Coworker claims I am sociopath, hmph, was offended.  Still, I guess the idea of adjusting another coworker's monitors each night just to hear him rage at the janitors the following morning is a bad thing.

No I don't think you are, just the fact that you have a sense of humour (as in the joke you played ) confirms this. Personally I find those types of jokes funny, especially if those people tend to complain a lot

I've been writing all week.

The book I'm working on turned to crap somewhere around this most recent chapter. I had a high point where I thought I was doing excellent and then it immediately bottomed out. I think it's my fault, I started thinking too much on what book I was going to work on next and feel like I'm rushing through this. But I still have to complete this book. And I still have to start a new one.

If I'm lucky, or perhaps if I'm extremely unlucky, I'll come back and fix it with a rewrite. But right now I think my writing ability is going to grow more from getting to an ending and then starting the new book instead of doing revisions.

Lots of gardening that involved digging, cutting, lifting, scraping, sawing and pinching a nerve in my back......

Also today I decided to start a new hobby - Spear throwing. Sadly I suck at shooting bows, shooting modern crossbows is boring, axe and knife throwing is just not really that interesting. I've always been really impressed by the Greeks and their spear throwing skills. I've already got the strength and determination, now I'm going to buy a book to learn the right technique.

Oh, and I'm not talking about throwing fiber glass spears as far as I can like they do on the Olympics, I'm talking about accurately throwing wooden spears with metal heads at targets.

Why do you have to complete this book?  Most authors I've read about in this situation put the current book to the side and return to it after they've done the new book rather than rushing it to an end.

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

Because I need the experience in writing complete books. Not just writing up until I get a little bored and then starting up a new one. That would be a terrible practice to get into. I'd never get anywhere.

I'd still be outlining or writing chapter 1s.

Edit: And I got my (free) business cards today. Thinking about joining a writing group and the business cards will help me either look like a dedicated professional or a loon who's getting ahead of himself. Either way works for me. And now I can do those things where I drop a card in the jar for a chance to win a free coffee.

Checked fedex tracking for an import game I preordered. It went from Lantau Island, Hong Kong to Chicago Illinois, meaning it flew right past me and will double back to meet its projected monday delivery.

Also an old man just walked down the street backwards when I looked out the window while typing. Not like "temporarily" backwards, more like "I left my house or apartment or mental institution walking backwards and I'm going to keep walking backwards even if it kills me" backwards.

Tendered my resignation, today. Lasted three years, eleven months. It's not nearly as grandiose as 'tendered' and 'resignation' sound. Hard work and loyalty get you nowhere, I have discovered, so might as well jump off a cliff and see how deep it goes. If I had kids, I probably wouldn't do scary things like this, but, c'est la vie.

Looking forward to the Masters golf tournament this weekend, if nothing else.

What type of work were you doing and what was the reason you resigned if you don't mind sharing?

Well I'm working now at a customer and we have an issue with Firewall ports that aren't open. So we may have to reschedule the work for later in the week, oh well these things happen

Great authors have a tendency to revise large chunks. I'd recommend scrapping the whole chapter, at the very least. Maybe the one before it as well.

On the downside I just spent fully ten minutes in a coughing cycle. I think at one point I actually turned inside-out. :)

Be careful with the coughing, my aunt broke a rip when during a coughing attack.

I once coughed so hard that one of my ribs was ripped loose from the cage. I do not recommend it as it made breathing quite uncomfortable for the following weeks.

Today is an absolutely gorgeous day so I went for my second bike ride of the year.  I spent almost 2 1/2 hours out on the road, it was awesome.  It was about 65°F when I left and about 72°F when I got back with beautiful blue skies.  I only just move to Hartford recently so I was mostly exploring, getting the lay of the land.  Step 1, is getting out of the deep city, which, luckily, isn't too hard, since I live right on the edge of downtown and within 3 or 4 minutes of riding I'm into West Hartford and much less congested roads with less traffic lights.

Here's a picture of my trusty steed:

Qdhn1dV.jpg

It's a decent enough bike, nothing special.  Aluminum frame, carbon fork, Shimano Sora hardware.  I had it stored at my folks during the winter and forgot to take my water bottle with me when I brought it to my new place, so I'm making due with a substitute until I go over there next week.

I'm sooo tired of this cough that has been plaguing my household.  My son is finally in the clear for the most part after a month, and my wife and daughter are past the worst of it.  But it has flared up my asthma terribly and I've been wheezing like crazy.  I already went through a round of steroids, and my inhaler is getting a workout.  The crazy thing is I ran 4 miles yesterday with no problems, but when I try to go to sleep, or I'm just resting, it flares up.

Interesting point: doxycycline isn't the only antibiotic you should strenuously avoid taking on an empty stomach.

I used to have acid reflux a lot until I realized what I had was actually the opposite of acid reflux, (too little acidic content), which results in a similar problem. Ergo, Tums and such did naught to help it - and in fact only worsened and prolonged the issue. Now I almost never get it, knowing the proper way to deal with it, (that is, eat a lot of acidic foods!), haha. Last time I had it so much that it was painful, which was a few months ago, I ate a grapefruit, and it cleared up right away.   :p

How I have existed fills me with horror. For I have failed in everything - spelling, arithmetic, riding, tennis, golf; dancing, singing, acting; wife, mistress, whore, friend. Even cooking. And I do not excuse myself with the usual escape of 'not trying'. I tried with all my heart.

In my dreams, I am not crippled. In my dreams, I dance.

Spring has sprung and although it's quite lovely out the smell is what I can only imagine would be the scent of an old dirty porn set

Either you haven't had enough sex in your life or you've got some kind of creepy synesthesia if you think the offal of human groinal regions and sweat smells like spring flowers.

The potential joke based on the fact that flowers are fundamentally sexual organs is lost when you've actually been in a room reeking of human copulation.

Do you spend loads of time in rooms that reek of human copulation...you seem quite knowledgeable

#My left ear was completely blocked with wax once again and there is no Doc available to clean my ear on Sundays. Q-tips don't help. So I took a pair of small stainless steel pincers and cut them in half, took one piece, bent the end to a 80° angle, rounded all the sharp metal edges with my files and voilà!  Got myself an ear cleaning tool. Works like a charm.   :w00t:

I don't know, the last ear cleaning procedure my Doc gave me hurt like crazy and my ears felt sore for days, it felt like my ear drums would give way to that 1000 bar supersonic boiling water jet at any moment. My cleaning technique is far gentler.

And a few extra holes wouldn't scare me, as long as my ear canal isn't blocked its all good, all the really important stuff starts to happen at and past the eardrum anyway.

I gazed at the dead, and for one dark moment I saw a banquet.

Dude. Your eardrums are not as ripped as the rest of you. Don't poke them with metal things!
