, meaning we have the freedom to think and believe and follow what WE want to. To change people here without badgering/etc (from personal experience) is more along the lines of osmosis and respect for differences. The respect for differences is NOT in PC, PC does not respect you for having a different opinion in how it is used now.

Political correctness is already on its way out.

It will be replaced by some other form of social oppression, like being a communist in the US in the preceding period or being critical of the government, in favor of capitalism etc. in the USSR.

What is taboo in a society just depends on the particular ideology of the time.

Wasn't i clear? It changes, and has historically changed, depending what the current political standards are at place.

wait, what? You lost me there... Are you seriously saying that Marx and Mussolini both followed the same ideology only in different times?

No.

As the etymology of the word describes, it is the voicing of an opinion that goes against the current political dogma. In the 80's and 90's it was fit to call it a form of fascism because of the conservatives in the US enforcing moral purity everywhere. Today it is political incorrect to go against equality.

Isn't going against equality against the very foundation of the US? "That all men are created equal, that they have been endowed by their creator with with certain unalienable rights" and so on.... Going against equality is a much more serious issue than the overuse of political correctness

What you think qualifies for equality has nothing to do with what political correctness is.

I think "equality" in this context means that all humans regardless of gender, race, social class, religion, personal beliefs, past, sexual orientation and identity and whatever other differences there might be should be considered equal, but please do explain to me what your definition is :)
You are confusing equality of opportunity with equality of outcome. The former is freedom, the latter is oppression. In the US we have true equality of opportunity. Anyone can go to college. Anyone can start a business, anyone can become anything the want to be, or at least try as hard as they wish to. Not everyone is willing to do what it takes, and even doing it is no guarantee of success.

The latter by necessity reduces everyone to the lowest common denominator. There is no motivation to work harder, innovate, invent, or anything. It will get you nothing the guy sweeping the floor doesn't get and he didn't had ve to work near as hard for it.

As you an Marx pointed out we need superior human being who don't want. We're humans, not ants. It's a great system but it's not for humans.

YES!!! But it is no binary choice... It's not either communism or capitalism. We should combine the best of two worlds. Wouldn't you say? A free market, but with enogh regulations to disable the creation of an extreme two class system. laws that protect workers. Equality of education as in free schools and universities. Free healthcare. Welfare for those who lost their jobs. And again, all of this embedded in a free market.

OK, you do realize the US has about 85% of what you are asking for here right?

While Zizek has great taste in women, is hilarious at times and can express his ideas in succinct forms at times, i find his lacanian outlook is too depressive and material.

I find the Jungian perspective more positive.

Yes it is a binary choice. Socialism isn't when the gubbermint does stuff, it's a mode of production where property, in the legal sense, does not exist. Capitalism is a mode of production where property exists and is enforced by the state. Markets, healthcare, regulations, education, or whatever have no bearing on this.

Meh, what I've read about and from Jung isn't particularly great.

I'm not trying to combine communism and capitalism in the way you are thinking. I'm looking at what each can offer to society, and I take the best from each into one system. I do not perceive this as a binary choice

We have great Universities and great Health Care and while none of it is free there are many, and many more forms of public and private assistance to help pay for it. Many of those do require some form of sacrifice on the part of the recipient. For example I attended a community college and then a public university and the US Government paid for about 75% of it. I paid for the rest myself. How? I served in the US Marines for 5 years. There are many such opportunities. In the state of Georgia if you attended K-12 in the state you get your first two years of community college free courtesy of the Georgia Lottery. Right here in TN is you agree to two years of part time community service and maintain a 3.0 GPA the State will pay 100% of tuition for Community College or Trade School or Adult Education if someone wants to get a GED. There are national groups like Calvary Chapel who will help with tuition in return for a year of missionary work. The Peace Corps, Amnesty International, Merchant Marines, all have tuition assistance. Many business will pay employees tuition in return for an agreement to work at that company for a period of time. The opportunities are limitless and while it is never free and clear it is all attainable IF someone is wiling to do what is required to have it.

The problem with PC is what some people consider "not-PC". It's about at the point where adding milk to your coffee may be labeled as symbolic of white washing and you'll have to pretend to take it seriously or risk real consequences for your job, etc.

Adding milk to your coffee doesn't have to be labeled as anything to be considered a crime against humanity.

I like multiculturalism, I believe it makes for a stronger society and a society  where we  can be different races, religions, cultures but we share common values.....we have to accept the values of the country we want to live in and if you cant accept those values then you need to immigrate somewhere else . And that does not mean we now  have no immigration control or force countries to accept all refugees , like the EU and the refugee crisis

But end of the day multiculturalism is a good thing that will  make us   better people overall  8)
