What's on the idiot box... Part 3

Best Globes in memory. Didn't cry at all when George admitted joy in finding someone true to love. Gwyneth presenting, stole my breath away as ever, so much so I couldn't keep it together when the gentleman recipient acknowledged his new bride. The feels, tonight, god, maybe it was the rum.

HGTV - the "house hunters" type shows are always so fun to watch (in short bursts), so you can mock the buyers with all their complaints about how they can't buy this house because oh no, it doesn't come with a dishwasher, or gee they'd have to paint the walls a different color, or the bathroom sink isn't a pedestal, or something else equally as asinine.

Is it just me, or is this TWD trailer from AMC actually really terrible? Usually I like their show trailers. This one feels ... cheesy.

Although I do like the brief shot of Carol. She's become the new badass, since Daryl has sort of opted out of that role lately. And I just realized how well bearded-Rick would fit into a US Civil War mini-series.

I liked Live Here, Buy That. Watched a bunch a while back and thought it was hilarious the couple could sell their 2 bedroom condo in Toronto and buy a 5 bedroom farmhouse on 2 acres of land on Cape Breton island.

Heh. For those Lost fans..

Independent - Lost Writer Admits They Just Made it Up as They Went Along

A writer on Lost has revealed what many suspected, that there was never  a plan for how to end the show and each season they would just think of "f*cked up things" to keep it ticking over.

Prison Break writer Nick Santora recalled the time his Lost writer friend (who he wouldn't name) came clean during a Nerdist Writer's Panel podcast, an admission he was pretty appalled by.

"We had an expression in the room which was 'No Polar Bears' - a reference to Lost," he explained.

"I had friends that were writing on Lost, I can’t say who they were. And I was watching football with one of them and I was telling them how much I loved the show…and I’m like, "How are you going to pay all this stuff off?" And he looked at me and goes, "We’re not." And I go, "What do you mean you’re not?" He said, "We literally just think of the weirdest most f*cked up thing and write it and we’re never going to pay it off." And I look at him and I’m like, "That’s such bullshi*t! You are completely f*cking with the audience."

"I want to bring a class-action lawsuit on behalf of everyone who watched Lost all those years. Nina Hartley [a porn star] jerked people off less than Lost did."

In September, Lost showrunner Carlton Cuse claimed that a seventh series of the shipwreck drama is "inevitable" now that Disney owns the rights to it.

"Disney owns the franchise, it made them a lot of money, it's hard to imagine it will just sit there idly forever," he told ABC, to a collective groan from viewers.

I was actually very happy with the way LOST wrapped up, so even if they were just stumbling blindly toward the end, I'm happy with where it took them.

I don't think you can go back though.  It is done.  Maybe a spin off, but the story is complete.

Yeah, a friend of a friend probably told me Damon and Carlton took pains during a commentary track to say, no, the LOST writers in fact used an outline. Most likely it was a little of both ... making it up as they go, following a general path in a relatively specific direction.

The Man in the High Castle - How have we not talked about this yet?  This is a fantastic pilot on Amazon Prime right now, if you can you need to watch it.  It is an adaptation of the PKD book where the Nazi's and Japan win WW2 and take over the US.  It is excellent.  Go vote for it.

Caught up on Galavant.

The episode about the squire's hometown felt like filler, although it was nice to have some background. The other two were better ... the pirates were hilarious and Weird Al's small role made me chuckle.

I was oddly slightly disappointed that they changed the musical tune for the songs, so much. Nothing wrong with that, but I was thinking they were going to use that one tune theme a lot throughout, which would have been kinda funny. The tunes in the past 3 episodes felt less comical.

The last couple episodes were the best so far, the song the handmaiden and chef shared was pretty awesome.

I thought the ending worked, but it deflated all my interest in the show too, so its not one I have any real compulsion to revisit.

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

I am and was a huge fan of LOST, I was satisfied with the final season. I think they answered most of the important  questions that we were asking during the seasons, like "what was the purpose of the island "

And I agree, you can't create another season...it would seem a little pointless ?

Every time. Doesn't matter the actor, the show, the film, lid, no lid ... every time a paper coffee cup is on camera, in someone's hand, its emptiness is painfully obvious. Pretending a hot liquid has weight must be the impossible holy grail of acting.

lol...I'm glad I'm not the only one who notices that.

Although I still find that less distracting as when there *is* liquid in a cup during a scene (or a half eaten sandwich, or a lit cigar/cig) where the level keeps going up and down, up and down...

There's a scene in Jurassic Park where they are sitting around a table discussing the ethical implications of the park, and that happens a lot. What happens even more in that scene is the actors completely shifting position from shot to shot. Who was in charge of continuity for that one?

Started watching The Librarians. Like a mix of Dr Who and Warehouse 13. Not bad.

I haven't seen them, but the pilot references them a little bit, so I'm interested in checking them out.
